Question: It seems that any old comment I make on anyone's posts, links, etc, shows up in everyone's feed...or at least, it shows up in my husband's feed. Is there any way I can turn this off?

Isnt that the idea tho? Im a bit confused.

Like if post on your wall, anyone who is looking at my feed sees that - but only if we're mutual friends, I think?

Say I am friends with Satan, and also my dad, and Satan & dad are definitely not friends with each other. Dad hates that I'm buds with Satan and wants no reminders of this. Say Satan posts a hilarious photo of his bifurcated cock, and I post a comment about it. Even though Satan and my dad are not friends, my comment & Satan's cock both show up in my dad's feed. Ideally, only mutual friends of Satan could see that I appreciate his wit, but as it stands, it's showing up in feeds of people who don't know or care about Satan. That's basically what's happening right now (I comment on some high school friend's post but my husband can still see it even though he is not friends w/high school friend, making me think everyone can see it). I would like to know if there is a way to stop it.

Hm yeah that shouldnt happen should it? I cant work out where yo'd set that tho, I had a squiz in the privacy settings but geez they dont make it easy to change shit.

Actually, this does not happen, at least not the way you describe it. Can you give a specific example of what is troubling you? There may actually be a way to fix it, believe it or not.

If Satan makes his cock photo a wall post on your wall, then yes, your dad can see it, because it's on your wall, and it shows up the same way as if you posted it yourself. I do wish people would stop doing this. I often delete posts like this, and if it's a friend I care about keeping, I may send then a message explaining why I nixed their post off my wall.

Satan should keep his cock on his own wall, and then your dad can't see your comments about it. As long as he's not friends with Satan.

I guess that kind of makes sense. I dont very often see people in my feed commenting on something by someone I dont know at all though, so Im kind of puzzled.

Ive just scrolled 3 pages of news feed and only seen one person-to-wall post and that was to a mutual friend.. and no comment-to-photo at all, weird.

I think it may be just comments on status updates - I commented on a friend's bifurcated cock status the other night and it appeared on my wife's news feed despite him not being on her friends list.

I get this in the 'top news' feed but not the 'most recent'. Lots of telling me that friend X likes the link of non-friend Y and such.

It's really weird being Facebook friends with two people who had a fight in high school and never spoke to each other again. Then again that is what it was like in high school.

It's really weird having 20+ mutual friends with someone who has decided never to speak to me again, and having her avoid me on friends' comment threads. She's really sticking to her guns. I pissed her off right and proper, apparently. About 12 years ago. At what point does this become petty on her part, I wonder?

I just added anyone who I don't expect to understand my jokes (i.e. family, people I knew in elementary school who added me) to a list and changed the privacy settings for that list so they can't see anything I post or comment on, nor any of my other friends that aren't on the list's comments.

u s steel, yeah, that is weird. also weird to have someone unfriend you and then three years later friend you again, tho you've barely talked since the unfriending occurred.

New feature I hate: when you're going through photo albums there will sometimes be, to the right, a sort of "since you're always snooping on this person's page, here's a photo album they're in that you might want to try looking at when you're done with this one!" suggestion.

That's the next evolution in Facebook, the site will suggest clever ways of stalking and snooping that users haven't already figured out.

it's been around a while - but it used to just list everyone in alphabetical order - now you have the option of the full list at the bottom right or this side bar with the select few

I wouldn't be surprised if someday we might see features like:

I would like to thank ILX for counseling me away from making a courtesy culling announcement. Nobody seems to have noticed that they are no longer my friend, or if they noticed, they didn't seem to care. Except for one dude who keeps trying to add me again, but he'll eventually get the hint.
