Walt is just amazing backed into a life or death corner. Any other time his decisions are 100% foolish.

Killing gus surely just means someone else still kills walt. Plus like...how would killing gus have stopped walt being killed? How would that have even worked in the way killing gale did? Come on..,

I see what this is (Local Garda), Saturday, 3 July 2010 11:43 (sixteen years ago)

killing gale has maybe bought walt time. gus could kidnap walt, kidnap walts family, find another chemist etc. gus wants to kill walt. thats the problem. it hasnt been solved by killing gale. gus is yet to be dealt with.

would someone come after walt if he killed gus? mike maybe, just because hes thorough. theres no evidence of any particular strong loyalty in his organization. the whole thing is very business like. removing gus could just create a power vacuum, distracting any would be revenge takers w/ambition. anyway there are lots of people who want to kill gus, best would be if no one figures out its walt right.

possibly having a hypothetical someone wanting to kill walt for killing gus is much better than definitely having gus wanting to kill walt. killing gale: half-measure.

sluts (ice cr?m), Saturday, 3 July 2010 12:02 (sixteen years ago)

yeah that's totally true but like, in the exact circumstances of walt being about to be shot, killing gus wouldn't have done him any good. like he was going to be killed that v instant.

it's not even if someone comes after walt, maybe he will kill gus next season, but in that last ep he was about to be killed, there and then, that very second, and had to buy himself time. it's not a half measure, it's the only thing he could have done in that instant to not be shot.

if he says "oh i'm going to kill gus" then mike just goes "right good for you" and shoots him.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Saturday, 3 July 2010 12:20 (sixteen years ago)

i was referring more to when they were planning gales murder in the lazertagorium - thinking abt it it was maybe an intentional joke abt walt and jesses shared psychosis that when walt was all 'you know what im talking abt' they were both thinking 'kill gale' when prob most viewers were thinking 'kill gus' - or at least i was - would be curious to know what everyone else thought they were talking abt at that moment

sluts (ice cr?m), Saturday, 3 July 2010 13:39 (sixteen years ago)

also lol

walt: you said no half measures

mike: mmyeah funny how words can be so open to interpretation

sluts (ice cr?m), Saturday, 3 July 2010 13:43 (sixteen years ago)

Nah, I never thought they meant Gus.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Saturday, 3 July 2010 13:44 (sixteen years ago)

did you think they meant gale

ice cr?m, Saturday, 3 July 2010 13:52 (sixteen years ago)

It dawned on me before they came out and said it, certainly.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Saturday, 3 July 2010 13:54 (sixteen years ago)

hmm interesting

ice cr?m, Saturday, 3 July 2010 14:06 (sixteen years ago)

I thought they meant Gus.

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Saturday, 3 July 2010 14:48 (sixteen years ago)

it nvr occurred to me that walt might try to kill gus hes kind of a bully

Lamp, Saturday, 3 July 2010 15:46 (sixteen years ago)

maybe walt tries to become gus eh

ice cr?m, Saturday, 3 July 2010 18:14 (sixteen years ago)

seems like a sorta likely future?

iatee, Saturday, 3 July 2010 18:18 (sixteen years ago)

I was thinking they'd kill Gus.

I enjoy the Gus character but Giancarlo Eaposito is kinda meh.

calstars, Sunday, 4 July 2010 03:28 (sixteen years ago)

has this thread discussed his spanish accent yet?

iatee, Sunday, 4 July 2010 03:36 (sixteen years ago)

weird...to me i was sure they were going to try and kill gale.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 4 July 2010 03:37 (sixteen years ago)

Never thought they were gonna go after Gus. Maybe because of the obvious foreshadowing of us getting to see Gale's home life, but I also thought of Walt mentioning the folly of trying to kill Tucco an episode or two earlier. Next season, though... who knows.

Nhex, Sunday, 4 July 2010 04:11 (sixteen years ago)

ya - i always thought Gale.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 4 July 2010 08:25 (sixteen years ago)

there's a slight diff between killing gus and gale - gus is surrounded by heavies and not even the cartel fucks w him. how in the world could walt and jesse even attempt it?? witness mike in metal gear solid mode. gale on the other hand is surrounded by plants and old 78s.

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 4 July 2010 08:51 (sixteen years ago)

i mean they are KILLER 78s, admittedly

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 4 July 2010 08:51 (sixteen years ago)

if we really truly do only have one more season (probable, it seems..) how is this shit going to END??

