"California College Conservative Union Caucus" wuz robbed

DâM-EdnA-FunK (get bent), Tuesday, 13 July 2010 05:06 (thirteen years ago) link

I do love the Guttenberg episode, though, especially for Guttenberg himself. Rationally I know he can't possibly be that much of a nice person, because it's impossible, but damnit if I didn't want to give him a hug after I watched that ep.

kenan, Tuesday, 13 July 2010 05:37 (thirteen years ago) link

That episode undid the damage to Guttenberg's reputation that that Stonecutters song on The Simpsons did in 1995.

kenan, Tuesday, 13 July 2010 05:42 (thirteen years ago) link

frankly, the blame was on us, for his stardom and the holding back of the electric car.

DâM-EdnA-FunK (get bent), Tuesday, 13 July 2010 05:43 (thirteen years ago) link

And we're still at it! Damn us all!

kenan, Tuesday, 13 July 2010 05:57 (thirteen years ago) link

I enjoyed the episode's jabs at his narcissism (or probably just his character's narcissism).
"Do you know who said that?"
"Steve Guttenberg?"
"Yes."

The art and wine were amazing, and he seals up the deal with stealing Kyle's female friend at the end. A+

his narcissism (or probably just his character's narcissism)

No, it's probably his. The only reason for a 50-yr-old man to stay that cut is enormous self-regard or homosexuality. I hope to look like that when I'm 50, but I fear I lack the self-regard.

kenan, Tuesday, 13 July 2010 14:27 (thirteen years ago) link

Well, you could always give homosexuality a try

turtles all the way down (mh), Tuesday, 13 July 2010 14:30 (thirteen years ago) link

I did. Those were very conspicuously erection-free hours.

kenan, Tuesday, 13 July 2010 14:32 (thirteen years ago) link

Just finished rewatching season one and "Steve Guttenberg" and "Celebrate Ricky Sargulesh" still hold up as my 2 favs, "James Rolf High School Twentieth Reunion" in 3rd... so well done.

Finale is really quite good too I think. Was it written as a finale or did it just work out that way?

When S2 came out on dvd, you could get both seasons at Amazon for crazy cheap (like $25 together), but I just checked and that deal is long gone.

Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 08:04 (thirteen years ago) link

"lizzy caplan underwear scene"

this could make so many things worthwhile, but it's just a little bit of icing for this series

mh, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 16:54 (thirteen years ago) link

Just got a ticket for that Party Down marathon at Cinefamily :)

S2E5: "Steve Guttenberg's Birthday"

I have never seen this show because I don't subscribe to Starz, but I need to see this episode. Anything that Steve has done in the past decade or so has been amusing.
