I was trying to figure out of Spencer was having an out-of-body experience. (I'm also completely confused -- an "8-head"?)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Weirdly, I just saw Bez on Wardour Street on the corner of St Anne's Court. Spooky.

Ol' prune face (Mark C), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

double forehead, ned

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Now I'm even more confused! What in the world is a double-forehead? The equivalent to a double chin?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Whoa, I just realized my forehead is exactly as tall as four of my fingers!

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

A fucking big forehead, Ned.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

why are big foreheads good? is this some kind of obscure fertility connection?

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I've seriously never heard either of those terms in my life. I just hear about big foreheads (I have one myself, especially in comparison to my sister).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Big Forehead = Brains

Which makes me and Markelby geniuses

Ol' Dirty Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Speaking of Miss Lohan...
Last week I saw Fez (from That 70's Show) give Richard Jefferson (of the New Jersey Nets) a THUG HUG.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Bez made some comment about gays in an interview or something. I think he was just 'having it large' and being a bit of a dimbo. To his credit, he did apologise about it later. I met them once and they were very nice, gentlemen in fact. Albeit gentlemen in search of cigarette papers. Perhaps PF is barking up a completely different tree. How should I know? Eh?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, a different tree.

The definitive statement about Happy Mondays was made not by me but by Andrew Dean, in a letter to Steady Mike, which with predictably uncanny recall Mike recited, roughly, to me, in August or September 1999. I liked the letter, as Mike recalled it, because it managed to convey contempt and hatred while eschewing obscenity.

the bluefox, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, do tell.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't - I don't remember the wording. I have given an impression of what it said, I hope.

Mr. Dean himself, or Steady Mike, might be able to fill us in properly.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I have seen Dominik Diamond at Celtic a lot. I didn't realise he counted as a celebrity (I used to go to school with him, so don't consider him a celebrity anyway, but I didn't think anyone else did either).

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Was it just about music/dancing and related matters or other things?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i ate 10 tacos next to jeff weaver last night

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

also, GOOD on s.chow.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

PJM, it was about the band - 'music and dancing', yes. It wasn't about crimes they had committed, or anything; save of course crimes against pop.

But like I say - I didn't pen the letter.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to see Spencer's name in the tabloids as "Handsome LA mystery man-did he split up Lindsay and Wilmer?"

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

They can all chase after us for scoops, we can airily say 'no comment'...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Details! Skinnier than I was expecting - She seems to have lost a bit of baby-fat, but looks very healthy. I'm firmly in the 'I think they're real' category as 'they' seem to have shrunk a bit too. Beautiful milky skin with freckles - she thankfully abandoned that overtan/frosted look she was getting. Amazing voice. Blue jeans, low cut black top (but not really racy). Seemed very nice (hasn't gone all Tara Reid). No Fez (according to someone, they broke up last Thursday - I was like "wtf? how do you know that?"). HUGE bodyguard. I unfortunately completely lost my ability to speak near her, however I busted some dancefloor moves when they played "Gimme the Night"!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

*bows in acknowledgement* Spencer, indeed = the bomb.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

(Me, I would have been stuck somewhere in a pit with a huge wedge of asiago cheese dumped on top of me.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

That's quite a bukkakeuphimism.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm getting a little bummed out because I just realized there aren't really any more actresses I want to see in person. Oh wait, I forgot about Nicole Kidman!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

The cream of Glaswegian writing talent, William McIllvanney, his brother Hugh (I think) and Alasdair Gray in the same bar at the corner of Byres Road and Great Western road.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Saturday, 20 November 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 20 November 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to see The Big Man around that area occasionally.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Saturday, 20 November 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Jason Priestley at Finding Neverland at the Arclight last weekend. He's gotten all chunky and hot. I was checking out his flabby ass without realizing it was him just before the movie at the Poquito Mas across the street. I thought he was just another sexy out-of-shape khaki-clad young LA dad-type.

Titsy Borgnine (Arthur), Sunday, 21 November 2004 01:06 (twenty-one years ago)

shell at justus kohncke, at the art school, maybe.

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Last summer my brother-in-law and his wife took us to a supposedly trendy LA restaurant called Dolce. Very clubby, reservations checked at door by bouncer-like guy w/clipboard. Inside a bustling bar scene, people waiting to be seated and everybody gawking like crazy. tourists -- prime celebrity spotting in other words.
Food much better than expected. Drinks consumed. Towards the end of the evening a diminutive woman w/ towering afro toddles up to our table. She leans in, exhaling vodka breath. "I'M RICK JAMES' NIECE!"
"Uh, that's nice. Sorry your uncle passed away, etc." She leaves not a moment too soon, only to reappear and plunk her butt down on the banquette next to my wife. Launches into a long monologue about the dearly departed, and amusing quickly turns into annoying. So I decide to try and get rid of her. Hey, I've "had a few" as well.
"That's all well and good, but you know Rick James ripped off George Clinton and took it to the bank."
In a split second she's two inches from my face. "FUCK YOU MUTHAFUCKA..."
Cut to the chase: she gets ejected from the joint and her boyfriend, who's about 6' 10" and wearing Harlem Globetrotters sweats actually comes over to apologize.
As we're leaving I apologize to the guys at the door, you know, sorry to make trouble. "Yeah, well, it wasn't your fault. She had a bad week -- her uncle died and her tour got cancelled."
"What? She's a musician?"
"Yeah, that's Cindy Blackmon, Lenny Kravitz' drummer."
OMGWTF!
Does she count as a celebrity?

lovebug starski (lovebug starski), Sunday, 21 November 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'M RICK JAMES NIECE BITCH!

lovebug starski (lovebug starski), Sunday, 21 November 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

This is a second hand story, but amusing nonetheless. I was wokring a temp job in college, and my supervisor was an pretty attractive woman a few years out of college at the time....Anyway, this was when Glam Slam was still in operation in Minneapolis and Prince still owned it etc...

She and her friends went out to dance at Glam Slam, and she was wearing a catsuit apparently. A security guard said that Prince wanted to meet her and so she agreed to go to Prince's private lair in the club cuz she was a fan.....In any case, Prince was reclined, surrounded by his "people" so the security dude took her over to Prince. Apparently, Prince just kinda looked her up and down without saying anything for an uncomfortably long period of time. Then he finally asked the question: "Is that a MYSTERY suit?"....

She was baffled, and finally just said, "Um....yeah...I guess." Then more uncomfortable silence, and when it became apparent that she wasn't going to instantly start stripping and having sex with him, the security dude said she should probably go back to her friends.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Sunday, 21 November 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 15 January 2005 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw Fab and Albert from the Strokes and Drew Barrymore at the bar around the corner from Irving Plaza after the 1st of the last 3 Guided by Voices shows in NY this year. Yes, I was drunk and offered them Klonopin and had Drew say hi to my friend in Albany. She seemed kinda hassled to do it but was nice about it. My friend I was with said they were trying to score coke but I'm not sure I believe him.

Colin O, Sunday, 16 January 2005 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Not because I don't think they'd be rying to score coke, it's just I don't believe him is all.

Colin O, Sunday, 16 January 2005 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

was just in new york for the last week. saw owen wilson at the broome st. grille (short), carson queer eye waiting for someone in front of my hotel (deranged; flanked by men), some designer lady from a tv show called surprise by design that my girlfriend recognized, i think her name was becky, drinking in the bar of our hotel (ugliest coat i have ever seen; trashed), bobby brown walking down 5th ave (fast walker; flanked by reality tv crew), a couple others that i might remember soon but now i am busy nursing a probably broken liver.
