I'm not trying to antagonize you, John, i just end up erring on the "why?" side as opposed to the "why not?" side when it comes to friending creepy, lame, or boring people from high school/my home town.

sarahel, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:12 (sixteen years ago)

oh nah im not antagonized, i just really am detached from taking facebook even remotely seriously or paying any attention to it (ughhh is that the new "i dont even have a TV probably arrggh) so the thought never crossed my mind

ULTRAMAN dat ho (jjjusten), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:14 (sixteen years ago)

note: as a result of this lack of attentiveness i have now been sentenced to being greeted with eternal farmville updates every time i bother to log in, so your fate is the one you make i suppose

ULTRAMAN dat ho (jjjusten), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:17 (sixteen years ago)

press "hide" next to the first Farmville update you see, then press "Hide Farmville" or whatever, and you're free

ksh, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:19 (sixteen years ago)

At this point I'm hiding a lot of infantile games played mostly by a) younger relatives, so fair dos and b) 'blond' people my own age who never left the midwest. My BiL is on a Mafia Wars binge so I learned the Block thing pretty much on day one.

WHEN CROWS GO BAD (suzy), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:32 (sixteen years ago)

appreciate the tips but i am digging my own "ignore this thing" approach, it has done well for me so far in life

ULTRAMAN dat ho (jjjusten), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 23:08 (sixteen years ago)

whatever works yo

ksh, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 23:17 (sixteen years ago)

I've hidden every single app/quiz/whatever ever since day one. The minute a new one appears, WHAP. Gone. Add adblock to that, and I dont even see all the crazy side-ads.

Hahah Whaaat, FB have just introduced the "like" function to comments on status updates!

My page has gone crazy with ppl clicking like on everything in sight.

property-disrespecting Moroccan handjob (Trayce), Thursday, 17 June 2010 03:36 (sixteen years ago)

I already saw someone do the "soon you'll be able to 'like' the fact that someone 'liked' your post!!" joke, which means it is well on course to be the "at this rate they'll be building a Starbucks inside a Starbucks!!" for this decade

heywood jabulani (DJ Mencap), Thursday, 17 June 2010 07:48 (sixteen years ago)

Hahah Whaaat, FB have just introduced the "like" function to comments on status updates!

Didn't that happen ages ago?

Vulvuzela (Matt DC), Thursday, 17 June 2010 09:48 (sixteen years ago)

Actually I could refresh the suggestions all day for maximum LOLs (just looked again and it's A-Gays a-go-go: Peter Tatchell, Jonathan Harvey).

WHEN CROWS GO BAD (suzy), Thursday, 17 June 2010 09:52 (sixteen years ago)

iouis j@gger has liked your comment on his comment which you liked

Remember when Mr Banhart was a replicant? (darraghmac), Thursday, 17 June 2010 10:14 (sixteen years ago)

Matt: no no its a like function on the *comments* on someones post. So now every single comment can also be "liked" as the main wall post can.

Its a bit mental.

C.R.E.P.E (Trayce), Thursday, 17 June 2010 10:16 (sixteen years ago)

this is as annoying as when myspace introduced the option of giving one or two "kudos"

sarahel, Thursday, 17 June 2010 10:20 (sixteen years ago)

press "hide" next to the first Farmville update you see, then press "Hide Farmville" or whatever, and you're free

Guy I'm friends with has a photo album of screen grabs from his Farmville which he updates almost daily.

Going to hunt you down...

krakow, Sunday, 4 July 2010 19:53 (sixteen years ago)

hehe, you'll never catch me!

well actually you possibly could but it would have to involve both deduction and guesswork!

Humbert Humberto Suazo (jim in glasgow), Sunday, 4 July 2010 19:55 (sixteen years ago)

The challenge is most definitely on.

krakow, Sunday, 4 July 2010 20:14 (sixteen years ago)

In other Facebook-related news, Trent Reznor has written the score for Fincher's Facebook movie.

Facebook: the movie

j/k lol simmons (history mayne), Monday, 5 July 2010 11:43 (sixteen years ago)

Wtf, who cares about a movie of how Facebook got started? Was it like an extra eventful process, or are they gonna add some fictional drama into it in the name of entertainment?

Tuomas, Monday, 5 July 2010 12:33 (sixteen years ago)

here's a guess: 1) it won't be a documentary reconstruction 2) it will shoot for more than just relating the history of how facebook started 3) it will use said story to bring out certain choice themes (idk, about friendship probably) 4) it'll be mad funny

j/k lol simmons (history mayne), Monday, 5 July 2010 12:44 (sixteen years ago)

5) characters will be made to seem more interesting than what they are irl, aka nerds
6) a story abt nerds may be actually more interesting irl

ice cr?m, Monday, 5 July 2010 14:15 (sixteen years ago)

based on those involved itll prob be pretty sweet; should prob include a montage of young zuckerberg murdering hookers in his dorm room between marathon coding seshes for max impactfulness imo

Anytime I accept a friend request from someone from elementary school, it's a terrifying mirror into what it'd be like if if I stayed Mormon, in Idaho. And also a reminder that most of the people in my hometown were really dumb, racist hicks.

could be a bad day for (Abbott), Friday, 16 July 2010 00:33 (fifteen years ago)

Hmm, that's two friend requests from school people today- one of which I added before, then deleted about 18 months ago in a mass cull of school people I plain don't care about in hindsight, and one who messaged me a while ago that I didn't reply to. I guess it's 15yrs since we finished school, hope this isn't a prelude to a meet-up or something.

useless chamber, Friday, 16 July 2010 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

my ex's sister just friend-requested me. i've had not contact with her in the 4yrs since i split with her brother, i changed my name when i got married and we have no friends in common. so how did she find me??? i don't even use an email address for facebook that she would know.

i've noticed that a lot of married ppl have their maiden names show up in gray next to their married names, but that doesn't show up on my profile.

this is freaking me out.
