Ideas for ILX

Actually, it hit me the other day when people were talking about "oh no, I've made 10,000 posts on ilx when I could have been writing a novel." I got to thinking about how many ilx posts are lengthy autobiographical episodes and how it would be great to compile my own such posts, just for personal use. I've put a lot of time into writing such posts and dredging up old memories and if ilx were to disappear for whatever reason, all that would be gone.

Scrolling through 5 posts at a time for any reason is a real pain in the ass though.

This doesn't seem to work for me anymore - I only get posts where other people have used my full name instead. Any chance this could be fixed (or otherwise explained to moron me)?

On the plus side, my attempt did flag up some wags making fun of me on another board during my early days here. Nice touch, guys.

I would like the accumulated texts of my posts to be presented in the shape of jean luc picard's facepalm pose. My guess is his would be about 3 minutes of coding.

i remember when i started posting, pretty much the first few years i was horribly picked on by one poster in particular, don something, i think. it was heartbreaking. he's not around anymore though.

too lazy to search upthread but one thing I'd love to see (which I'm certain we never will) is an "ignore thread" option

maybe I'll poke around the killfile script and see if I can modify that to support it

what would that do- enable you to not physically click on and read a thread?

It would be like killfilling a thread from New Answers. Potentially useful for reading ILX at work without certain threads popping up I'd say.

yeah i would use "ignore thread" for threads I really should not be reading or posting on but I keep reading and posting because I have no willpower

i think it would be more fun if people dramatically asked mods to ban them from threads, like when everyone tries to get unhooked from ilx

does anyone else have this problem where you can't play ilx youtube embeds in chrome? (windows xp, up to date build, no extensions). they work fine on blogs, other fora etc

they don't work on my iPhone, don't know if that's related at all? It's better that way, actually, cos they just appear as hyperlinks instead - if they showed up as embeds (which do work) it would probably kill my browser

Is it possible for a thread title change to be reflected in the bookmarks as well?

e.g. "US Politics: LOOK AT MY RIGHTEOUS [[redacted]]" still appears as "US Politics: LOOK AT MY RIGHTEOUS COCK" in my bookmarks

Can you not get round that by removing the bookmark and then re-bookmarking?

being able to select certain threads not showing up on SNA would be great, but i reckon that's prob been discussed and whatnot up above.

oh yeah, a sneaky bit of code to remotely turn on webcams would be good too

re:spoiler, could do some fancy css to highlight on mouseover (wouldn't work in ie tho (but highlight still would)). would be fairly easy to customise for different schemes or could just leave it black on black whatever.

Can you not get round that by removing the bookmark and then re-bookmarking?

I just removed the COCK and re-bookmarked the thread and there it is again, a huge COCK.

That thread's done now anyway but I'd still like to see this change as I use bookmarks all the time and end up not noticing amusing mod title edits.
