251. THE 100 HOURS I WASTED ON THIS BULLSHIT $PRICELESS, BITCH

unchill english bro (history mayne), Friday, 6 August 2010 11:22 (fifteen years ago)

I'm just past halfway through S2 on reLOST. Sayid kicking the shit out of Benry (I completely forgot about Danielle putting an arrow through him), Benry pushing Locke's buttons, Charlie the social outcast, Kate finding the theatrical beard looking for Boibee medicine, Sawyer getting all New Sheriff In Town and killing tree frogs.

sorprendentemente noioso (onimo), Friday, 6 August 2010 11:25 (fifteen years ago)

I dreamed a few nights ago that Nestor Carbonell was so upset with the outcome of the series (and the whimper with which they let his complex character bow out) that he essentially became Alpert in real life and wrote fan fiction continuing the tale with him as a more central figure.

I liked this better than the actual ending of Lost

no gut busting joke can change history (polyphonic), Friday, 6 August 2010 19:50 (fifteen years ago)

I actually laughed, it's some decent fan service.

The epilogue.

Guess we were right about Walt.

President Keyes, Saturday, 21 August 2010 02:00 (fifteen years ago)

Hurleybird! That was fun.

JimD, Saturday, 21 August 2010 07:51 (fifteen years ago)

from that Dharma video you can infer that they were training the polar bears to turn the wheel. i should have figured this out from the skeleton Charlotte found in the desert, but no...

Mosquepanik at Ground Zero (abanana), Saturday, 21 August 2010 08:48 (fifteen years ago)

ha, the video was such a fan info-dump. sweet ending for walt, though, finally

Nhex, Saturday, 21 August 2010 16:02 (fifteen years ago)

Nice.

jaymc, Saturday, 21 August 2010 16:18 (fifteen years ago)

epilogue was cool, nicely done

sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 25 August 2010 00:08 (fifteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

This sounds awesome.

(¬_¬) (Nicole), Monday, 20 September 2010 15:54 (fifteen years ago)

yes that could be hilarious

Needs Naveen Andrews.

one month passes...

Halfway through S5 in my LOST rerun. Sayid just shot young Ben - introducing my sons to time paradoxes (if Sayid kills Ben he won't be there to kill Ben). I sent them to bed with a homework question - where did Locke's/Alpert's compass come from? :)

a fucking abortion (onimo), Thursday, 28 October 2010 13:20 (fifteen years ago)

I can't hold it in any longer. Went to a friend's wedding this past weekend and Jon Gries was there! Apparently he's buds with the groom. I was too starstruck to approach him, unfortunately.

andrew m., Thursday, 28 October 2010 13:59 (fifteen years ago)

did you ask him "how much you wanna bet i can throw this football over them mountains"

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Thursday, 28 October 2010 14:02 (fifteen years ago)

That's the first thing that crossed my mind. Which is why I spared him by not saying anything.

andrew m., Thursday, 28 October 2010 14:07 (fifteen years ago)

My fiancé saw Jacob yesterday at Toronto union station, and he was lost! Hehe.

two months pass...

Just finished this series... can't be arsed to read upthread but holy fuck this was the lamest, most candy-ass ending imaginable. Good job writers.

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 06:08 (fifteen years ago)

Somewhat surprised one can find a petition to get the dude from Weezer to stop making albums but absolutely none came of getting Damon Lindelof to kill himself.

(kelpolaris) (kelpolaris) (kelpolaris) (kelpolaris) (kelpolaris), Thursday, 30 December 2010 06:46 (fifteen years ago)

I loved the hell out of this show for most of its run, but season 6 and especially the final episode just completely poisoned the entire experience of discovery that I enjoyed so much about it.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Thursday, 30 December 2010 18:39 (fifteen years ago)

Season 5 was the final season of one of my favorite shows ever. Season 6 was a long practical joke that you guys all fell for, LOL

I Am Kurious Assange (polyphonic), Thursday, 30 December 2010 18:42 (fifteen years ago)

Season 2 was my favorite, season 3 I didn't enjoy remotely, and at that point I came in with the common mentality of "well, i've made it this far!". Also there's an odd appeal to feeling part of a cult (following) that analyzes things like tattoos on sharks where are never relevant and never to be provided answers for.

think i might just think of it this way from now on

kanellos (gbx), Thursday, 30 December 2010 19:44 (fifteen years ago)

season six wasn't even that bad, it was the way they ended the show that was the worst imho.

