so im the only one who thinks pete is basically the least funny character
― barack husession (J0rdan S.), Friday, 7 November 2008 07:41 (seventeen years ago)
also i hope i'm not the only one thinking about starting "thread of missing dr. spaceman"
― barack husession (J0rdan S.), Friday, 7 November 2008 07:42 (seventeen years ago)
Pete isn't unfunny (he's had some great stuff), but he's basically required to be the straight man almost 100% of the time. It's a bummer, though, because Scott Adsit is capable of great stuff (Mr. Show, woot!).
― Jouster, Friday, 7 November 2008 07:45 (seventeen years ago)
Love Pete. Want more Twofer too. Less Kenneth would be fine.
― Super Cub, Friday, 7 November 2008 08:16 (seventeen years ago)
While we're on the subject, Frank does not deserve to be in the opening credits.
― Jouster, Friday, 7 November 2008 08:26 (seventeen years ago)
Spaceman will return. You can be sure of it.
― The Lyrical Jesse James (Pillbox), Friday, 7 November 2008 08:31 (seventeen years ago)
Less Kenneth would be fine.
I actually liked Kenneth in this episode but: Having just watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall (meh, mostly), I'm wondering if that actor can do anything even slightly different then the babe-in-the-woods schtick.

No, my least favorite episodes are the ones that include a plot line involving Pete.
When was he on Mr. Show? I've watched every episode many times but don't remember him.

Where is rachel dratch? Who else would be willing to trade out 3 cast members (your choice) for a permanent spot for dratch?
I hope this show remains under threat of cancellation, as it will give the writers cart blanche to go crazy, believing the show is doomed.
One of the last episodes of the X-Files had a psychic who recreated the Brady Bunch set and characters that killed people with his crazy psychic powers. That's how crazy-awesome 30 rock should be ALL THE TIME.
― Philip Nunez, Saturday, 8 November 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)
it's been well established that dratch is out of the running.

When people say "bad episode", do they mean "bad episode of 30 Rock" or "bad episode in general"? Even if this was a weaker episode, a weak 30 Rock episode is still funnier than most things on TV.
"I don't believe in hypotheticals Mr. Donagy...it's like lying to your brain." is a line we should all cherish.
― Gukbe, Saturday, 8 November 2008 19:39 (seventeen years ago)
I think both eps so far this year are roundly and soundly good.
Also, Jennifer Anniston looks like she'll be pretty good at her cameo as a psycho next week.
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 8 November 2008 19:42 (seventeen years ago)
jenna in blackface was hilarious
Considering how much I hated her on Ally McBeal, I find Jane K. completely amazing on this show. She is a national treasure.
― polyphonic, Saturday, 8 November 2008 19:56 (seventeen years ago)
I liked her on Ally McBeal...because I never watched the show. Before 30 Rock, I only knew her via the talk show circuit.
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 8 November 2008 19:57 (seventeen years ago)
We all make mistakes, and watching a few episodes of that show was one of mine.
But I mean Robert Downey Jr. was on it for awhile! Hard for me to resist that dude. And the guy from Ghostbusters II!

Before 30 Rock, I remembered her as the crazy Amway wife in Go
― Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Sunday, 9 November 2008 06:55 (seventeen years ago)
She was OK as the white trash cousin in Nat'l Lampoon's Vacation but every role since is one that Rachel Dratch is more suited for.
Rachel Dratch as crazy Amway wife in Go, Rachel Dratch as ditsy blond in Ally McBeal. Dratch Dratch Dratch. Better Better Better.

btw i thought the 2nd episode was funnier and, uh, closer to the real soul of 30 rock than the 1st, hopefully signalling that the show's gonna slide back into its groove after some early season ratings pandering

I thought the second episode was corporate-soulless compared to the first ep/that awesome run of episodes last season. Lot of lols, but of the empty, spasmodic kind.
I wouldn't blame Jane K. for her annoying character on Ally McBeal, that was all on DEK. Anyway, Dratch couldn't possibly evoke JK's SEX-uality.
― Leee, Sunday, 9 November 2008 20:27 (seventeen years ago)
the second episode was corporate-soulless compared to the first ep
Yeah, I agree with this. I keep waiting for 30 Rock to start pandering to a larger audience and lose the qualities that make it so great. Hasn't happened yet, but every once in a while an episode will hint at that shift in direction. The show is fighting for its life, so it must be a constant temptation.
― Super Cub, Sunday, 9 November 2008 21:14 (seventeen years ago)
Kenneth was hilarious in the lift. "You'll have to choke me with my belt, I'll fight you, it's only natural..."
