Used to dislike Corden but recently watched all 3 series of Gavin & Stacey and really liked it and him (hides).

Gavin & Stacey is perfectly watchable but so gentle that I find it kind of infuriating.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 7 June 2010 01:52 (sixteen years ago)

I like the gentleness (if that's a word) of it. Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon the absolute best things about it.

Chris, Monday, 7 June 2010 01:55 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, Brydon's great in it.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 7 June 2010 01:59 (sixteen years ago)

But it always leaves me craving an episode of Peep Show or something to get the sweet taste out of my mouth.

The duo have teamed up to rework the 1984 Tears for Fears hit Shout.

The video for their unofficial anthem - called Shout for England - was filmed this week at the Stoop in Twickenham, home of Harlequins Rugby Club.

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 07:31 (sixteen years ago)

Heard the song on BrGTalent final, thought it was trotting along merrily enough till this lump bounced out on stage. The chorus ending on "Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" was a little o_O.

Am not enjoying living in the Corden (lad in the street)/Chiles (Man in the street)/C Cole (nations's sweet<3) era of UK.

tetrahedron of space (woof), Tuesday, 8 June 2010 09:01 (sixteen years ago)

I just can't find it in myself to hate him (or Chiles or Cole for that matter - aand at least she's stopped beating up defending herself in nightclubs). They just don't get any reaction from me at all. Actually I found his pretend managing in the Football Aid match quite amusing.

I'm saving all my hate for George Osbourne, he seems far more worthwhile.

Ned Trifle (Notinmyname), Tuesday, 8 June 2010 09:36 (sixteen years ago)

They put local radio on at work so loud I can hear it over my headphones. Fuck a Cheryl Cole and her songs about being in lol love with lol ashley being played once every half hour.

Chiles is aiight, shame I'll never see him again and I'll really start to miss him by the first motd2 I next see.

Corden should fuck off.

tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 8 June 2010 09:39 (sixteen years ago)

Those songs are so obviously about will.I.am and that album's great so gtf.

Just walked past him in my building. He was on the phone so I didn't tell him to fuck off.

hmm you're not the Brydon-loathing Chris i thought you were

The chorus ending on "Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" was a little o_O

Yeah, really. We're not yet living in that post-hooligan utopia where it's okay to reclaim violent yob chants.

I'm also pretty shocked that they didn't try to rework the chorus lyrics AT ALL. How does "These are the things we can do without" make sense in a footbally context?

Slumpman, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 21:42 (sixteen years ago)

Shout, Shout, let it all out,
This is the team that we care about,
Come on,
I'm talking to you - come on.

I think even this is better that leaving it the same.

i think he's the most inoccuous bloke to inspire ire in recent British history. i've never seen anything quite like it.

every time i think about james corden i want to actually kill him

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 8 June 2010 22:24 (sixteen years ago)

He's so needy and smarmy, and clearly unfulfilled by his previously credible acting career to the extent he insists on becoming an all-round (lol, fat bastard) media celebrity scumbag. He makes otherwise sane people like my mother want to throw bricks at prams

James Corden and Sir Patrick Stewart clash on stage

Sir Patrick criticised Corden - host of the event - for standing with his hands in his pockets, adding: "From where I was sitting, I could see your belly."

Corden responded: "You could see my belly. I can see you dying right now."

Not okay to reclaim Tears for Fears either.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 9 June 2010 09:49 (sixteen years ago)

Robbie Williams (yes, other punchable cnut, I know) also reclaimed "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" for Millennium.

And Fat Les (yes, punchable cnuts, I know) to thread.

I sense a theme.

He's so needy and smarmy, and clearly unfulfilled by his previously credible acting career to the extent he insists on becoming an all-round (lol, fat bastard) media celebrity scumbag

I get this, but people keep letting him! Why is that? Does anyone actually *like* James Corden, media gobshite?

ailsa, Wednesday, 9 June 2010 09:51 (sixteen years ago)

he's pretty popular outside of ilx as far a i can tell. well except for that sketch show he did.

