@LipsmackedB: I dont think John thought the really hot chick to his right was going to beat him on Jeopardy by $22,000. Feel silly, dont you John.

@karizmatic_1: I could do w/o the meet/greet portion of jeopardy cuz these are some boring ppl who have nothing exciting 2 say ESP when they're on4sev days

@gdabull: @Renee_Olstead LOVE a Ginger at $85,102 on JEOPARDY - go ALLISON

FEEL SILLY, DONT YOU JOHN

max, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:04 (fifteen years ago)

Actually, knowing that she was already a two-day champ may have made me a little resigned to my fate, tbh.

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:07 (fifteen years ago)

@Saraguilar: loves listening to Dude watch Jeopardy. "WHO IS P DIDDY??"

gato busca pleitos (Eazy), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

haha i felt something like this. i swear i saw john hitting the buzzer fruitlessly a lot. at one point my viewing companion had to be like, "it's just a game." to which i was like, "you don't know John!"

Yeah, I got really excited watching this -- television seems so much more REAL and VITAL when a person you know is on it! -- and then at some point I was pumping my fist in the air and I was like: oh, hey, I guess this is how people feel about watching sports.

That was my most fun television-watching experience in a while. Congratulations, John!

Lots of people on Twitter commented on the Doctor Who and Buffy questions.

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:28 (fifteen years ago)

weird

kim cardassian (s1ocki), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:29 (fifteen years ago)

Also someone tweeted at Keri Hilson to inform her that she was a correct response on the show, I guess not realizing that it was Keri RUSSELL.

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:30 (fifteen years ago)

(Or maybe not realizing that @misskeribaby was Hilson.)

P.S. Wow, the end of Pamela's story is a real tear-jerker! I'm not sure how anyone got annoyed by her speech -- it didn't exactly sound a personal choice. (To be honest I thought maybe she'd had a hearing impairment.)

oɔsıqɐu (nabisco), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:33 (fifteen years ago)

Pamela seemed really, really nervous.

Warum habt Ihr mich totgefüttert? (Abbott), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:33 (fifteen years ago)

what was the end of her story

and also

what was the beginning

kim cardassian (s1ocki), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)

Link is upthread -- she talks about how her son died recently at 21, and he'd always loved Jeopardy, and they played together, and he tried out once, etc. So there might have been some emotion around that as well as nerves.

oɔsıqɐu (nabisco), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:38 (fifteen years ago)

aw

kim cardassian (s1ocki), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

'main man' and 'mainframe' were the only ones i got right. you did great jaymc.

sunny successor, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

If Jaymc had kept this look, he may have scared off Allison and become King of the Board:

i was only annoyed by her because she's not John tbh. now i feel bad. found Alison genuinely annoying, tho.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 18:43 (fifteen years ago)

Ooh, that blog post from Pamela took a dark turn. I wasn't really rooting against her, honest! :(

2 + 2 is vah-gi-nah (Eric H.), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 18:47 (fifteen years ago)

What's with the turquoise sports jacket in that pic?

balls and adieu (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 18:48 (fifteen years ago)

haha no, I was all like SMASH THEM and cheering when Pamela went into the red, too! And I enjoyed that run where John was super-efficient and focused and controlling the board for a bit. Like I think I was on my feet for part of it. I think a complaint should be lodged, since Pamela's comeback was aided by getting some buzzer coaching during the break -- did JAYMC get a buzzer refresher? I call foul.

Allison's guess-face irked me, too, like: you are on your third day of Jeopardy. You don't need to telegraph to us that you're unsure of the answer just so you don't look stupid if you're wrong. And she was doing this with stuff she was clearly pretty sure of. I couldn't help comparing her fussiness to the precision of her haircut: I imagined her showing up at the salon with a ruler and double-checking the evenness of each individual hair.

oɔsıqɐu (nabisco), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 18:58 (fifteen years ago)

"smash".. them, eh

kim cardassian (s1ocki), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:01 (fifteen years ago)

I really wasn't getting much of the ewww-Alison stuff; maybe I'm inured from rooting for narcissistic Republican baseball players.

YES
finding out that she bragged about being related to brigham young seals the deal: she's an asshole

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:34 (fifteen years ago)

That means she's related to Steve Young too.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:40 (fifteen years ago)

Which also seals the deal: she's an asshole.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:40 (fifteen years ago)

Tempted to post the pic of her eating a greasy In-N-Out burger from her blog, but I'll be nice.

Brigham Young had like 1700 hundred kids though, right? Not really that impressive.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:41 (fifteen years ago)

If you were really you'd post pictures of her tomatoes.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:42 (fifteen years ago)

no offense to mormons, but aren't they all related to each other? hellloooo?

I don't know, Steve, some of those Chinese convert dudes who ride Muni probably aren't related to Steve Young.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:44 (fifteen years ago)

OMG the post on her blog about the new TV is the most insufferable thing I've ever read/seen.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:48 (fifteen years ago)

You know, I have a huge tomato garden in my backyard too but I don't blog about it! It's boring.

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

i can't believe she put that much effort into blogging about her tv

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

And I have many heirloom varieties this year. xp

I would agree...then I remember my various garden posts on my blog and go, 'Oops.'

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

You could at least post pics on the WHAT DO YOUR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES LOOK LIKE? thread.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

garden is fine, i think -- you grew that, whatever

but "omg we bought a tv!" is not interesting

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

These people blog about their tomatoes a lot more than you do w/your garden, Ned. xxp

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 July 2010 19:54 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, that would be scary!
