caek, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 16:55 (fifteen years ago)

caek, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 16:56 (fifteen years ago)

streaming quality is surprisingly good. speech is kinda dry, but i usually just read recaps of these speeches rather than watch them live

Nhex, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:11 (fifteen years ago)

ok the new shuffle is cute

Nhex, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:24 (fifteen years ago)

caek, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:42 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, eek

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:42 (fifteen years ago)

iPod classic is an unperson.

Ping looks like a halfway mash of Last.fm. They haven't shot iTunes in the head yet either

stet, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:43 (fifteen years ago)

xps

stet, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:43 (fifteen years ago)

actually, this looks p. good

stet, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

MORE functionality in itunes

jozam djinn (cozen), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

got rid of CD in logo though so there's that

caek, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:53 (fifteen years ago)

guess itv refused to blink

caek, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:55 (fifteen years ago)

Won't this Ping™ thing only work with Official Legit RIAA-approved Non-Pirated iTunes Content™, though?

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 17:56 (fifteen years ago)

unless they refuse to make it work with CDs you rip yourself, i don't see how they can restrict it like that, assuming they'd want to

caek, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

kept notes in logo though, p. good way to describe movies, tv shows, books, apps, iTunes U, photos, podcasts, iOS updates, syncing, and locking up

stet, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 18:03 (fifteen years ago)

no way a social network for music will ever be popular

jozam djinn (cozen), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 18:11 (fifteen years ago)

well that was fun

markers, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 18:25 (fifteen years ago)

I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't going to be a new large-capacity iPod Touch. I had been holding out for a 120GB version.

Moodles, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 18:51 (fifteen years ago)

Seconded. I refuse to pick and choose what albums I can carry around with me. I need all of them goddamnit.

mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 18:51 (fifteen years ago)

Hells yeah.

Moodles, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

So, is that the end of the Classic then?

scotstvo, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 19:10 (fifteen years ago)

no, it's still up

I still don't understand why anybody would buy the AppleTV thing, though it's nice that it's smaller and cheaper, it just doesn't make any sense to me. As a device it seems practically purposeless.

The new nano is kind of ugly & makes the touch look much more compelling. Still nothing has really come along here yet that's exciting enough to get me to give up on my slightly broken second generation nano :(

Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

The AppleTV is like the simplest thing ever, I say "I want to watch the new episode of House" or "I want to see that one episode of some old show" and a few remote clicks and a couple bucks later, there it is.

I download a lot of content from Teh BitTorrentz, and if I want to watch it on my TV, now I can just stream it onto an AppleTV box instead of worrying about syncing anything, or putting it onto some PS3 compatible format (CD, DVD, flash drive, etc.)

Shock and Awe High School (Phil D.), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:08 (fifteen years ago)

you could also stream it directly to your computer or run it off your own hard drive

jeff, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:10 (fifteen years ago)

*directly from

jeff, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:10 (fifteen years ago)

ya if u have a ps3 and that's what u want it for, u really odn't need this

real s1ock (s1ocki), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:11 (fifteen years ago)

um, you can stream practically anything onto a PS3 using TVersity, Orb or PS3 Media Server

feel free to answer my Korn Kuestion (HI DERE), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:12 (fifteen years ago)

you can stream it onto a ps3

real s1ock (s1ocki), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:14 (fifteen years ago)

yeah media link on ps3 makes appleTV redundant

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:17 (fifteen years ago)

that's pretty much the main thing I use my ps3 for nowadays

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:17 (fifteen years ago)

what we're saying is, you can stream to ps3, so you don't need this

real s1ock (s1ocki), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:18 (fifteen years ago)

in case that wasn't clear

feel free to answer my Korn Kuestion (HI DERE), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

real s1ock (s1ocki), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:21 (fifteen years ago)

what's the easitest ps3 streamer? will it work outside local network? I know two dudes with ps3s who've never got this working properly.

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:22 (fifteen years ago)

dude, you DON'T. NEED. APPLE. TV.

real s1ock (s1ocki), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:25 (fifteen years ago)

I got it to work with TVersity after about 30 minutes of fiddling with firewall settings

feel free to answer my Korn Kuestion (HI DERE), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

I know two dudes with ps3s who've never got this working properly.

AppleTV's prime market imo

mh, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:28 (fifteen years ago)

jozam djinn (cozen), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:30 (fifteen years ago)

jeff, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

TVersity and PS3 Media Server don't work on Mac OSX, MediaLink I already have the trial for. The other reason is that it's more likely that Apple's box will have direct access to Hulu content before PS3 does. (I'm not paying $100+ a year for a Playstation Plus subscription, thanks.)

(and before any of you say PLAYON MEDIA SERVER, that doesn't run on Mac either.)

Shock and Awe High School (Phil D.), Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:33 (fifteen years ago)

PS3 Media Server works great on OSX, no idea wtf you mean.

mh, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 20:35 (fifteen years ago)

Also, AppleTV will have access to Hulu on the second of never, but you can already hack Hulu to work on a PS3 if you stick a http proxy in-between to change the browser user agent, afaik
