Boston -- Classic or Dirty Water?

I feel like all the really good seafood places are outside of the city. Anyone have any suggestions of one closer that they've actually tried?

On the cheaper end, we hit a place in chinatown for seafood dimsum and it was insanely great and very affordable.

But they don't do food - what food places are in that area? is it near the barking crab? That's seafood and kind of fun! Maybe you guys don't like seafood anyway.

lol I was about to suggest Barking Crab

yeah it's pretty near the barking crab which is overpriced but fun and kind of cool for being a lobster shack in the middle of the city

huh seems the prices have bumped up a little, probably now that they have to wash their food in non-harbor water things cost more

Honestly, I'd go in and go for the lol hueg seafood platter to share and then go to town on that mofo, stick to raw bar daily specials board and apps and avoid the entrees.

dim sum place was Chau Chow City, 83 Essex in C-Town.

Drink friend looks not unlike Elijah Wood in LOTR and is shares the same name as Joan Chen's character in Twin Peaks (i'm being totally serious, is2g).

Also does anyone care if dinner is slightly on the later side? Turns out my wife is going to be at a board meeting (ooh fancy) that starts at 6 that night, so I'd like to make an 8/8:30 reservation so she can join (and so we can get really wrecked at Drink beforehand)

I'll be there! couldn't care less where we go, tbh, I would just ask that, if possible, y'all pick a place that is super T accessible as I'll be taking the orange line and then whatever connecting lines I need to take, but after I get off at whatever stop I'll have to get off at I'll be on foot

Last go-round of suggestions centered around South Station (Drink, then Barking Crab/Chow Chau City). I think this is a marvelous idea, if only because I want to go to Drink.

hey--late dinner is fine by me. my gf may join so for reservation purposes i will confirm that today. i will be working in the building next to south station and will be around for meeting/drinking after 5 or so. drink also has tasty bar snacks btw so any hunger should be easily spelled.

x-post - CAD I'll meet you after work. Just sent Dan a msg on FB about this but I was thinking and Drink is pretty expensive. IIRC it's about 13-15 a drink. If we go there and then to either BC or CCC this could end up being a pretty expensive night. Seeing as I'm unemployed right now that might not be ideal for me or others. I'll still be there regardless but wanted to see what others thought about that. Am also fine with late res and with either BC or CCC.

hey--yeah i am definitely sympathetic to that! ime, drink runs about 7-12 depending on the complexity of what you're getting. obv is tricky because they don't price up front. they also have beer and wine that is a bit more reasonable. i would also be up for just staying there for 1 or 2 and then going someplace a bit more reasonable.

I think we should do 1 drink at Drink just for the "experience" (we are showing off for Ned, after all), then trek over to The Good Life. Maybe hit Drink at like 5:45, Good Life at 6:15, Chau Chow at 8?

one thing to note about CCC: dimsum is a mid-morning to mid-afternoon snack, probably will not be available in the evening and if it is, IME the freshness/quality will probably = ymmv.

HOWEVER, there is one dish i ordered off the dinner menu which was pork spare ribs. i think it's "pai kwat" (?).
