Pete isn't unfunny (he's had some great stuff), but he's basically required to be the straight man almost 100% of the time. It's a bummer, though, because Scott Adsit is capable of great stuff (Mr. Show, woot!).

Love Pete. Want more Twofer too. Less Kenneth would be fine.

While we're on the subject, Frank does not deserve to be in the opening credits.

I actually liked Kenneth in this episode but: Having just watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall (meh, mostly), I'm wondering if that actor can do anything even slightly different then the babe-in-the-woods schtick.

No, my least favorite episodes are the ones that include a plot line involving Pete.

When was he on Mr. Show? I've watched every episode many times but don't remember him.

I hope this show remains under threat of cancellation, as it will give the writers cart blanche to go crazy, believing the show is doomed.

One of the last episodes of the X-Files had a psychic who recreated the Brady Bunch set and characters that killed people with his crazy psychic powers. That's how crazy-awesome 30 rock should be ALL THE TIME.

When people say "bad episode", do they mean "bad episode of 30 Rock" or "bad episode in general"? Even if this was a weaker episode, a weak 30 Rock episode is still funnier than most things on TV.

"I don't believe in hypotheticals Mr. Donagy...it's like lying to your brain." is a line we should all cherish.

I think both eps so far this year are roundly and soundly good.

Also, Jennifer Anniston looks like she'll be pretty good at her cameo as a psycho next week.

Considering how much I hated her on Ally McBeal, I find Jane K. completely amazing on this show. She is a national treasure.

I liked her on Ally McBeal...because I never watched the show. Before 30 Rock, I only knew her via the talk show circuit.

We all make mistakes, and watching a few episodes of that show was one of mine.

But I mean Robert Downey Jr. was on it for awhile! Hard for me to resist that dude. And the guy from Ghostbusters II!

She was OK as the white trash cousin in Nat'l Lampoon's Vacation but every role since is one that Rachel Dratch is more suited for.

I like Dratch and I wish they could find some roles for her on the show, but Jane K. is perfect at what she does on the show.

btw i thought the 2nd episode was funnier and, uh, closer to the real soul of 30 rock than the 1st, hopefully signalling that the show's gonna slide back into its groove after some early season ratings pandering

I thought the second episode was corporate-soulless compared to the first ep/that awesome run of episodes last season. Lot of lols, but of the empty, spasmodic kind.

I wouldn't blame Jane K. for her annoying character on Ally McBeal, that was all on DEK. Anyway, Dratch couldn't possibly evoke JK's SEX-uality.

Yeah, I agree with this. I keep waiting for 30 Rock to start pandering to a larger audience and lose the qualities that make it so great. Hasn't happened yet, but every once in a while an episode will hint at that shift in direction. The show is fighting for its life, so it must be a constant temptation.
