College football. Etc.

Having 2nd beer, smoking too much, have to get up early to go to Lon Guyland for long day of performances. My Favorite Balkan took mucinex & passed out on the sofa!

Not looking forward to cooking up steaks & egg noodles to pack for tomorrow but I'll appreciate it then.

sick from tequila, ripping CDs to my computer to be then transferred to the mp3 plyer my friend gave me...

waiting for my sister to bring home burgers...

may go over to my friend's house to play Geometry Wars, may watch Season 3 of The Office w/ the commentary, may read Blindness &/or the Bible...

rewatched the first wall street in anticipation of the new one. the innocence of the reagan years seems so quaint now!

Watching the X-Files. All of it. Up to season two now. I have no idea why since I know it goes to shit after a few years.

But those early seasons are SO worth it.

Watching Top Chef finale, no idea why bc I don't give a crap.

Wait it's not even finale. God could this season just end already.

xp Great Scrabble word, too. I'm about halfway through Season 2 at the moment...just wrapped up the obligatory voodoo zombie episode. While I'd seen a few episodes in syndication, as well as the first movie back when it came out, I was under the impression that the show was all sci-fi, all the time, so I was kind of thrown when ghosts and demons and crap started showing up.

Tonight- gym, then back home...going to do one of the following, haven't decided:
1. work my way through the second Sub Rosa Anthology of Noise & Electronic Music
2. watch The Ninth Configuration
3. read...something. haven't thought that far ahead, really

I can tell you what I'm not going to do, though, and that is Final Fantasy XIII. Good god, but that game is dogshit. I got a copy for $20 in a one-day Amazon sale, and as of almost two hours in I have no idea what's going on, the combat is simultaneously oversimplified and full of pointless extra systems (all I've had to do is select "auto battle" and remember to heal my guys every five encounters or so), and the entire game so far seems to be set in an ugly greenish hallway. Okay, so it's a greenish bridge floating over your usual FF-style futuro-magic-techno-city, but it remains, functionally, a hallway. All the characters are vapid, annoying, complete ciphers, freakish anime simulacra of human beings straight from the uncanny valley, or various combinations of the above.

(oh who am i kidding i'm going to finish all fifty hours or whatever of this turd)

Just got back from babysitting my nephew and niece, made them watch Planes,Trains and Automobiles.
Pleasantly surprised as they actually liked it. I thought they'd not get it as it's "old"

Thinking, was Tron some electronic version of "Wizard of Oz" ? I mean the more I think, the more I believe that Flynn was knocked unconscious by the laser and dreamed up the entire shebang of Tron. He used everyone from his life as templates for the hero characters. His ENCOM friends were the good guys with the blue circuits while the ENCOM boss and the new MCP was dreamed as the bad guy. All the vehicles probably came from the stuff he read about in sci-fi and science magazines. The world inside the computer was how he represented the computer systems as seen by someone on the inside.

Sorry to jump in, but in the spirit of the thread title, I am spending this fine Saturday night in with my parents, watching some godawful film. I've had a couple glasses of wine, so I can't drive anywhere, and we live in the middle of bloody nowhere.

Couldn't afford to go out this weekend. Last night, pizza and backgammon. Tonight, wine and Children of the Stones.

going to see james franco in howl out in swishy old west hollywood.

went out for pub grub, napped for a bit, now having a pre-snl hendrick's and tonic.

*Extremely* boring evening but I've been kinda tired of late and just needed to chill. Still I do think I'm in a strange impasse mode of late, but I figure I'll snap out of it.

Played some video games, caught up on 30 Rock, starting on Motherless Brooklyn so I can have it done before Wednesday night.

Stayed up to watch Korean Grand Prix but they've been red flagged due to rain. Disappointing.

i went to a huge sound/light installation of a xenakis piece, in a state park in downtown l.a.

the "light" part = laserbeams and flaming torches.

okay, more like roaming search lights and flaming torches -- but a company called "laserium" was in charge of them.

xposts haven't tried the banana bread yet, will report back when I do. Smells freaking great tho

Doing a lot of cooking to use up some CSA stuff. Did a roasted garlic/eggplant/leek mix for dinner along with a chard/broccoli salad, made up a batch of tomato sauce with basil, then a white bean/kale/kabocha big batch of soup and a spicy butternut squash stew is currently cooking up. Sauce, stew and soup all for storage (seriously).
