Your Boring Saturday Night

well, the town where i live has a college ... and a lot of college students (or recent college grads). and i am 40 now. draw whatever conclusions you want.

If it's not Austin, I can't say anything for sure. I was just in danger of becoming of of those Austin people who went to college there, maybe got a degree and maybe didn't, and just stayed to work on my healthy glowing tan for the rest of my life. I think Austin people know the type.

It sounds terrible to me! And I guess 'the type' is the type that'll go down with the ship just because they're too stoned to notice it's going down. I know I'm being unfair to Austin as a city, but 'the type' does persist there.

Visiting my parents. Again. My mother has a lot of health issues and I've been staying with them about one weekend a month to keep her company but these trips are so draining emotionally. It's only 11 and I'm exhausted. Nothing on TV. Bored. Probably just go to sleep. bah.

"vacationing" @ the in-laws. took my kid & his cousins (14, 11, 15) out for mediocre pizza dinner now sipping wine and reading Simon Winchester's Professor & The Madman while they yuk it up & watch DVD.

feeling so wild I might EAT SOME FAT-FREE COOKIES before I settle in for yet another fitful night's sleep.

tonight puts to rest a three-night bender wherein i passed out without setting my alarm and showed up for work late two days in a row, so this boring saturday night is a v welcome & well-deserved one. so far have listened to young dro, ate a hamburger, finished colouring a poster for a free outdoor oldtime country music festival a friend of mine is organizing & had nice thoughts in anticipation of a boris show i've got a ticket to sunday, a girl i'm seeing monday, a trip to edinburgh on tuesday. maybe not so much boring as just kicking it alone in my room.
