I want to try Gus' Chilean fish stew.

yeah bigtime!
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:38 (sixteen years ago)
i want to meet gus' kids! and, also, to have some of the fish stew
― Lamp, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 00:37 (sixteen years ago)
got the netflick of 1st season disc one. first episode was ok, dunno if i can continue unless something bad is going to happen to the wife because i hate her. don't tell me though.
― harbl, Saturday, 5 June 2010 22:36 (sixteen years ago)
Stop watching. Your never going to like the show.
FWIW, I like Skylers character a lot.
― Jeff, Saturday, 5 June 2010 22:47 (sixteen years ago)
:(
― harbl, Saturday, 5 June 2010 22:48 (sixteen years ago)
Actually, don't stop watching, the show is fantastic. Just close your eyes everytime there is a Skyler scene.
― Jeff, Saturday, 5 June 2010 23:03 (sixteen years ago)
I really hated Skyler until about the end of season 2, and her big showcase in "IFT" this season was so badass that I now consider her one of my favorite characters.
― billy, Saturday, 5 June 2010 23:45 (sixteen years ago)
Don't LOVE her now, but generally agree - after you're caught up with the show, you can read my rantings about the character after season 2 ended, further up in the thread. It honestly was the one thing that kept from really classifying this as a truly great show - absolutely despised the character - and they finally started addressing it this season - she's a much better character now.
― Nhex, Sunday, 6 June 2010 01:02 (sixteen years ago)
Skyler is a shit human and an interesting character

― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 6 June 2010 05:54 (sixteen years ago)
post-twins, I kinda hate everyone on this show
― jeff, Sunday, 6 June 2010 06:12 (sixteen years ago)
i watched 2 and 3 and they were much better. i still hate her, though. i don't think i'll be able to stop watching it now but it's hard, i think my tolerance for horribleness is low atm. the bathtub goo thing omg!
― harbl, Sunday, 6 June 2010 13:44 (sixteen years ago)
tbh i wish i had 2 dvds at a time because now it's gonna be until wednesday i can't watch another
― harbl, Sunday, 6 June 2010 13:47 (sixteen years ago)
What do you not like about Skylar?
― Jeff, Sunday, 6 June 2010 14:05 (sixteen years ago)
to be fair skyler is basically awful and 1-dimensional in episode 1
― The Clegg Effect (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 6 June 2010 14:09 (sixteen years ago)
as is hank
Yeah that's one thing I love about this show, how my loyalties/sympathies/interests have shifted amongst characters. Season 1 was all about Walter, then in season 2 it was Jesse, and now it's the "secondary" characters like Skyler and Hank that I want to watch more of.
― billy, Sunday, 6 June 2010 14:33 (sixteen years ago)
yeah she is awful and 1-dimensional, i think she could have been awful without being 1-dimensional and i would feel better about her
― harbl, Sunday, 6 June 2010 14:52 (sixteen years ago)
I'll give you one dimensional, especially early on, but I fail to see why she is awful. In what regards?
― Jeff, Sunday, 6 June 2010 15:16 (sixteen years ago)
really?! maybe you mean the acting is not awful (it's not) but i mean she is an awful person without question. nagging wife stereotype, "mom," giving handjob while paying attention to ebay, buys veggie bacon, clueless about real life, etc. i understand that's how it has to be because you can't have a mid-life crisis nightmare story w/o the guy's wife totally sucking but it doesn't make it less painful to watch (& that's why it's good, of course).
― harbl, Sunday, 6 June 2010 16:59 (sixteen years ago)
"mom" characters generally make me cringe irl and on tv!
― harbl, Sunday, 6 June 2010 17:00 (sixteen years ago)
er, rearrange that, i'm not cringing on tv
― harbl, Sunday, 6 June 2010 17:02 (sixteen years ago)
she is shrewy for sure but stick it out cause she does eventually get hers, in fact everyone gets theirs (save for poor wittle walter junior, which is a shame cause he's a major putz who needs to get one life imo)
― del griffith, Sunday, 6 June 2010 18:18 (sixteen years ago)
xp - funny... similar disagreement i have with my sister about skyler and betty draper, both of whom she identifies with much more as a wife + mom. sky has come a long way since ep1 though, keep watching!
i will be disappointed if they don't do anything else with walt jr. even if it's something as contrived as the rehab gf/combo connection... but pleased to say i'm excited for this week's ep again after the lull, which might not be such a lull on a dvd run through or whatever.
― like a guttenberg, strong with your mane (another al3x), Sunday, 6 June 2010 21:19 (sixteen years ago)
she identifies with skyler? oh no.
yeah harbl, i agreed with you pretty much 100%... unfortunately you're gonna have to tolerate it for quite a while, but the show is totally worth it. also, the seasons are relatively short.
― Nhex, Sunday, 6 June 2010 21:28 (sixteen years ago)
at least skyler's not as bad as will's wife in glee, who I see they've now all but killed off she was so bad
― idg 77 per cent of SNs (cozen), Sunday, 6 June 2010 21:43 (sixteen years ago)
finally caught up with last week's. so good.
marie to hank as he tries (and fails) to walk: "pain is just injury leaving your body!" hank: "pain is my foot up your ass, marie!!"
what did gus mean about making the same mistake twice? working with jesse i guess?
i was shocked to see jane. that's two people they've brought back from the dead (in flashback) this season. goddamn jesse had a good thing there huh?
the scene where BROCK and the grandmom walk in was AYOOOO CLASSIC. what is going on with jesse here? his brain is seriously malfunctioning. these guys used to know all the shitty motels and hangout spots and squats to sell to, but jesse needs to pull some kind of undercover three-day espionage shit just to sell one little deal? this is his plan??
i was convinced that when jesse get given the rock at the end he was going to look down and see blue stuff.
― The Clegg Effect (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 6 June 2010 22:19 (sixteen years ago)
oh also can i just say i am glad that jesse appears to have a shred of humanity remaining.
― The Clegg Effect (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 6 June 2010 22:21 (sixteen years ago)
isn't jesse's idea that they keep things more private so they're not on the streets dealing and attracting the type of people who killed his buddy?
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 6 June 2010 22:48 (sixteen years ago)
that's two people they've brought back from the dead (in flashback) this season.
I make it three (Jane, Combo and Tortuga).

