Yeah, I just spent a week in Baltimore last week and it was abominably hot. Esp. Thursday and Friday, I thought I would die. Every night I'd go back to my hotel, crank the A/C and just lie there in boxers on the bed for about 45 minutes.

Outdoor kids birthday party tomorrow in Sparrow's Point, basically. I only agreed to go after the parents promised there would be water balloons.

When I let the cold tap run in my bathroom sink, the water gets warmer, not colder.

I been drinking ice water constantly all day long, and the past few days whenever I break the ice out of the tray it starts to melt instantly before i can get it in the cup.

Ugly situation around here. Went up into the attic at 7 this morning to make sure the central air ductwork wasn't leaking cold air. It's okay until about 4 p.m., but then the front rooms of the (west-facing) house get it full blast, they get up close to 90 even with the AC working as hard as it can. The loss of our big shady oaks probably tacks on $50/month to our electric bill in the summer.

OK, listen. I lived in North Carolina where it barely went below 80 many summer nights (and I once saw morning fog when it was 85) and I lived in New Orleans where it was worse. But I live in Chicago, Illinois, near the lake even, and it's still 82 at 11:00 p.m. and it's been like this for weeks. This is just hateful.

i went to screening of sublime freqs doc on ethiopia and the director said you can only travel from north to south there at night because tires melt during the day

Was biking in to work today along the lakefront, there's a big time & temperature sign in front of Cleveland Public Power. It was 79F at 8:08am. :(

Going to Cleveland tomorrow; I'll pack accordingly.

kate, it's super, super humid. Biking in this morning was like riding through pea soup. And the heat index is about 4-5 degrees higher than the actual temperature.

it hasn't rained in massachusetts in about a month...my once beautiful lawn looks like straw.

Accuweather has a monthly forecast, which I love, because even though the predicted temperatures are mostly in the 90s, I can look ahead to the historical averages and see that Sept. 1 is historically when temps first drop into the 70s, and this gives me the will to live.

I don't believe that where I live the lows were in the 60s. And I'm very near the lake, so I am not sure what's up.
