akm, i live at 34th and Tele. so oakland.. it is genuinely sunny here (after noon) about 90% of the time. no joke. Emeryville sucks shit, it is too near the water to have good weather, I think. also, it is a faketown.

sunny does not equal warm, however.

My experiences at the 500 have been pretty civilized.

Thanks for some of the restaurant ideas listed--My son and I made it to Taqueria Cancun in the Mission, and to Muraccis(Japanese Katsu curry) in the financial district. Both were yummy.

I never made it to a sexy erotic thriller bar :(

was in san francisco for an hour last friday (ate at hanoi vietnamese place on 19th & taraval) and for a few hours tuesday night (ate at kyoto sushi on van ness & sutter, drank at mcteague's saloon (lame) and then later in the SFO rental car return garage). also, floating on the russian was the nicest ever, plus some people brought boxer doggies in their canoe and the boxer doggies were wearing shoes so they was high-steppin'

Contemplating a trip to SF this fall...

FYI: I'm going to be at Rosamunde Sausage Grill at 5pm, wrapped as skin-tight as a sausage and leaving precious little to the imagination for those who crave such a thing.

tonight i was craving an extra spicy falafel from ali baba's cave. the stars aligned and it was delicious. my stomach is going to be killing me in an hour, but it was worth it!

what company did you use? did you do the 10 mile canoe trip?

SOAR in healdsburg was my chosen outfitter, $50/head. 8 mile trip, took us a little less than 4 hours, no big whoop. we did a lot of paddling though, like more than you're probably supposed to do for it to be considered a "leisurely" voyage, and we finished well before everyone else. two things i did not like: 1) inflatable canoes that lack a keel and therefore tend to spin all over the place unless you're real good about paddling on each side equitably; 2) girl that checked us in had a nasty attitude and a raging case of the mouth herpes to match. beer and sandwiches-wise, there's an A&M market two stores over that'll hook you up before you go, and SOAR will let you borrow one of their coolers if you don't have one. oh yeah and remember to put sunscreen on your legs, too - i forgot.

Burke's Canoes is $50 per canoe (metal) , you can fit 2-3 people in each one. it's got free transport back to the start. do it on sundays as there's way less river traffic then on Saturday. Also on Sunday if you have time you can hit the Sebastapol farmer's market for lunch on the way in to the river. Speaking as a child of agrarian immigrants, this is one of the better farmer's markets in the bay area.

there is this street food festival in the mission today. might go.

street food festival was fun but predictably overcrowded. saw no ilxors. did eat some stuff from the beretta stand.

Rogue Wave and TMBG in Stern Grove tomorrow (free!). We will probably go, because one of my 3 yr old sons loves "Groat Wave."

went to stern grove; this was actually the first time I've ever made it out there for a stern grove festival show, holy shit is it always that crowded (I suppose it isn't for like, orchestra things)? I know it was the first warm day of summer this year but it was pretty insane. RW are my studio mates but I never ever go out and see them play, was cool that they got a crowd like that, except rude staff and general horrible crowding meant we split immediately after they were done, which was kind of a waste of our awesome free parking spot at grandma's across the street. Maybe "free" combined with "good weather" just brought absolutely everyone out.

did go to rockmake afterward which was nice and not crowded. I sound like an old man!

We had a good time, but had to sit off to the side, and left after RW. I spent most of the show with my son on my shoulders, avoiding the aisle-clearing bouncer dudes. What a beautiful day, though, for a change. Looks like we're getting a week's worth of good weather after this awful, awful summer.