I've ventured guesses about where this show was headed, on this very thread even, & I've been comically wrong pretty much all of the time. Some sort of showdown and/or collaboration b/w Walt & Hank does seem inevitable, tho, right??

death kebab of DEATH (Pillbox), Sunday, 4 July 2010 09:07 (sixteen years ago)

I think they'll go after Gus in the long run, it doesn't seem like they have much of a choice, but unlike killing Gale I don't think it would have done much to save Walt's life there and then.

blow up his house w/magic crystals ala s1, stake out pollos i dunno, walt had access, gus didnt know he was onto him; granted the schedule was pretty tight

ice cr?m, Sunday, 4 July 2010 12:30 (sixteen years ago)

it doesn't really make any sense to me that he'd do that though...like...if he hadn't killed gale his life was worthless to gus or whoever followed up gus.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 4 July 2010 12:32 (sixteen years ago)

as mentioned the gus/walt relationship is now completely untenable, they basically have to kill gus, only difference from before is gus knows they know they have to kill him - i mean how long does it take to find a criminal chemist, thats how long walt has to act

ice cr?m, Sunday, 4 July 2010 12:46 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i defo agree for future survival, but gale had to go first, that was his priority. they can't miss a week's shipment gus said, so killing gale buys him at least a few days vs being shot in the head at the laundry there and then.;

I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 4 July 2010 12:47 (sixteen years ago)

but be fore he had the drop on gus now gus is likely to do something rash - can he really just let walt go abt his workaday routine, what if he goes to the cops, what if he goes buck - while walt did you know 'avoid death' he didnt really solve any problems particularly

ice cr?m, Sunday, 4 July 2010 12:50 (sixteen years ago)

I thought he meant Gus at first, too. Assumed some ricin-based "now you come break bread at my gaff" antics.

stet, Sunday, 4 July 2010 13:03 (sixteen years ago)

yeah but like...dying would be worse than not dying, he totally didn't solve any probs but he managed to not be shot in the head, what else could he feasibly have done?

I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 4 July 2010 13:09 (sixteen years ago)

killed gus

ice cr?m, Sunday, 4 July 2010 13:13 (sixteen years ago)

gone to the cops

ice cr?m, Sunday, 4 July 2010 13:13 (sixteen years ago)

ran

Seriously doubt Gus would've fallen for this.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Sunday, 4 July 2010 13:14 (sixteen years ago)

No, me either. He should have built a robot, rly

stet, Sunday, 4 July 2010 13:34 (sixteen years ago)

next time walt or jesse try to poison somebody, they should put it in rice. it's called "rice-in" and not "burrito-in" for a reason, yo.

Implied Nazarene (latebloomer), Sunday, 4 July 2010 20:46 (sixteen years ago)

OK just finished season 3. Wheeeee that was fun. Was not entirely convinced that Jessie shot Gale until I read upthread

I also like the things that Victor, Gus' lackey wears. Check his jacket in the "Jessie has to shake the dealers' hands" scene. Dope

Also OMG the baby is sooooooooo cute! Did you all talk about it upthread? Best TV baby ever imo

when she touched walter's beard and took off his classes? great

is breads of india still tite (admrl), Saturday, 17 July 2010 21:57 (fifteen years ago)

hi i finally watched this too

it's very good

and VERY sopranos

in regards to the "what they should do now" thing, i really feel they are setting walt up to be the next gus, which maybe means he has to kill him. think about it - 1) vince gilligan has said the arc of the show is "mr chips to scarface," implying that walt will sort of become a drug lord and not just a cook 2) gus is the most like walt than any other character from that milieu 3) all the foreshadowing of getting wifey in the business etc

al-goreda (s1ocki), Sunday, 18 July 2010 04:09 (fifteen years ago)

This really can't keep going any longer than two more season imo

i'm gonna need a +1 so me & a friend can kick you in the balls (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 18 July 2010 04:43 (fifteen years ago)

and VERY sopranos

I disagree. Sopranos is a lengthyt character study, BB is an extended crime thriller. Love both, but BB has so much more narrative momentum.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Sunday, 18 July 2010 22:48 (fifteen years ago)

BB's got plenty of character stuff tho

is breads of india still tite (admrl), Sunday, 18 July 2010 22:51 (fifteen years ago)

Of course, but it's driven by narrative whereas Sopranos is driven by character.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Sunday, 18 July 2010 22:52 (fifteen years ago)

also gossips!!!!
