Bob was instantly in hideous pain, wailing indeed, and the match was abandoned due to this Baker caused toe injury. A quick trip off to hospital later on tour revealed that said to was not just broken but had become cancerous. Within the year Marley was up there with his namesake Jacob.
Whilst the causal connection between a bad tackle and cancer is highly unlikely and certainly won't stand up in a court of law, Baker blames himself to this day for cutting Bob's career short - and at the same time halving the birth rate in Jamaica.

but i'm sure he's good on BBC London so remarkably the classics just about have it. i'm generally impressed/envious of his career/fingers in pies ala Keith Allen.

In fact he was totally non-rockist at the NME, he was a soulboy and was into pop music, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire etc

I must admit Vicky is probably right. I thought having a morning show I really liked would help me get up int he morning, but actually i usuall listen until 9 and am then late for work*. Any news on if he is moving anywhere. Getting a nice Sunday morning show???
*Not that in the scheme of things this really matter.s
― Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)
Oh, when he was on the NME, his first (I think) singles review column was all raving about disco 12" singles. Most of which had terrible titles like "I'll never forget my favourite disco" but as I've never heared the tracks, I'll refrain.
― mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)
He'd write stuff like "It sounds like Highway Star, and I've always hated Highway Star" which was a LIE! which he admitted later. It was more pretence than the CLASH!!! (I mean this, btw). Also, when "So it goes" had a retrospective, a lot of the lost vids were supplied by DB. Hang on, who had a video recorder in 1976-1977? Very rich people, that's who.
Despite all that, I vote Classic.

It would be nice if they could do the obvious thing and put him back together with Danny Kelly again. It seems silly to have them doing different shows on the same station.
Giving Jon Gaunt the breakfast slot would probably be the worst thing ever, but I doubt I'll be listening to it anyway.

Yes, it's Son of Spooky Tooth guy, not Spooky Tooth guy. Also can you be called Spooky Tooth guy when you only appeared on one Spooky Tooth album and it's not what you're best known for anyway?

That Gazza album only has the man himself on three tracks! Gazza, not Danny Baker. Wot a ripoff. Wot a low moment in Gilbert O'Sullivan's career too.

Lineker has kept schtum on twitter about the whole thing - dunno if he's dropped Baker or they're just letting the dust settle.
