Ooh, that blog post from Pamela took a dark turn. I wasn't really rooting against her, honest! :(

2 + 2 is vah-gi-nah (Eric H.), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 18:47 (fifteen years ago)

What's with the turquoise sports jacket in that pic?

balls and adieu (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 18:48 (fifteen years ago)

haha no, I was all like SMASH THEM and cheering when Pamela went into the red, too! And I enjoyed that run where John was super-efficient and focused and controlling the board for a bit. Like I think I was on my feet for part of it. I think a complaint should be lodged, since Pamela's comeback was aided by getting some buzzer coaching during the break -- did JAYMC get a buzzer refresher? I call foul.

Allison's guess-face irked me, too, like: you are on your third day of Jeopardy. You don't need to telegraph to us that you're unsure of the answer just so you don't look stupid if you're wrong. And she was doing this with stuff she was clearly pretty sure of. I couldn't help comparing her fussiness to the precision of her haircut: I imagined her showing up at the salon with a ruler and double-checking the evenness of each individual hair.

"smash".. them, eh

kim cardassian (s1ocki), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:01 (fifteen years ago)

I really wasn't getting much of the ewww-Alison stuff; maybe I'm inured from rooting for narcissistic Republican baseball players.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:02 (fifteen years ago)

"television seems so much more REAL and VITAL when a person you know is on it!"
THIS IS SO TRUE

i'm gonna need a +1 so me & a friend can kick you in the balls (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:29 (fifteen years ago)

YES
finding out that she bragged about being related to brigham young seals the deal: she's an asshole

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:34 (fifteen years ago)

That means she's related to Steve Young too.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:40 (fifteen years ago)

Which also seals the deal: she's an asshole.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:40 (fifteen years ago)

Tempted to post the pic of her eating a greasy In-N-Out burger from her blog, but I'll be nice.

Brigham Young had like 1700 hundred kids though, right? Not really that impressive.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:41 (fifteen years ago)

If you were really you'd post pictures of her tomatoes.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:42 (fifteen years ago)

no offense to mormons, but aren't they all related to each other? hellloooo?

_▂▅▇█▓▒░◕‿‿◕░▒▓█▇▅▂_ (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:43 (fifteen years ago)

I don't know, Steve, some of those Chinese convert dudes who ride Muni probably aren't related to Steve Young.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:44 (fifteen years ago)

OMG the post on her blog about the new TV is the most insufferable thing I've ever read/seen.

googleproof link pls

cozen, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:46 (fifteen years ago)

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:46 (fifteen years ago)

br@nd0nr0b3rg (dot) blogspot (dot) com is her and her husband's blog, about the fourth entry down

he's always been a bit of an anti-climb Max (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:47 (fifteen years ago)

ha found it, can't believe she pwned jaymc

cozen, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:48 (fifteen years ago)

I had no idea that Chicago was "hog butcher to the world" until your Hometown Howdy, jay.

Who is Carl Sandburg?

Pictures of her tomatoes are the third entry down.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:48 (fifteen years ago)

You know, I have a huge tomato garden in my backyard too but I don't blog about it! It's boring.

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

i can't believe she put that much effort into blogging about her tv

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

And I have many heirloom varieties this year. xp

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

You know, I have a huge tomato garden in my backyard too but I don't blog about it! It's boring.

I would agree...then I remember my various garden posts on my blog and go, 'Oops.'

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

You could at least post pics on the WHAT DO YOUR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES LOOK LIKE? thread.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

garden is fine, i think -- you grew that, whatever

but "omg we bought a tv!" is not interesting

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

These people blog about their tomatoes a lot more than you do w/your garden, Ned. xxp

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:54 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, that would be scary!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:55 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, the garden one doesn't bother me, but the TV series of pics is ridic - especially when you end it with "This TV is so cool we're a little embarrassed to own it...". Not too embarrassed to post a bunch of pictures on your blog though!

he's always been a bit of an anti-climb Max (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:55 (fifteen years ago)

The "we bought a tv!" was bad, but mostly because it seemed like such a smug way to bring up the Jeopardy appearance.

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:55 (fifteen years ago)

Here the TV displays an almost-life-sized image of our old TV.

mind blown

You’re going off of her word that the farmer’s wife is the farmer’s wife? (dyao), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

hate that you guys had to humanize her by linking to her blog. now i feel bad for having instant dislike of her via her appearance on tv quiz show

dell (del), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:57 (fifteen years ago)

It's pretty clear that Alison is doing most of the writing on that blog, but it's named after her husband and the entries are posted under "Alison + Brandon" which is all kind of gross to me.

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:57 (fifteen years ago)

hah, ok, maybe i'm back in the hatin game

dell (del), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

yeah that kind of thing weirds me out

xp

"hate that you guys had to humanize her by linking to her blog. now i feel bad for having instant dislike of her via her appearance on tv quiz show"

Blog doesn't make me like her any more. Maybe less actually!

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

OTOH Pamela's piece up above literally had me near tears.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

I feel awful for being like "hurry up and decide which category already" last night.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe "Allison + Brandon" is a contractual agreement like Lennon/McCartney.

Warum habt Ihr mich totgefüttert? (Abbott), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

I wonder if the new TV will be their Yoko.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

i'm hard hearted enough to not feel all that bad about it

"blogging" with husband about her tv + braggin about being related to brigham young + smug + faux apologetic about guessing answers + beating my friend at jeopardy = major asshole

i feel a little bad for pamela though

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

I don't really get the dislike for alison itt. let's be honest here, if she hadn't taken down our main man jaymc, she would just be another small time jeopardy winner, who a few people would want to smash.

You’re going off of her word that the farmer’s wife is the farmer’s wife? (dyao), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:01 (fifteen years ago)

Blog doesn't make me like her any more. Maybe less actually!

fair enough. i didn't even bother to read it... but seeing pictures of her in her kitchen and stuff i was reminded that she is a real person and not just some smug person standing in the way of an ilx person and thousand$ of wads of fresh bills

dell (del), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:01 (fifteen years ago)

not just some smug person standing in the way of an ilx person and thousand$ of wads of fresh bills

supposed to read "smug caricature"

dell (del), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:02 (fifteen years ago)

but she DID take down my friend and main main jaymc

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:02 (fifteen years ago)

yeah exactly

horseshoe, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:03 (fifteen years ago)

i am allowed to not like her for her painfully symmetrical hair and perfect composure and fear of mustaches and lack of interesting anecdotes

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:04 (fifteen years ago)

Got a Tilda Swinton in Michael Clayton vibe from Alison, so I couldn't bring myself to hate her either.

2 + 2 is vah-gi-nah (Eric H.), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 20:04 (fifteen years ago)

she's got a quick thumb
that's nothing on the charm, intellect, and warm heart of our jaymc
