apple have never really got social networking (or "the web" for that matter) but the network effect of ping is going to be pretty fierce

Apple will be holding a media event titled “Back to the Mac” on October 20. The invitation seems to indicate that the focus of the meeting will be on/around Mac OS X 10.7 — maybe to be called “Lion”? — and the Mac.

got my apple tv today, quite nice. this is my first experience with streaming netflix, a bit pixely, probably my bandwidth which is absolutely shitty. nice to finally get around to streaming my itunes library to the stereo, a bit overwhelming, I guess I should really fix those tags. $99 well spent considering all the CDs have to be in storage now (and if I can stand it, sold)