Lil' Lj & The World (jim in glasgow), Wednesday, 9 June 2010 10:02 (sixteen years ago)

but why on earth IS he popular? what kind of moron do you have to be to find him funny/worthwhile?

also i just remembered that other total cunt of a comedian, frankie boyle. maybe even worse?

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 9 June 2010 10:04 (sixteen years ago)

i HATE these people so fucking much. actual scum of the earth. vile.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 9 June 2010 10:04 (sixteen years ago)

He seems to have a Calumesque short fuse for being challenged in any slight way.

Mark G, Wednesday, 9 June 2010 10:06 (sixteen years ago)

sometimes in very dark moments, I remember I'm not James Corden, and life seems a little bit better.

hey it's (jel --), Wednesday, 9 June 2010 18:37 (sixteen years ago)

Something about comics: they get really annoyed if someone else starts trying to make jokes on their patch, as if others need a zing permit while they are there.

WHEN CROWS GO BAD (suzy), Wednesday, 9 June 2010 18:40 (sixteen years ago)

He's just graceless, and I'm a snob, I guess.

Captain Picard needs better zings than 'lol u fat' if he wants something more graceful than 'lol u old' in response.

true...but corden's demeanour etc is fucking repulsive.

I thought JC's response was more about PatStew boring the audience, but then I didn't see it so...

Zoe Saldana.

Cheryl Cole thanked her dentist in her acceptance speech
Accepting her award, she said to Corden: "I like your belly but I'd like to see Sir Patrick Stewart dying on stage any day."

Corden then said: "I feel bad for people who haven't seen my belly."

To huge applause, the Gavin and Stacey star lifted his T-shirt, revealing his tummy.

Referring to Sir Patrick, he said: "OK can we get a taxi really quickly please. There's an old man going home."

Several stars commented on the verbal tussle.

"Entertaining"

Nowhere Boy actor Aaron Johnson said: "I love your belly. That was intense. I didn't know where to look."

NEXT STOP JC'S ARSE!

Mark G, Thursday, 10 June 2010 13:01 (sixteen years ago)

Bloody picture captions! Ignore the Cheryl Code line, that was Zoe Saldana who said that.

Was PS making a joke that went wrong? That footage is so repulsive, JC all leaning into PS's face jeering at him like an obnoxious drunk. I don't understand why the more hateful tabloids are all STEWART BATTERED BY CORDEN'S SCATHING WIT about it. Does his PR pull strings high up at the Sun/Mail?

NI, Thursday, 10 June 2010 17:05 (sixteen years ago)

That extension is A+++, shame it's not on firefox.

State Attorney Foxhart Cubycheck (Billy Dods), Thursday, 10 June 2010 17:14 (sixteen years ago)

Don't know if JC said something before that head to head, but it appeared to be an unprovoked attack from PS. Uncalled for, no? The Jonas Brothers gag too, what was that all about?

Chris, Thursday, 10 June 2010 17:55 (sixteen years ago)

one year passes...

James Corden stands for an awful lot of things that I despise, mainly bullying 'funny' ladism. I loathe his face, his manner, and even the shortest trailers for that f'ing Question of Sport thing that he does is enough to make me wallow in bitter misanthropy for the rest of the day. But seeing him in One Man, Two Guv'nors yesterday had me crying with laughter, admiring his wit, geniality and sensitivity to an audience, his immense capacity for genuinely funny clowning and physical humour. Yes, you could say that he's a good actor, which obscures the less palatable public personality, but it's not as simple as that; the play is clearly directed around James Corden - he's required numerous times to rely on his personality and stores of, to me generally non-existant, charm., and yet it was completely winning. Mysterious.

Apparently he's really harsh to crew according to a friend who worked at the Brits. Major crime in my book.

also he's a smug unfunny cunt which doesn't help
