iPhone apps S/D

i tried playing game for 2 seconds on train last night and didn't understand it one bit.

I'm glad Drop7 is working though.

well because i'm using the free app i only have gravity mode so maybe i need a more basic explanation--why do some orbs get huge and others stay tiny; what should i be aiming for, etc.

orbs grow until they touch a boundary, being either the wall or another orb

my high score in supernova is 497 and my highest combo is 11x iirc

gravity and normal modes are useless - supernova is what the game is

but if i shoot an orb at the wall it often just bounces off and gets enormous?

they start growing after they come to a rest so if you land an orb next to the wall it will be small but if you bounce it off into the open it will be big

for lols try aiming straight ahead with your first shot

My high score is like 39, and I've been playing this since it was just a flash game called "Gimme Friction." I must be playing it wrong.

Gravity mode is my fav.

I've gotten every goddamn star in Angry Birds, though.

i am so so bad at Angry Birds. have not finished the free version.

installed iOS 4.0 last week and now as of last night all my apps are crashing on load, feel like i'm one day closer to throwing this thing in a lake and buying a jitterbug

try resynching the phone with itunes, i had the same problem.

my 3G has been running OK with iOS 4.0, but I notice a lot of apps are really slow when they first launch - sometimes totally unresponsive (Safari does this, actually). it's fairly annoying. I am thinking pretty seriously about a droid x at this point.

not because of the OS not working on my 3G, but just apple's b.s. in general.

My latest issue is that if I sync my phone at all, all the podcasts lose their timing information, so that if I stop them, I have to start at the beginning again. Re-downloading them from the phone fixes this. 4.0.1 MIGHT have fixed this bug too.

Byline is messing up hardcore for me these days. If I have, say, 60 posts to pull in and cache, it will shut down the app at least four times guaranteed (requiring me to restart) before successfully caching everything. Also you can't really read the posts until it finishes caching or it takes really long time to open the next one and/or gets confused and shuts down.

Is there an app to help two or more people to find each other via real time coordinates? This would be great, rather than talking and giving poor directions and bumping into each other.

Google Latitude?

foursquare/gowalla?

i tried to write something like this to let friends find one another in big clubs/gigs, but the GPS is too crap indoors to make it work

Finger Physics is the first iPhone game I am actually addicted to.

Also Moodagent seems pretty good. it doesn't exactly do what it promises, but is a nice alternative to Genius and shuffle. Now make an app that boosts my itunes volume PLEASE

i still have no idea how multitasking works on the iphone. basically it just lets every open app sit in that multitasking area. i still open twitter and it hasn't been updated for days. thinking about HTC phone a lot.

i was wondering about this too the other day. it seems like it's only really multitasking for things that can operate without being in the forefront, like apps that playing music. otherwise, it's just a list of things i've used recently, email, phone, games, etc. kinda useless.

The only things that can multitask are apps that play music, apps that do location stuff, voip apps and apps that need extra time to complete something (like an upload). Everything else is just fast-switching: the app is frozen when it goes into the background and then melted when its resumed.

The switch bar doesn't show what apps are running, it shows all the apps you've recently used, in the order you've used them.

4G doesnt exist yet. I busted an AT&T guy on the phone when he referred to the lastest as 'iphone 4G'. He admitted iphone 4 only works on 3G. also dodgy: sprint are advertising a 4G network when they obvs dont have one. so weird.

Generally people just mean "4th generation phone" when they say 4G in regards to the iPhone. Sprint has 4G but it's not complete coverage yet.

yeah I see what he meant but it irks me when I see how ATT have managed to get everyone calling it iphone 4G when no 4G networks have been launched. Maybe everyone is calling it 4G because the last two versions referenced the network in the name. Either way it seems dodgy and misleading at best. I coordinated the release testing for 4G and 3GPP LTE at that company with the lame blue map. (fyi: It was super stressful and sucked incredibly. DO not recommend) Anyway, there are sites where the 4G code is in place but it wont be turned on until it is officially launched (late 2010 or 2011). I cant imagine ATT being too far behind. Im 90% sure 4G is not backwards compatible with 3G or 3G with first phase LTE. I don't think 3G will get turned off when 4G gets turned on, still a 3GPP LTE phone cant drop back to 3G if it cant pick up an LTE signal so by that logic ditto for 4G, I guess? TBH im mostly pissed because i really want that phone but cant bring myself the shell out the bucks when i know the next one is going to be 80 times faster than the current 3G iphone 4.

re Sprint: i don't know how Sprint are getting away with saying they have a 4G network and 4G handsets. Their '4G' is just WiMax and doesn't come close to meeting the 4G speed and frequency standards. Its still a lot faster than 3G though - 7MB/Sec over max 20 Mhz channel download average vs 3G download average of 0.5MB/sec. 4G should have a download rate of 12 MB/sec for local wireless access and 128 MB per second for high mobility.
