utica, ny: the only place i have ever seen kids playing in the street next to a car on fire. it was like sarajevo, or one of those movies from the '80s about white teachers who go to bad neighborhoods to condescend to black people.

That white rounded conical object in the middle foreground of 118 might be a road salt depository, in which case someplace far north enough to get serious snow.

Seen that pic before but I'm not sure - Mediterranean? Something to do with the crusades?

Is this some kind of cemetery?

StanM, Sunday, 11 July 2010 12:33 (sixteen years ago)

I was going to pretend they were really small tower blocks, but you're right, it is a cemetery

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 July 2010 12:44 (sixteen years ago)

Correct!

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 July 2010 21:29 (sixteen years ago)

but the signage in pic 1 is in mandarin isnt it? wtf this game is impossible.

rent, Sunday, 11 July 2010 21:35 (sixteen years ago)

Turns out they use four alphabets in Japan - one is the same as mandarin, one is the same as Latin. So you see signs in English and you think it's weirdly helpful, but it's not actually that strange

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 July 2010 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

hate this game

rent, Sunday, 11 July 2010 21:44 (sixteen years ago)

Is the first picture in the graveyard? Or just it Kyoto as well?

StanM, Sunday, 11 July 2010 21:45 (sixteen years ago)

I did manage to make out the word "calico" on that board, but there are 8 zillion bars/cafes/restaurants in the world called Calico, so that was a no-go.
