someone did this to me, aye. i added him. it was unrewarding. it does, however, mean i occasionally get updates that seem to be suggesting i've added the cocksmearing application or have joined the jim davidson fan club, which is disconcerting for half a second or so.

My bf got more than one random person with his surname going "hay add me we have same last name lol maybe u r my cuz" kind of shit. I've never had that but my surname is reasonably common. Also, I pay FB abt 0.00001% attention.

there's an entire facebook group for people who have my first name/last name combination. only 90 of the 500+ people with that name are in that group, though.

I have a strict "eat, drink, or sleep" policy for adding Facebook friends: if we've done at least one of those three together, I'll add you, otherwise, please go bother your cousin's uncle's boss or some shit.

Currently not enjoying getting updates about what my ex is up to. Her recent status update was '*** ****** is happy', which sent all kinds of cogs spinning in my mind. I should probably defriend her, but I want to be actual friends with her when the bitterness has died down.

I kind of liked it better when it had to start with 'is' - sometimes restrictions aid creativity.

I always thought this was going to be a thread about someone who had been asked by a friend, but not a boyfriend*, if they could add them as their girlfriend on Facebook as a way of making them look more interesting. We would then have to discuss this social minefield.

I always don't know whether I should accept requests from people who I *was* friends with but that I haven't seen/communicated with in fifteen-plus years. it usually just ends up with both parties going "omg i haven't seen you in AGES, whatchu up to now?" on the wall-to-wall and then never speaking to each other again.

There's a button at the top that says "Try the NEW Facebook" or something to that effect that should let you reload with the new design. I think going to "new.facebook.com" should pull it up too.

Sure, I don't really see where or how it's necessary per se. The wall-feed is cool imo because it brings everything together, makes your entire page a big "this is the most recent shit I've done on FB" status updater. I'm with you in thinking it could stand for a better look, but I love the idea of it.

Removed a friend for the first time ever.

1. Barely know the guy
2. Shamess Howard supporter
3. Every time he wants to sell something or publicise himself, he updates his status EVERY HALF HOUR just so he's always in everyone's top three

I really love how the new Facebook now shows every status update a person makes in a day, thereby shaming those who change their status every 5 min (though you can probably still delete an old status to avoid this, no one on my friends list seems to be doing so.)

I find that the new FB is still pretty glitchy though - I surf in Opera, so they may not have really checked that browser. The CSS messes up a lot if you have images turned off.

i bet leon wieseltier would join facebook if he knew dr. morbius was on it.

I don't even know how to interpret your complaints. I think it's fine and not altogether different from the previous design -- and in fact, it's less aesthetically busy, which is a good thing.

What's hilarious is all the people who are only up in arms about this now, the ones who have clearly been reverting to the Old Facebook for the last few weeks until it was no longer an option. Live with the new design for a while, like the rest of us have, and then get back to me.

i got used to the new last.fm so i shouldn't slag it off yet, but smooshing up news feed and wall is deeply baffling, and the extreme left-alignment is weird.

Having said all of that, it still owns My$pace amirite?
