people who are selling your iphone 3GSs, how much are you getting?

mine is unlocked and not jailbroken, but has lots of fine scratches from not using a case. wondering if I should sell and upgrade.

Apple/AT&T are selling new 3GSs for$99 so it would have to be a lot less than that

Also found out today that when AT&T switches to 4G network (which has to be real soon - sprint have had 4g forever and verizon are rolling theirs out in july) the iPhone 4 won't be able to use it. It will default to 3G. So I think I'm going to wait for the next one.

AT&T will switch to 4G very slowly if previous rollouts are anything to go by, sprint's coverage is still very very limited, besides AT&T is going with LTE (like sprint) which doesn't offer much more than the current HSPA. Not saying you shouldn't wait but I wouldn't make 4G the reason.

App store reviewers are worse than yelpers, the bile and vitriol heaped on developers who haven't made their apps iOS and multitasking compliant yet is staggering.

That said the first developer to make a gtalk client that works properly with iOS 4 will get my dollar.

Until recently I worked in IT at V3rizon and they're definitely rolling out LTE and 4G in July. Actually 4G is already out there they just haven't 'switched it on yet'. Still testing. I think the 18th is the officially date. Anyway, since Vz and AT&T are each others main competitors I can't imagine AT&T being far behind.

good point about the 3gs now being $99 (but that's w/ 2 yr plan obv, mine is unlocked but I'm not sure what other data networks work with it in the US). maybe I'll just 'sell' it to my mom

If it's unlocked can you do a prepaid thing with it?? Maybe pp will buy it. He's looking for a prepay phone but they all suck ass

probably but I dunno if they do prepaid data plans. I would feel weird selling it to another ILXor though, what if it breaks, etc. etc.

AT&T and T-Mobile are your options in the US for unlocked iPhone, Cricket and boost I think are MVNOs and probably your best options for prepay data.

I don't doubt AT&T and Verizon are on the verge of rolling out LTE, I'm not so sure that Apple will put it into the iPhone any time soon. Remember that the original iPhone was EDGE only and 3G coverage was pretty extensive. I'd bet on 2012 before we see an LTE capable iPhone.

For those still wondering about installing iOS 4 on iPhone 3G -- download and save the iOS software, back your phone up, and then do a restore. Do not "install." When restore is complete, you can restore all of your contacts, voicemails, etc. Then, and this is important, REBOOT YOUR PHONE. If you don't reboot, everything is slow as molasses. Once you reboot, it gets pretty damn zippy!

Guy at the Concrete Blonde show last night had one, so I had to wander over to gawk at it. Said he had pre-ordered it thru the website, and AT&T mailed it to him on tuesday, whereas his friends camped out at the Portland shops from like 7am until 2pm or so.

upon some thought, left feeling kind of cold by iphone 4. speed is not *that* much faster than the 3GS, new screen is obv. great but I don't really need a better camera or two cameras for that matter. design is pretty but I dunno if I could justify forking out $600 on it instead of say, an iPad.

me either, but for what it's worth; after i read those instructions i rebooted my phone, and it did take care of most of the lag i was experiencing.

Is there any way to script things on the iPhone; eg. turn on WIFI by location or time, launch certain apps at certain times?

really, really wish there was. even just to handle notifications (ie shut the hell up between midnight and 9am pls)
