It was pretty much completely lacking in the funny, though. But their election episodes usually are.

Casuistry, Friday, 7 November 2008 14:04 (seventeen years ago)

I thought it was funny.

chap, Friday, 7 November 2008 14:14 (seventeen years ago)

I liked all the Oceans 1x stuff.

schwantz, Friday, 7 November 2008 16:51 (seventeen years ago)

I liked it. I liked that it seemed how they wanted to do a relatively straight bank heist story, intercut it with drunken idiocy to keep the lolz rolling, then tie both plotlines in together.

"though not so much his more vociferous supporters"

Nor McCain's to be fair.

Alex in SF, Friday, 7 November 2008 17:04 (seventeen years ago)

that two-parter pan flute Cloverfield think was so wtf - I fell asleep waiting for the punchline (was there one?)

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 7 November 2008 17:18 (seventeen years ago)

No!

I thought it was pretty flipping AWESOME but then again: guinea pigs.

rubisco (Abbott), Friday, 7 November 2008 17:21 (seventeen years ago)

I've never really been sure what a libertarian is. I'm not that bothered to find out.

My favourite South Park episode is the Lord of the Rings one, where they are returning the porno.

Autobot Lover (jel --), Friday, 7 November 2008 17:52 (seventeen years ago)

The Guineasaurus Rex was kind of a punchline.

chap, Friday, 7 November 2008 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

yeah but it went on and on.

did not really dig the guinea pigs sorry.

the election episode was brilliant.
Was worried the Ike crying thing was going to be lolbertarian angle, but it wasnt thankfully.

kingfish, Thursday, 2 April 2009 05:08 (seventeen years ago)

^^^^ I laughed my ass off last week when he freaked out. i love butters!!!! this show is still hilarious and genius imo

crab ringgoon (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Tuesday, 7 April 2009 20:55 (seventeen years ago)

Butters is easily my favorite character on the show.

maybe u should tell that to your laughing vagina (HI DERE), Tuesday, 7 April 2009 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

perhaps I should stop posting to this thread since all I seem to have to say about SP anymore is how great Butters is

Does anyone else find this show kind of soulless and cruel? Maybe it was just the episode I watched, but there was like a 10-minute sequence where kenny threw a ninja star into a kid's eye and then to avoid getting caught they decide to disguise him as a dog to take him to the veteranarian, then they wind up stuffing him in an oven, etc. I mean I know it's all exaggerated and absurd, but I found something sadistic in the way the show just lingered on all of this so much, not to mention that it just wasn't funny. Maybe it's just that getting older thing.

Garri$on Kilo (Hurting 2), Thursday, 14 May 2009 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

"a kid"?? butters isn't just "a kid"

SQUIRREL WITH A PEOPLE FACE (╓abies), Thursday, 14 May 2009 06:15 (seventeen years ago)

i'm torn. the libertarian stuff does not appeal to me, but the show is still capable of being really fucking funny.

MRSA Marchant (get bent), Thursday, 14 May 2009 06:22 (seventeen years ago)

the part tonight about trying to return the "margaritaville" to sur la table was funny, but they had to beat the joke/metaphor into the ground.

MRSA Marchant (get bent), Thursday, 14 May 2009 06:27 (seventeen years ago)

Does anyone else find this show kind of soulless and cruel?

Cruel? Sure. Misguided? Sometimes. Soulless? Never.

my features are so intense (kenan), Thursday, 14 May 2009 06:40 (seventeen years ago)

on the one hand, corporations are corrupt, immoral and exploitative

on the other, people who drive priuses seem really smug

THE TRUTH, IT LIES SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE

macaulay culkin's bukkake shocker (bug), Thursday, 14 May 2009 07:59 (seventeen years ago)

prius drivers / politicized hollywood celebrities might be hella smug about their political beliefs, but they're uh...about exactly as smug as the guys making the show.

iatee, Thursday, 14 May 2009 08:13 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe it was just the episode I watched, but there was like a 10-minute sequence where kenny threw a ninja star into a kid's eye and then to avoid getting caught they decide to disguise him as a dog to take him to the veteranarian, then they wind up stuffing him in an oven, etc.

kind of agree with this, it was a weirdly wrong-feeling part in an otherwise good episode.

