They didn't invite Hoberman??? Would've been great to see The Girl From Chicago on TCM.

Kevin John Bozelka, Thursday, 7 October 2010 15:26 (fifteen years ago)

More like a Flaming Creatures / Rose Hobart double bill on TCM, amirite?

I love cinema. My favorite movies are Citizen Kane and the Boondock Saints (KMS), Friday, 8 October 2010 01:36 (fifteen years ago)

But I believe TCM actually did show Rose Hobart at one point. Or am I getting senile?

Kevin John Bozelka, Friday, 8 October 2010 04:08 (fifteen years ago)

I think you're right. I think that TCM may have shown several selections from the "Treasures From American Film Archives: 50 Preserved Films" dvd around the time that it was first released.

I love cinema. My favorite movies are Citizen Kane and the Boondock Saints (KMS), Friday, 8 October 2010 21:17 (fifteen years ago)

I think Bobby O is introducing something at Film Forum next week.

No, one of the guys in Oneida.

rage against the hoosteen (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 9 October 2010 02:02 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think he goes by Bobby O. Used to be Fat Bobby? Maybe he'll respond, he used to post on ILX.

dan selzer, Saturday, 9 October 2010 09:28 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, Fat Bobby or Bobby Matador. I was just kidding. I was actually referring to Robert Osborne.

What did he used to post as?

"who was that lady" -- did they just say scotchka?

my sex drew back into itself tight and dry (abanana), Sunday, 10 October 2010 18:14 (fifteen years ago)

They are showing some fairly bad Curtis films along w/ the goodies. Defiant Ones and Trapeze next.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Monday, 11 October 2010 01:31 (fifteen years ago)

Never actually saw The Defiant Ones but did see a million parodies of it back in the day.

roast rage against the hoosteen (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 11 October 2010 01:34 (fifteen years ago)

fair warning: A FOREIGN AFFAIR on Sat night.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 14 October 2010 11:50 (fifteen years ago)

introduced by Alec Baldwin?

No Good, Scrunty-Looking, Narf Herder (Gukbe), Thursday, 14 October 2010 12:35 (fifteen years ago)

I am so amused that The Boogens and Night of the Lepus are both ending up on TCM (on the 22nd, in case you care).

goddamn it -- when can we expect a DVD release?

raging hetero lifechill (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 16 October 2010 22:43 (fifteen years ago)

forgot about this! was going to watch the Lovely Bones but I'll save that for later.

No Good, Scrunty-Looking, Narf Herder (Gukbe), Saturday, 16 October 2010 22:44 (fifteen years ago)

I'm betting this was a lot better than a froze-up webstream of a baseball game. I know I liked it a lot more.

Really interesting film, I'm going to have to let it marinate in my head a while.

Unfrozen Caveman Board-Lawyer (WmC), Sunday, 17 October 2010 02:01 (fifteen years ago)

I have a deeper understanding of The Good German.

No Good, Scrunty-Looking, Narf Herder (Gukbe), Sunday, 17 October 2010 02:02 (fifteen years ago)

Alfred, everything should not be on DVD. It's good to have to work for things sometimes.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 17 October 2010 02:07 (fifteen years ago)

A Foreign Affair is a great book, don't think i ever saw the movie.

Like paying extra money a month for cable?

raging hetero lifechill (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 17 October 2010 12:29 (fifteen years ago)

or move to a city w/ a rep house :)

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 17 October 2010 13:57 (fifteen years ago)

He doesn't think the kids today have earned it, that's all.

btw saw Something Wild and it was pretty great for the most part.

No Good, Scrunty-Looking, Narf Herder (Gukbe), Sunday, 17 October 2010 14:30 (fifteen years ago)

I was too tired to watch SW (not the Demme film btw) and don't tape anymore, but yes I'd like to see it someday based on the first 10 mins.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 17 October 2010 14:32 (fifteen years ago)

I'm surprised it doesn't have a larger following. NY looks great as well. Also I never paid attention to Caroll Baker in the few things I've seen her in, but she was excellent! Quite a pedigree in the crew for an independent as well.

No Good, Scrunty-Looking, Narf Herder (Gukbe), Sunday, 17 October 2010 14:39 (fifteen years ago)

mark your calendars. TCM will show the newly restored Metropolis on Dec. 7.

No Good, Scrunty-Looking, Narf Herder (Gukbe), Tuesday, 19 October 2010 16:10 (fifteen years ago)

So good.

Elio Petri's extremely rare proto-giallo, A Quiet Place in the Country(!), 3:15 am, Monday 11/01. Vanessa Redgrave, Franco Nero.

babytown frolics (Mr. Hal Jam), Thursday, 28 October 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

I saw that film maybe 6-7 years ago. Scarcely remember it.

Ebert was on last night talking w/ Osborne in his robot voice.
