it looks like this, if we were to play madden on our tv:

dag that's a nice tv
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 14:21 (seventeen years ago)
Sarah, you would be proud of me. I went on a cleaning binge yesterday and got rid of my horrible, embarrassing Pile of Teacher Junk in the corner of our office room.
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 14:22 (seventeen years ago)
i'm guessing no one wants our old tv? it's a good size (19-inch) and works great but it's old school so if anyone wants to use it past february they would need one of those digital signal converter box thingies. we also have a dvd player to give away if anyone needs it (we had to buy a new dvd player because our old one wouldn't work with our new tv apparently)
― metametadata (n/a), Monday, 10 November 2008 14:37 (seventeen years ago)
can i accept it as a donation for my school?
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 14:42 (seventeen years ago)
(i mean if no one else wants it)
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 14:43 (seventeen years ago)
sure! do you want the tv and the dvd player?
― metametadata (n/a), Monday, 10 November 2008 14:46 (seventeen years ago)
some bitch asked us a dumb question "because [we're] older"
haha, what was the question?
― Jordan, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:01 (seventeen years ago)
which version of "gloria" was the one by laura branigan
i mean, i can think of three different songs with the name "gloria" but i don't think she knew that because she is but a cub of...wait for it...25.
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:04 (seventeen years ago)
ps i also knew this information and could have answered her question when i was 25 but that's just because i am awesome
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:05 (seventeen years ago)
u2, Them, LBran, PattiSmith.
The one she's thinking of is the one by Laura Brannigan.
― Mark G, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:06 (seventeen years ago)
yeah i know that
see, you must be very very old because you know FOUR versions
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)
i have never even heard of the laura brannigan version, i just know the them version and the patti smith version
― metametadata (n/a), Monday, 10 November 2008 15:10 (seventeen years ago)
i like the U2 Gloria a lot, but it's pretty overwrought (which probably makes me like it more)are patti smith and them the same song? LB Gloria and U2 Gloria are not g-l-o-r-i-a glooooooooria -- they're completely different songs. one is quasireligious and the other is like mega 80s aerobics music.
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:14 (seventeen years ago)
Nick, that's a wonderful TV. At the Halloween party you said, Jesse why is your TV nicer than ours. Are you trying to one-up me?
― another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 10 November 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)
How big is it?
I really wish I had held off buying my current TV - it's HD, flat *screen*, but not flat panel, and it weighs a ton, plus it's only 32" - but I was without a TV and this was the most TV I could afford at the time.
― another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 10 November 2008 15:22 (seventeen years ago)
i've only really heard the Doors cover
― Jordan, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:24 (seventeen years ago)
The PattiSmith one is a 'medley' from her own Gloria (in exchelsis day-o, dayayay-o), about Patti Hearst, into the Them classic.
― Mark G, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:25 (seventeen years ago)
I guess we're not talking about "Gloria, I think they got your number/I think they got the alias/That you've been living undeeeerrrrr"?
― another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 10 November 2008 15:29 (seventeen years ago)
^^ that's one of them, the one she was asking about
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:32 (seventeen years ago)
Sleepaway Camp is something else.
― another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 10 November 2008 15:41 (seventeen years ago)
Leave 'em hangin' on the li-ine/Calling Glori-uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
― another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 10 November 2008 15:43 (seventeen years ago)
(Gloria)
ours is 32" also, which seems plenty big. it's huge. it's in our bedroom right now but it takes up the entire top of the dresser and the dvd player barely fits up there. i'd like to have it in our living room, so people could come over and watch movies or whatever but it would basically involve rearranging everything
i'm watching a show about baboons as i'm working
― metametadata (n/a), Monday, 10 November 2008 15:45 (seventeen years ago)
i probably know the u2 song also then, i just can't remember how it goes
Glorrrrria, kind of like that

Imagine Bono yodelling.
― Mark G, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:47 (seventeen years ago)
come on it's better than that!
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)
the video is pretty hilarious though
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)
you can almost smell bono's armpit as he sings his heart out in an industrial wasteland
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)
btw, yes, if no one else wants the tv and dvd player, i will gladly accept both as a donation to my school! maybe i can pick them up on wednesday, if i go to ddpp?
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:59 (seventeen years ago)
oh yeah, i know that song, pretty cool guitar part by "the edge" there
sounds good, amanda ... you're going to be driving, right? because the tv is pretty heavy.
― metametadata (n/a), Monday, 10 November 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)
I have been thinking about getting a small TV for my bedroom. Not that I want Nick's, I'm just saying that that's what I've been thinking.
― another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 10 November 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
You thinking about getting a small TV?
No, I know I'm gonna get a small TV; I'm thinking about poon-tang!
― another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 10 November 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)
lol
― Your original display name will be displayed in brackets. (dan m), Monday, 10 November 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)
I know the Laura Branigan and Patti Smith songs.
― jaymc, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, i'll drive if i come to pick up a tv.
i wonder how many hundreds of videos there are that could be described this way: "...sings his heart out in an industrial wasteland"
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:08 (seventeen years ago)
...and the ensuing discussion on ILM of whether or not the guy is really singing his heart out or not
What I want to know is, how did this girl know you were older? I mean, you don't look your age. Was Maggie singing obscure late '70s country songs again?
― jaymc, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)
she was, and i sang rainbow so i guess that didn't help, but i have no idea how she knew we were older or why she thought it was necessary to mention it out loud
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:10 (seventeen years ago)
because she's a bitch amirite
― Your original display name will be displayed in brackets. (dan m), Monday, 10 November 2008 16:11 (seventeen years ago)
i stated that earlier i think
― La Lechera, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:11 (seventeen years ago)
speaking of tv has anyone bothered to get a digital converter yet?
― Jordan, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:13 (seventeen years ago)
I don't think I have to since my TV is HD.... The local Fox affiliate is running 2 tests this Thursday (6:53 a.m. and 5:23 p.m.) to help viewers in determining if their TVs are ready. If you see regular programming with a crawler, you're fine; if you see only a message on the screen saying something, you're not fine. If plegm and other humours begin to ooze from you're TV, you have a poltergeist.
― another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 10 November 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)
oh the FF's radio performance from Saturday is streamable here: http://airplay.wnur.org/performances/. I think it turned out pretty well despite me breaking two strings and ben breaking his snare during our set.
― metametadata (n/a), Monday, 10 November 2008 16:24 (seventeen years ago)
Yay! I'm so glad you can take the tv and dvd player, Amanda! Also, good job cleaning up and throwing out crap. PAT ON BACK TO YOU.
My boss left for a loooong meeting this morning. :-D
― KitCat, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:27 (seventeen years ago)
wow ben must have been amped
― Jordan, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:28 (seventeen years ago)
ha ha, actually just the snares came off the bottom of the drum, but we couldn't find a screwdriver for him to reattach them, so he tried just duct-taping the snares back on, which didn't exactly work
― metametadata (n/a), Monday, 10 November 2008 16:31 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, that is the worst thing when it happens.
― Jordan, Monday, 10 November 2008 16:33 (seventeen years ago)
It's important to learn from incidents like this one, so in the future Ben will be taking a backup drum set with us in the car to all our shows.
