jameson's is a fuckin good whiskey for a supermarket standard issue tbh

first use of 'jejune' on ilx is a searing tracer hand zing on darraghmac. dude goes through moments of real distaste for me

some day i will taste midleton, tho tbh i tried one of JJ& sons other special bottles lately (about a tenner more, aged 12 year or something) and didn't notice any difference.

This differing opinion of what a true whiskey consisted of culminated in a legal enquiry in 1908. It was a huge turning point in the history of whiskey. The Scottish blenders won the case and the blend became recognised in law as being whiskey. The Irish in general and Jameson in particular stubbornly continued with the traditional Pure Pot Still production process for many years and, to this day, a large proportion of Jameson is still composed of Pure Pot Still component. Jameson also produces a special limited edition Pure Pot Still Whiskey, Redbreast to celebrate the ancient Irish whiskey making craft.

Only 50 casks are released each year, it is therefore both expensive and collectible. The whiskeys used in the blend are handpicked by the Master blender, all are triple distilled and have aged between 12 and 25 years in individually selected Bourbon or Sherry casks. As a new vintage is created each year, each differs slightly and has its own character.

i mean let's be real; it's quite difficult to make something that meets the u.s. classification of "bourbon" and sucks. but i am not crazy about the beams.

I mean, I could always drop some cash on laphroaig. but I just want something I can kick back with when I come home from work and not worry that all my money is going down my gullet.

how much would it cost in an average store in america? cuz it's about £18? for the black label in my local off license iirc but suspect it's cheaper there

i've never had the four roses 80 proof but i love some of their other expressions. and iirc their 80 is regarded as the best 80 around these days.

full-bodied = you need to be drinking a 90 or 100 proof with an ice cube or a splash of water.

cozen, taking into account the UK-availability & pricing issues, I'd say that either the Jim Beam Black (and £18 is a very good price for that here IMO) or possibly Buffalo Trace, which big Asda's stock, and was at £19 when I last bought, would be your best bet for a 'everyday'/'don't worry about actually drinking it' bourbon round these parts. Anything else is going to a significant step up the £££'s ladder.

I personally don't like Four Roses.

If you can find more interesting items than these (in real life, as opposed to online, I mean) for good prices then please let me know where...

yeah this is p much the problem w/ drinking bourbon in the uk (rye's even more expensive)

can you get woodford reserve dayo? it's pretty reasonable and prefer it to beam.
