Mean Girls is a great movie, an instant high school comedy classic, like Election.

dally, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

Election is a bit too dark and adult for high school comedy classic status, especially since the primary POV is that of a teacher!

Spencer Chow, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:14 (eighteen years ago)

Mean Girls fucking rules. I watched Saved again last night on the Tv and it's competition even though nowhere as good. Like second in line.

Abbott, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

mean girls made me SO HAPPY when i was in a really grumpy mood the other day. for that, it absolutely rules.

saved was ehhh

Surmounter, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:32 (eighteen years ago)

Mean Girls is amazing - I blame Tina Fey. God I love her.

Mark G - Although it's really great, I actually don't know if I'd recommend it for a nine year old. There are quite a few sexual references and some cursing. It's pretty tame but there's some stuff in there that I don't think is really appropriate for a nine year old.

ENBB, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 20:13 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think a 9 year old would get any of the jokes!

elmo argonaut, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, and that. Then again, I have no idea what nine year olds are like these days!

ENBB, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

They're all having sex and buying loft conversions and reading the London Review of Books.

Mark C, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 20:19 (eighteen years ago)

The moral is that girls who everyone thinks are lesbians are fucking rad, and that is the most important message in life.

Abbott, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

I think if I was nine and I saw Mean Girls I might develop an irrational fear of school buses.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 01:48 (eighteen years ago)

cause that shit is like WHAM!!!!

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 01:48 (eighteen years ago)

Just like Martha Dumptruck!

kingfish, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 01:51 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, Mark - it's a middle-school movie, not a primary-school one.

energy flash gordon, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 04:00 (eighteen years ago)

OK cheers.

(Seeing as no-one warned me about the enormous vibrator scene in "Top Secret", I appreciate it. )

El Tomboto, Saturday, 15 December 2007 09:29 (eighteen years ago)

rather I should say I have finally reached the point where I would get filthy with it. that says a lot more about me than it does about her. bedtime, I think.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 15 December 2007 09:30 (eighteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

okay who else has seen I Know Who Killed Me

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:37 (eighteen years ago)

totally want to see it

omar little, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

its not quite as entertaining as the Butterfly Effect (altho there is a bit of unsettling torture-porn)

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

Nothing says "entertaining" quite like unsettling torture-porn.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

I meant that it had that in common with the Butterfly Effect, not that that's what made it entertaining.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 22:30 (eighteen years ago)

what made it entertaining was hamfisted direction and a ludicrous plot.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 22:30 (eighteen years ago)

it was pretty stupid overall and could have been so much hammier and more ludicrous in a better way.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 22:36 (eighteen years ago)

definitely - it was surprisingly free of actors/dialogue, so many slow "meaniingful" wordless dream sequences and jump cuts and dood BLUE FLOWERS DO U SEE etc

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 22:37 (eighteen years ago)

hahahaha yes the last part esp.

Well, we didn't see 'Mean Girls', but "LifeSize", her second movie proper, was on on Sunday Morning. She'd be around thirteen there, and as I say, she does bear an uncanny resemblance to our Amber. The movie wasn't half bad, Tyra Banks plays a barbie doll brought back to life, the rest you can guess.

Mark G, Monday, 28 January 2008 11:11 (eighteen years ago)

OK, I know what's going to happen now. Someone will post on the "1 in ten women " thread for the ThrConn funnies.
