Twitter C/D

Don't use the Twitter interface - I haven't seen any of these suggestions yet using Hootsuite or dabr. They might be slightly flakier than the twitter front-end but Twitter's down so often you don't really notice.

Is there *any* way to turn off the "who to follow" suggestions short of clicking x to all of them.

Wait, what? If you're following more than like 60 people, surely you're not reading your twitter at all!

i'm following around 400 people. granted, sometimes i skim, and some of my followers don't post very much.

ugh, i mean "some of the people i follow." bleh, semantics.

I follow around 200...some people hardly post at all, or someone like Ebert posts every 5 minutes in the evenings...I think I've got it to a point where I've got a nice regular flow of tweets from a variety of people. I don't like reading streams of stuff from the same person. And I read pretty much all of it. Some of the links I may not follow.

But I can't really fathom following thousands of people. Too noisy!

i actually follow a lot of the links! it's one of the things i enjoy most about twitter. it's a great/entertaining way to aggregate stuff around the web.

I'm slowly figuring that out...retraining myself to stop and follow the links, bc I always end up entertained or informed more than if I just flew on by.

I guess this is the point of tweetdeck tho where you can parcel all the streams out into types ('friends', 'celebrities', 'sport' etc.)

not that I use tweetdeck; probably should

and the lists, too, not that i use those either. i follow 374 people, many of whom rarely/never post*, and of those who do, not all of their tweets will actually be interesting to me, so i skim them. any more and it might get a bit much (or i might just start using the lists &c). regular tweeters whose tweets actively irk me for whatever reason (like, not a hostile "i don't like this person" reason, more usually "i don't like this person's humour") or who are never interesting or useful will be the ones who get unfollowed.

*the thing is i never know whether they're on twitter reading everyone else's tweets or whether they just got bored and went away! i find this disconcerting. greg you are one of these.

i can't seem to want to have a twitter of my own at all, it is weird to me as i got into so many other internet things. i do run a fake one for the irish police force tho which i can easily update. i prob should just sync my facebook with twitter.

Hmm, I got told off for syncing Facebook with Twitter, as people using both were seeing duplicate updates.

Me and stevem both had the block of text - I deleted mine and changed the PW. Is anyone else using Twitter on a computer having problems seeing the Homepage? I get just one pic and then no other text.

Would just avoid using the site full stop until further notice.

The malicious code doesn't need your password, it just needs you to be signed in when you mouse over the text and you'll retweet it.
