All I'm doing now is watching Kids in the Hall.
― n/a, Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:26 (eighteen years ago)
I remember some KitH thing that was kind of an MTV parody, it was about a new dance or style or something...it was probably the most dated thing they ever did, but awesomely so.

― dan m, Thursday, 20 September 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)
colette, how long have you been looking? and what are you looking for, again?
― sisut, Thursday, 20 September 2007 17:55 (eighteen years ago)
Colette it took me three (3) months to find a full-time job, and that was a pretty shitty full-time job.
― n/a, Thursday, 20 September 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)
Colette, email me at naamme @ yahoo dot com. I don't think I have your email.
Hey just in case people are still looking for bikes, I saw this place written up in Chicago Weekly, sounds like a great shop:

Actually that whole issue was pretty great. They cataloged the "best of the south side". That record store in Beverly made it, along with Salonica and a bunch of other places that have been mentioned on Chi threads gone by.
― dan m, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:08 (eighteen years ago)
Never mind colette, I found your email, Sarah had sent it to me a while back.
― n/a, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)
i guess i first started seriously looking the beginning of august. i'm not even getting calls back from temp agencies (i'm registered with new 0ffice but in that time have had 6 days of work). i know it's a slow process, but man it's depressing!
sisut, i have a masters degree in nonprofit management. i've been applying for communications posts and events planning and some grantwriting. plus general admin assistant roles, working in shops, etc. bleh.
― colette, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:17 (eighteen years ago)
2x what n/a said...it took me about 3 months of looking. I'm in non-profit fundraising/development so let me know where you've been looking and I'll keep an eye out, too. I know Teen Living Programs was looking for a grantwriter a while back, but I think they've filled it. Go ahead and email me at katie @ lacasanorte dot org

From the AV Club interview with Uwe Boll: "...Dave foley really went for it. He event went for a full-frontal nudity scene, which was surprising for me also. I was sitting behind my video desk and couldn't believe it! He did it without telling me. He was supposed to get up from his bed and close his bathrobe, but he didn't close it. We were all sitting there laughing our ass off. He played it super-cool. It's those kinds of offensive scenes that make Postal special, because it's harsher than what we're used to from even the Farrelly brothers' comedies. It's like one step more than even Borat. Postal is like Borat without the black bars."

Remember when I was talking about how the word "breaststroke" had give straight consonants? Well, so does "postscript." I wonder if there are any others.
― jaymc, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)
I seem to remember that "bookkeeper" is the only word with three straight sets of double letters. Is that right?
― n/a, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)
Wow, the rest of that Uwe Boll interview is gold.
― Jordan, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)
I think so, Nick.

Don't you know that English is the only language that counts, Katie?
― dan m, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:53 (eighteen years ago)
The Internet has ruined everything:
Consonant Strings
Some common words with an uninterrupted string of five consonants are BACKSPLASH, BACKSTRETCH, BACKSTROKE, BIRTHPLACE, BREASTSTROKE, DOWNSTREAM, DOWNTHRUST, DUMBSTRUCK, EIGHTHS, ERSTWHILE, HEARTTHROB, LENGTHS, LIGHTPROOF, MATCHSTICK, NIGHTCLOTHES, NIGHTCLUB, NIGHTDRESS, POSTSCRIPT, STRENGTHS, THOUSANDTHS, THUMBSCREW, TWELFTHS, WARMTHS, and WITCHCRAFT. ANGSTS is the shortest word with five consonants in a row.
These words have six consecutive consonants: ARCHCHRONICLER, CATCHPHRASE, ESCHSCHOLTZIA, HANTZSCHIA, KNIGHTSBRIDGE, LATCHSTRING, POSTPHTHISIC, and WELTSCHMERZ. A popular staple food in Ukraine is a beetroot soup called borsch, which occurs in English dictionaries with a variety of spellings including borshch and borscht, giving rise to plurals containing a string of six consonants: BORSHCHS and BORSCHTS.
HIRSCHSPRUNG'S (DISEASE) has seven consecutive consonants, as does SCHTSCHUROWSKIA. The shortest such word is TSKTSKS. All of these words can be found in major English dictionaries.
― jaymc, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:55 (eighteen years ago)
"Archchronicler" sounds like a really lame comic book villan.