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 19:45 (fifteen years ago)

nah, it wasn't bad, just....pointless

kanellos (gbx), Thursday, 30 December 2010 19:46 (fifteen years ago)

all the ancient history stuff could have been so awesome but it just ended up being so stupid.

the biggest mistake this show ever made was convincing itself it was about ~characters~ and not ~super awesome sci-fi weird spooky shit~

gr8080, Thursday, 30 December 2010 19:47 (fifteen years ago)

p much

kanellos (gbx), Thursday, 30 December 2010 19:48 (fifteen years ago)

the last 2 episodes were all-time for-the-history-books here's-how-not-to-do-it utter shit

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Thursday, 30 December 2010 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

"all the ancient history stuff could have been so awesome"

disagree. no show has ever managed to backfill mythology in a satisfactory way.

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 30 December 2010 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

i love how they spent whole episodes on Richard Eyeliner only to have him end up in his final scene looking over Miles' (pointless character) shoulder when fixing the hydraulics of the plane. Good use of character efficiency and rank.
Lupidas was the worst character. Thank god they kept that pilot shirt on him so people could remember why the fuck anyone should care about him.
Charles Witmore's plotline weaved into seasons worth of storytelling? No problem, we'll just kill him off before anyone wonders why he (or his wife, or Daniel Farraday... the worst actor) was even mentioned in the first place.

The whole LOTR ending: shiny, liquid, monumental task (ring = cork, Desmond+Jack+Locke = Sam+Frodo+Gollum) parallel was just slopped together in the 11th hour obviously.

I mean, I could go on or spend hours reading the 50k unread skipped messages above but I'm just too bummed to. Fuck you JJ Abrams.

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:07 (fifteen years ago)

I mean, even the worst episodes in the first 5 episodes (Jack goes to Thailand, the Soap Opera couple with the gems) were somewhat defensible compared to this "oh fuck, how do we try and end this"

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

^^^first 5 seasons^^^

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

hahaha everytime this thread gets bumped i am instantly filled w/NERD RAGE thx to how bummed out i was by the ending

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:11 (fifteen years ago)

'even the worst episodes in the first 5 episodes (Jack goes to Thailand, the Soap Opera couple with the gems) were somewhat defensible compared to this "oh fuck, how do we try and end this"'

you don't think they are symptoms of the same disease?

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:13 (fifteen years ago)

Anytime a TV producer says "don't worry, there is a grand story/theme unifying all of this together, just wait and you will find out eventually"...

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:13 (fifteen years ago)

the most annoying thing is that after season 3 they went to ABC and asked for a finish date, IN ORDER TO SAVE THEMSELVES THE TROUBLE OF FLOUNDERING once the show got cancelled in season 9 or w/e. as a fan i remember being so stoked at this announcement and feeling assured that they were going to make the most out of every episode now that they knew exactly how many they had left.

then they went and started introducing new characters/arcs when they had like 4 episodes left. so dumb.

gr8080, Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:16 (fifteen years ago)

i think the thing that pisses me off even more than the awful ending are the ppl on the internet who try to defend it

max, Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

Surely there are no such creatures.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

also... Sayid Jarrah may be the worst written character in the history of TV. Gah....

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

It's a good thing he ended up in "the afterlife" with the woman he loved, killed for, kept a picture in his wallet for decades... lollllll

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:22 (fifteen years ago)

well give credit where it's due, that was the actor's idea, wasn't it?

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

Dunno how Sayid made the final cut for walking into the light when he was still casually killing dudes in purgatory.

onimo, Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:30 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, was wondering if he bribed the writers. poor Nadia.

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 December 2010 20:31 (fifteen years ago)
