Just ran 1.6 miles! Longest run since my injury.

Jeff, Wednesday, 9 June 2010 22:13 (sixteen years ago)

I got two of these, they are fantastic. I've never enjoyed icing my knees so much. Pricey but highly recommended.

i ran this morning but not outdoors. I miss the feeling of working out and being extremely tired in a good way.

If you're not already stretching your calves you probably should be. It will help you recover quicker and come back stronger. Try this maybe: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-241-287--8969-0,00.html

Ran 3 miles tonight. Too humid. Ugh.

ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Friday, 11 June 2010 06:02 (sixteen years ago)

i ran in the middle of the day today, it was stupid. i get a weird popping sensation around my knee sometimes. not painful though. i wonder what it is & hope it's not bad.

harbl, Saturday, 12 June 2010 19:37 (sixteen years ago)

was also totally ignorant about calf-stretching. i stretch them only one way, by leaning against something. i should do those. there are just too many stretches to do and i do like 4.

harbl, Saturday, 12 June 2010 19:41 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i dont wanna spend as much time stretching as running ffs

plax (ico), Saturday, 12 June 2010 19:43 (sixteen years ago)

rite, then you gotta do your weights and shit, that's hard enough. then you gotta go hang out on the internet for a couple hours. life is so busy.

harbl, Saturday, 12 June 2010 19:45 (sixteen years ago)

you do weights???

plax (ico), Saturday, 12 June 2010 19:55 (sixteen years ago)

i just do the internet part

plax (ico), Saturday, 12 June 2010 19:55 (sixteen years ago)

it's nothing serious

harbl, Saturday, 12 June 2010 20:02 (sixteen years ago)

I don't stretch half as much as I should either, just a couple of basic moves post-run...but if there's a particular area that's causing you problems, then stretching it makes a lot of sense imo.

seandalai, Sunday, 13 June 2010 01:20 (sixteen years ago)

i never see any deer around here but a *huge* rat crossed my path while i was running today

harbl, Monday, 14 June 2010 03:09 (sixteen years ago)

it was almost as big as a deer

harbl, Monday, 14 June 2010 03:09 (sixteen years ago)

It's 11:02am, I'm on my "honeymoon" should I go run +/- 11 miles y/n? also i am a bit drunk............... hmmmmmmm

ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Monday, 14 June 2010 04:02 (sixteen years ago)

should have challeneged it to a rat race imo

i just stretch the areas that feel sore or tight, usually my calves.

xp don't ask us ffs!

maybe you should go for a run, might burn off that unhealthy aggression.

Two 5Ks at the weekend. 23:20 and 23:05. Not shabby, but I want to break 23 mins!

Dr.C, Monday, 14 June 2010 09:47 (sixteen years ago)

don't run when drunk, or on honeymoon, is what I always say

cozen, Monday, 14 June 2010 09:51 (sixteen years ago)

Still can't get over 2 miles because of injury. Maybe I'll try again today.

Jeff, Monday, 14 June 2010 11:36 (sixteen years ago)

jeff, i did my first 5 miles (since my injury three weeks ago) on sunday. felt slow and shaky, and i walked the last 1/4th but... hallelujah.

ampersand (remy bean), Monday, 14 June 2010 12:11 (sixteen years ago)

exuding an aroma of lolz (Hunt3r), Monday, 14 June 2010 15:55 (sixteen years ago)

i also did my first 10k yesterday! 53 mins. i was kind of pleasantly surprised.

thomp, Monday, 14 June 2010 16:21 (sixteen years ago)

haha was it the same 10k? TWO ILXORS PASSING EACH OTHER ON THE ROAD

thomp, Monday, 14 June 2010 16:22 (sixteen years ago)

53 mins is damn good! congrats

i did mine in NJ/NY it was the George Washington Bridge challenge.

Aerosol, Monday, 14 June 2010 16:26 (sixteen years ago)

thankyou. mine was in a stately home in england, so not so much

have just signed up for a half marathon in three months. this may have been a bad idea i think

thomp, Monday, 14 June 2010 16:34 (sixteen years ago)

i kept being all "will i wont i" abt every upcoming 10k/half marathon, and then when i had even half committed to myself i wouldnt run for a while. kinda realised that im not a ~competitive~ runner, i am a zen runner (i breath in life)

plax (ico), Monday, 14 June 2010 16:47 (sixteen years ago)

Hello I'm joining your dailymile group. So far I've 'ran' 5k twice, around 30mins I think. It was harder doing it alone this morning than with gf at the weekend, but maybe it was just being up really early. Not sure what my aim is, I think it'd be nice just to be able to run 15-20k a week without my knees falling off or something.

useless chamber, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 08:40 (sixteen years ago)

I friended you.

2.34 miles yesterday and at a 8 minute pace. Still some pain afterward though, but progressing slowly.

Jeff, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 11:20 (sixteen years ago)

just went for my first run for a month! (thesis-writing took over.) 4k in 20 mins, i.e. similar pace to the 10k I did in May, which is alright I suppose. gonna join that dailymile thing now, think it will be a good motivator to keep up the habit. Really appreciate having ilx as a runners' support group and a place to my record my little achievements!

p-dog, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 15:26 (sixteen years ago)

if you can do 10k in 53mins I wouldn't be too worried about a half marathon

cozen, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 15:30 (sixteen years ago)

i can do 10k in 62 mins, and i'm p worried about a half marathon tbh.

Really appreciate having ilx as a runners' support group and a place to my record my little achievements!

yeah, it's been great for me too.