GÖTT DAT SCHING (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 14 May 2009 09:41 (seventeen years ago)

south park episodes vary in quality, to be sure, but as long as they occasionally pop up with a gem like the Britney episode, and other times divert us with the peruvian pan flute 2-parter, I'll watch it.

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 14 May 2009 09:52 (seventeen years ago)

I think anyone who writes an episode of their show where they poo out of their mouths knows that they are smug bastards who only talk shit.

Call out (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 14 May 2009 11:12 (seventeen years ago)

SP called itself out as being "preachy" in the cartoon wars episode, but I think stopped short of admitting that they might actually be wrong about stuff

EMPIRE STATE HYMEN (MPx4A), Thursday, 14 May 2009 11:15 (seventeen years ago)

the "oh ho this is actually topical!" reveal in the Butters/weapons episode was fairly right-on though

EMPIRE STATE HYMEN (MPx4A), Thursday, 14 May 2009 11:17 (seventeen years ago)

five months pass...

It was an easy joke, but I still laughed everytime Butters starting tossing around 'motherfucker'

kingfish, Thursday, 15 October 2009 07:12 (sixteen years ago)

i don't even need to see that to find it hilarious

'you know what i am saying' also cheap but hilar

wilter, Thursday, 15 October 2009 08:36 (sixteen years ago)

Why do C4 broadcast unfunny Simpsons eps over this?

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 15 October 2009 09:25 (sixteen years ago)

South Park probably not a winner with Ofcom at 6 in the evening.

Music should never have changed anymore after my mid 80s (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 15 October 2009 09:26 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah they used to broadcast it at night, but its a strange decision not to broadcast this at all. Really dislike any of the other cartoons on offer (Family Guy or what have you)

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 15 October 2009 09:28 (sixteen years ago)

Family Guy is much more consistently fun, or less intermittently annoying, than South Park.

Really the answer to any query about Channel 4 scheduling is "because Channel 4 is fucking terrible".

Music should never have changed anymore after my mid 80s (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 15 October 2009 09:31 (sixteen years ago)

cheap but hilarious is otm. applies to practically every thing Butters says

not really.. clever... but a lot more fun than last week's obviously-trying-too-hard "i see dead celebrities" crap

Nhex, Thursday, 15 October 2009 09:56 (sixteen years ago)

Butters is seriously amazing and I don't think South Park would have survived for as along as it has without him.

RETARTED (HI DERE), Thursday, 15 October 2009 13:56 (sixteen years ago)

"Family Guy is much more consistently fun, or less intermittently annoying, than South Park"

This is crazy talk...South Park rarely misses the mark. Maybe its a British/American difference of humour/humor...but I think South Park has, if anything, become better over the years. Last seasons election/Ocean's 11 parody? The High School Musical parody? Twilight? All genius. They push the vulgarity limit, but always with tongue firmly in cheek. Family Guy, while "fun", will always be a sub-par South Park/Simpsons rip-off, that tries to push the limit to annoying ends...

Space Is The Place, Thursday, 15 October 2009 14:17 (sixteen years ago)

Nothing to do with US/UK differences, I think a lot of people agree that 90 percent of the satirical or parody eps of South Park are like being shouted at by a couple of Ron Paulites for 20 minutes except less lol

Music should never have changed anymore after my mid 80s (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 15 October 2009 14:21 (sixteen years ago)

Not that critical reviews are necessarily a good signifier, but I have never seen a review of South Park that called it less than brilliant.

Space Is The Place, Thursday, 15 October 2009 14:27 (sixteen years ago)

Results 1 - 10 of about 20,400 for "south park is shit". (0.18 seconds)
