So did I! Really it was a very convincing bit of acting on Cranston's part - totally effective, since you as the audience, as well as Mike and Victor, could buy this craven begging and betrayal coming from Walt, so when he turns the tables on them it's even more shocking and satisifying.
― Nhex, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 12:59 (sixteen years ago)
xps - yea i figured gus used to get his meth from the cartel, and recruiting walt was part of the reason he's been able to strike out on his own. maybe someone like gale would be able to set up the lab, even if he didn't quite have the skills to perfect the cook procedure. probly aren't too many trained chemists around in the drug world (though who knows how sophisticated you'd really have to be to make good meth).

The show from the Lazer Tag on was maybe the best twenty minutes of TV ever.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 22:27 (sixteen years ago)
does lazer tag really still exist lol such a weird thing for them to reference

what really killed me was when walt told jesse he was in trouble, jesse just immediately grabbed his gun and ran - no second thoughts

I know, right? This is kind of turning into a love story between Jesse and Walt.
― sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 12:35 (sixteen years ago)
i was laughing out loud all by myself watching this scene! as was i holding my head in my hands during that final scene. devastating and incredible.
― hoes on my dick cos my groceries bagged (tpp), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:23 (sixteen years ago)
gah how am i supposed to sleep after watching this
― hoes on my dick cos my groceries bagged (tpp), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:29 (sixteen years ago)
I can't believe that gale just answers his door like that. No peep hole look, open wide open. Most of the time when ppl knock on my door, I just hide an pretend I'm not home. Even if I know ppl are coming over.
― Jeff, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:51 (sixteen years ago)
Ha. I was reading that thinking, "That sounds like something Jeff would say..." and lo.
― sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 22:55 (sixteen years ago)
I answer my door like Gale. Haven't been shot in the face yet.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 23:00 (sixteen years ago)
ok i slept on it and i think gale singing 'crapa pelada' might be my fav tv scene of all time

i just finished a couple days ago & i think probably
― Hans-Jörg Butt (harbl), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:26 (sixteen years ago)
Almost certainly the most exciting.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:27 (sixteen years ago)
In terms of tension it's rivaled only be early 24, but it also has character depth and believable plots.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:29 (sixteen years ago)
it's interesting you mention 24, it's true there's a similarity. both shows specialize in painting their characters into corners from which escape seems impossible. but 24 always had the out of jack 1) just going into full ass-kick mode or 2) calling back to CTU and having them disable something via cellphone or whatever. breaking bad gets its characters out of trouble in very lo-fi ways that feel a lot cleverer. like the way jack - in jack and the beanstalk - manages to wriggle free of trouble with giants
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:30 (sixteen years ago)
I want this show to go on forever, but I hope they don't start filling up time with flashbacks, like they did at the beginning of the last episode. Due to lost I have no patience for that shit anymore. Just stick with the present, please.
― calstars, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 19:59 (sixteen years ago)
it was originally supposed to be only 4 seasons, right? i'd be happy with the next one being the last, but since they're making it up as they go along I hope they can sort out a good ending.

I really loved the flashback in season 1 with Walt seducing his student (who later marries his partner). Gave us a ton of context for their relationship in about 3 minutes.
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 23:22 (sixteen years ago)
Sparingly-used flashbacks can be cool. I didn't watch Lost though.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 23:25 (sixteen years ago)
c'mon the combo flashback was amazing

the flashback from just before they bought the rv (at the strip club) is great imo

well i also liked the flashback of jane and jesse in the car talking about the door paintings and vaginas, v sweet

jesse was so happy :/

It underlined that Jane would've got bored with him pretty quickly, she was so obviously his intellectual superior.

Watching deadwood last night, didn't know that skyler was in it. That just seems wrong, I don't want to see her anywhere except in breaking bad.
― Jeff, Thursday, 1 July 2010 13:20 (sixteen years ago)
felt exactly the opposite when i started watching breaking bad tbh
― Gee, Officer (Gukbe), Thursday, 1 July 2010 13:36 (sixteen years ago)
just finished s3 last night - last 2 eps were pretty great after the grinding midseason crawl
wondering why not just kill gus instead of gale - gus is harder to kill but the moral gain makes the decision a no brainer imo - and killing gale just buys them time at best - also didnt quite buy walts criminal acumen going from 'shit' to 'pretty good' overnight
opening flashback was implying having a disabled child is what smothered walts zest eh
enjoying walt and jesses deepening bond - its sort of touching for all its disfunction - lol @ walk lecturing jesse abt not thinking of others - irony
― ice cr?m, Saturday, 3 July 2010 00:02 (sixteen years ago)
yup, the walt/jesse relationship is one of the most unique things about this show. Kind of like the Tony/Christopher relationship in the Sopranos
― calstars, Saturday, 3 July 2010 00:13 (sixteen years ago)
okay I finally watched all 3 seasons and can click on this thread too
killing gus seems like suicide to me, but there did seem to be some alternatives to straight-up killing gale...maybe just capturing him? or blackmailing gus w/ some way of ensuring that the police would get info about the whole operation in the case of walt's death. OTOH I don't think immediately thinking 'kill gale' is entirely out of character for walt at this point in time.
― iatee, Saturday, 3 July 2010 00:39 (sixteen years ago)
well the key to killing gus is making it seem like the cartel did it, tho gus is prob v hard to kill, still they are going to have to kill gus
― ice cr?m, Saturday, 3 July 2010 01:02 (sixteen years ago)
also didnt quite buy walts criminal acumen going from 'shit' to 'pretty good' overnight
Walt is just amazing backed into a life or death corner. Any other time his decisions are 100% foolish.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Saturday, 3 July 2010 01:02 (sixteen years ago)
just finished this. Final scene unbelievably good. Seasons got better and better, too: 3 > 2 >>>> 1 (which was hit by the writer's strike, right?)
One thing that still bugs me is how Walt can be a cold Machiavellian genius, but also unable to keep it together for the simplest lies like sweet-talking a cop or addressing a room of students.
xxp lol @ finishing minutes after iatee.
― stet, Saturday, 3 July 2010 01:05 (sixteen years ago)
walt seems to have two personalities 'walt' and 'heisenberg' - problem is walt often thinks hes heisenberg
