Elvis, what were your reasons for dropping DF?

Simple attrition. I was trimming things back in my RSS reader and couldn't come up with a reason to keep reading DF. If there's something worth reading over there, usually someone else I read will link to it.

Elvis Telecom, Monday, 7 June 2010 19:40 (sixteen years ago)

ksh, Monday, 7 June 2010 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

pitchfork.com

NUDE. MAYNE. (s1ocki), Monday, 7 June 2010 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

seriously tho, how much more news do you need about this

NUDE. MAYNE. (s1ocki), Monday, 7 June 2010 20:30 (sixteen years ago)

you don't need tech news. take a holiday for two weeks, catch up with your blogs in one day, see how much of it actually mattered. cross-post to you posting that wired article.

caek, Monday, 7 June 2010 20:30 (sixteen years ago)

Are they ever going to release an iphone with more than 50 gb hard drives? Want to eventually replace my 80 gb ipod...

mayor jingleberries, Monday, 7 June 2010 20:37 (sixteen years ago)

ksh, Monday, 7 June 2010 22:59 (sixteen years ago)

the annoying thing about that is i assume he would be opposed to conservative policies based on his occasional post about U.S. politics, but he's convinced himself that his congratulations are meaningful. not like he literally believes david cameron got the message. more that if he doesn't acknowledge this news with a post (or "essay" as he probably calls them) then his readers will not hear about it.

caek, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:02 (sixteen years ago)

I really have no idea why he'd link to something like that either, tbh.

ksh, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:03 (sixteen years ago)

I don't think he actually believes "that if he doesn't acknowledge this news with a post (or "essay" as he probably calls them) then his readers will not hear about it," though. Not sure what his posting it means; I'd have to think about it more than I want to, really.

ksh, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:06 (sixteen years ago)

That video is horrible. I mean I'm a fanboy, but godddamn I want to punch everyone in it in the face.

Jeff, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:10 (sixteen years ago)

xp, no, you're right. its more the assumption that his opinion on this issue will be of interest to sentient adults

caek, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:13 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, I think you're hitting on something there -- there really is no rationale for a post like that to end up on DF. Sure it's his personal blog, but it's clearly a blog of a particular type, and a post like that has way more to do with his signaling stuff about himself than it does about saying anything useful.

ksh, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:16 (sixteen years ago)

totes.

caek, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:18 (sixteen years ago)

stet, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:18 (sixteen years ago)

also looks like iBooks is no longer glaring white

stet, Monday, 7 June 2010 23:19 (sixteen years ago)

I hate how in the iBooks app, it is made to look like a book, with the stacked pages on the side, and the shadow leading to the center crease. I want ebooks, because it doesn't have those distractions. I don't want to replicate the act of reading a real book, I want to eliminate the visual distractions. Kindle app is much better.

but can ibooks do quotes and apostrophes properly now?

re: gruber on tories, think he's being sarcastic: the "unusual elections" he's comparing it to
must be 2000/2004 not 2008. of course you might still think he should stfu.

June 15th, isn't it?

New Safari's out. Has Reader which is pretty nice (same as Readability bookmarklet basically) and extensions. Can't make any, need a "safari developer certificate". Here we go again.

stet, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 00:07 (sixteen years ago)

anyone know what options someone might have if they got an iPhone at the AT&T store yesterday?

(lulz etc but a friend did this yesterday without consulting me. i know if you order from apple in a two-week window before you get obsoleted they'll usually let you exchange but i'm not sure what the deal would be in this case)

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Tuesday, 8 June 2010 00:17 (sixteen years ago)

all I know is that I eligible for the upgrade price. how to shot selling current phone in ebay

gbx, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 00:18 (sixteen years ago)

idk but o2 in the UK is offering £197 or something to recycle an iPhone 3G so that probably makes an iPhone 4 almost free w/ contract.
