i'm wondering what the point of P.I. guys speech was now. was he insinuating Walt should kill Jesse? what actions was he trying to talk Walt into?

did he think Gus's mediation was a half measure - or Walt letting Jess do whatever with those dealers?

i figured he was saying time to kill jesse, he had become a liability. but i guess the effect of the speech could just as easily have made walt do what he did.

yeah you're right. just idly speculating really. i honestly can't see where walt/jesse are going to go now.

Walt seems to be working off the idea that he's either untouchable or he doesn't have anything to lose (except of course his family's lives. . . ) Jesse is just going to have to leave town.

My guess is that Walt has picked up on Gus' innate sense of business, and that Gus already has a bit of a mentor fondness (or weakness) for Walt, in a similar dimension that Walt has with Jesse. Walt is probably hoping (or will, quite possibly he'll be super panicked next episode if he hasn't thought this through!) he can still negotiate with Gus, or at least stave him off for a while.

Gus' dealing with the Jesse situation was the first time we really saw cracks in his armor - it's possible he's just not cut out for the street level stuff, like Heisenberg. Maybe he made similar, horrible mistakes in his past as has been alluded to. I don't think he manipulated the situation, it seems more likely he managed it badly - a half-measure, with the pathetically vague "no kids" line, though before Jesse's "NO!" Gus was as scary and bad-ass as we've ever seen him.

I don't usually watch the Sneak Peeks on AMC btw, but the one for next ep is well worth it.

we're assuming Gus will figure out Walt had something to do with it. if Walt can get his car fixed quickly (probably by that mechanic they keep torturing) and/or dispose of the bodies well enough; i think the assumption would be Jesse is to blame. esp if he goes m.i.a.

oh ya - s03 finale is next ep!!!

btw total raised eyebrow at "I am a not a murderer" from Walt.

love sarcastic hank - "yeah, that's exactly what i'm saying. now deal you little prick." the hj thing was lol, but kind of a silly way to get him out of the hospital i thought.

minor point, this ep was obv awesome and i can't wait til the finale.

Wow. Brian Cranston is a really good actor. That minute or so at the beginning of the preview clip where he sits and waits in his smashed Aztec for whatever is coming over the horizon was great. You could tell Walt was scared, and probably not scared enough, but also irritated that the person he was waiting for was late, which is kind of Walt in a nutshell. When he grabbed his hat, I said, "Heisenberg hat!!!" and that was pretty great, too.

I'm super excited about this season finale. And a little apprehensive. Shit's going to be tense. It's called Full Measures!!! Yikes.

that shit was more surprising than anything that ever happened in for example, lost, and it made total sense.

My thoughts on Tomas: My take on this is that the local kingpins resented being told what to do (obv), so they just "followed orders" by exploiting a loophole that would just be one big "FU" to Jesse. They had to know that he'd come back on them at some point, but these do not seem to be men who think strategically in terms of long-term consequences.

Me too strangely! Even my wife goes to the other room when its on.

I had to skip some episodes in the Tucco story arc because the depiction of insane, dangerous, meth-addled crazy people was a little too accurate for my comfort, so I can kind of understand that.

xp and sometimes I have to go into another room when things get really intense! I still love the show, but yeah. It's hard to watch sometimes.

ya - my gf admits it's a quality show, but she can't handle watching it.

Yeah, I came this close to bailing at the end of S1. Though the second and third episodes were wicked, but the rest didn't entirely convince me. So glad I stuck with it; it was the ep where they were trapped in the desert with Tucco which made me realise how extraordinary it is.

xposts - I have convinced one IRL friend to watch it, and he's as hooked as me now. Everyone else kind of balks when they hear 'Dad from Malcolm in the Middle'.

yeah i def struggled to watch some of the more intense scenes earlier on in the show. now i think i'm a bit more used to it i just sit there with my jaw on the floor most of the time.

the pacing of this episode, and of this season really, has been so so spot on.

yeah I shotgunned the first season over the course of a weekend w/my gf half watching over my shoulder and she says she can't watch it now cos it really bummed her out

i feel like the show only really developed the sense of humour it has now in season two but i might just not be remembering right

i watched first two seasons in the middle of a 3 week sickness in jan...i never find it depressing or affecting. like, not that i'm a sociopath, i do see it is dark and not a happy show but i get a great joy from the quality of the storytelling. my friend in work says she feels like vomiting when she watches it.

i totally felt for jesse in the scene in the car where walt was all "you know jesse, your actions do affect other people". jesse is the only one who actually cares about the consequences of his actions!

the whole thing has brought jesse nothing but absolute misery its actually so depressing isn't it

Jesse seems like the kind of guy who would've figured out a way to screw up his life regardless, but yeah there is no denying that Walt hasn't exactly set him on a road to life success.

well he (was) clean and also rich...when walt met him he was prob worse off again. it's impossible to blame walt imo, eg he'd never have met jane if it wasn't for getting involved with walt either.

he turned out to not be a very good "the bad guy" tho i guess.
