― max, Saturday, 12 June 2010 22:53 (sixteen years ago)

― plax (ico), Saturday, 12 June 2010 22:54 (sixteen years ago)

― max, Saturday, 12 June 2010 22:56 (sixteen years ago)

― max, Saturday, 12 June 2010 22:57 (sixteen years ago)
anyone remember that dennys rashers ad with the irish guy and his american wife getting a phone call rom the old sod
― Michael B, Saturday, 12 June 2010 23:58 (sixteen years ago)
how did you enjoy "the trip to ireland" max?
michael do you mean the denny ad where "it's breakfast time back home"?
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 13 June 2010 09:06 (fifteen years ago)
I deeply enjoyed myself "local policeman" (via Gaelic). I went, with my grandmother, to the town from where my great great great grandfather emigrated. I also read the first hundred or so pages of Murphy. All in all, I would describe it as a "crack."
― max, Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:31 (fifteen years ago)
i have never read any joyce
kindof ashamed
― plax (ico), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)
Really though, I had a great time--everyone I met was friendly and helpful and the food, despite what I expected, was great. Good job on your country.
― max, Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:38 (fifteen years ago)
bought ulysses a few months back but can't get into it, despite liking musil/broch and stuff that gets compared to him a lot. max it's "craic" tho you probably knew that. "crack" is a drug which is frowned upon in Irish culture.
where in Roscommon was it? my friend's parents have a house in Boyle that I've been to a lot.
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:40 (fifteen years ago)
i have only been to roscommon to go to hyde park
― plax (ico), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:41 (fifteen years ago)
is one of those places i don't think i've ever met anyone from (aside from while being there)
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:42 (fifteen years ago)
nah they all flee to galway
― plax (ico), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:46 (fifteen years ago)
I was near Boyle in a tiny town called Castlecoote. Very pretty but probably insanely boring to live in.
Joyce is great. But I read Ulysses in college with one of "those" professors and feel like I totally "got" it & by extension "the soul of all Ireland."
― max, Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:52 (fifteen years ago)
Really though the reason I "get" Ireland is cause I've seen that Harp ad.
― max, Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:53 (fifteen years ago)
you are more irish than the irish themselves
x-post otm, did you see sally o'brien at all while "home"
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:54 (fifteen years ago)
sally o'brien was irl a brit sori to destroy ur illusions
― plax (ico), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:56 (fifteen years ago)

― plax (ico), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:57 (fifteen years ago)

― I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 13 June 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

sher
― plax (ico), Sunday, 13 June 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)
I didn't see Sally O'Brien, I was too busy frying eggs, thousands of them, for in Ireland, unlike the Iberian peninsula, eggs are plentiful.
Disgusted to find out she's a Brit. What would my great great great grandfather, John Kerry Regan of Ballyghadoreen, County Roscommon, say?
― max, Sunday, 13 June 2010 18:02 (fifteen years ago)
ah sher this is it, i'll be dead now in a minute. mad altogether.
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 13 June 2010 18:02 (fifteen years ago)

― plax (ico), Sunday, 13 June 2010 18:03 (fifteen years ago)

Fierce.
― seandalai, Sunday, 13 June 2010 20:42 (fifteen years ago)
My strongest memories of distinctively Irish ads involve the president of the IFA or someone monotoning about brucellosis and vaccinating your cows or somewhat. YouTube knows nothing.
― seandalai, Monday, 14 June 2010 02:25 (fifteen years ago)
cailini deas in shawls getting all moony eyed over a fucking cup a soup.
is this what john o'leary wanted for us?

i was thinking about it, and as far as i can tell, pound for pound, ireland has produced better ilx posters than any other nation
― max, Monday, 14 June 2010 02:33 (fifteen years ago)
i dunno if they have a statistically significant number of ilx posters though
― harbl, Monday, 14 June 2010 03:06 (fifteen years ago)

I just love how the mother in the Kerrygold ad clearly hates the German wagon who stole her son away. In her own head she is a wronged woman who gave him everything, everything, only for him to become bewitched by some flaxen-haired temptress from another country and leave his only home. In his head she is a nagging old biddy who is never happy about anything and he couldn't wait to get away from her. It's the oldest story we have.
― trishyb, Sunday, 17 October 2010 23:30 (fifteen years ago)
sally o'brien gutted too
― cant believe you sb'd me for that (darraghmac), Sunday, 17 October 2010 23:35 (fifteen years ago)

Cannot believe that's not on youtube. Travesty.
― Number None, Sunday, 27 March 2011 09:22 (fifteen years ago)
its kindof like never gonna happen now i think. like we've reached the end point of people still watching movies taped off the telly years ago so you're not gonna start lolling over a "this madness must end sooun" and wanna upload it y'know?