i would like to point out that like everyone on this show is a shit human and an interesting character.
― I have been forks-style since day one (forksclovetofu), Monday, 7 June 2010 00:52 (sixteen years ago)
after the ending to tonight's episode i'm thinkin walt oughta forget about the car wash and invest in a windshield replacement business instead
― del griffith, Monday, 7 June 2010 03:09 (sixteen years ago)
i was worried with the goofy handshake thing but then they reaffirmed my faith with the ending. no more half measures.

watching these late, but just finished watching the episode with the first appearance of Saul Goodman. Holy shit.

Walt is ICE COLD.
So much plot and character beats fitted into less than an hour, yet it never for a second felt rushed. How do the writers do it? I am in awe.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 7 June 2010 14:11 (sixteen years ago)
oh man that ending SO GOOD. this show and its HOLY SHIT moments!
― Nhex, Monday, 7 June 2010 14:12 (sixteen years ago)
xp right on man, i was constantly surprised how many things were happening, and that the episode kept going
― Nhex, Monday, 7 June 2010 14:13 (sixteen years ago)
Had a good chortle at Skylar Wikipediaing money laundering.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 7 June 2010 14:24 (sixteen years ago)
hah me too. also gotta love BB's trademark blatant foreshadowing too: 1)"i'd use mom's car, but you know the brakes are like EEEKKKKKKKK" 2)walt's immensely massive denial in "I am not a murderer, you are not a murderer"
― Nhex, Monday, 7 June 2010 14:31 (sixteen years ago)
run
― idg 77 per cent of SNs (cozen), Monday, 7 June 2010 14:32 (sixteen years ago)
so A) how does this not get traced back to Walt's car? and B) how does Gus not blame Jesse for this?
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 7 June 2010 17:39 (sixteen years ago)
rip walt's latest windshield

i dunno, i kinda figure that by this point, having now done what they've done, walt & jesse are basically in it to win it and they're gonna have taken over the entire southwest operation by the middle of next season, with hank in tow and gus's scalp on their belt
― del griffith, Monday, 7 June 2010 19:14 (sixteen years ago)
i noticed the meet with Jesse did not warrant veggies and dip.
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 7 June 2010 19:31 (sixteen years ago)
i thought walt would blame the deaths on jesse somehow...like maybe he was just protecting him and now will cut him loose. or maybe he's hoping he knows enough about gus to talk his way out of the repercussions.
i fucking LOVED saul's fixer guy's story...so well written and so well acted, he is a brilliant character. this whole ep was amazing tho, BB's grim montages with happy music are growing in confidence each episode!
