Luis Gutierrez got 80some% too IIRC.

I voted for the Green candidate b/c the dude showed up at our door one day. No I can't remember his name.

I'm a Jan fan, but she's not my rep. I'm in Rahm's district, too. My state reps are Cullerton and Feigenholtz, who retained their seats.

I was hoping that the greens might have won Water Reclamation District commissioner, but they did not.

tit deep in abomination (Jenny), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:21 (seventeen years ago)

Oh I forgot to mention that I won tickets to that Swedish vampire movie for tomorrow night. Anyone want to see it with me? It starts at 7:00 at Landmark, but I'm probably going to get there at least 30-40 minutes early, because they always overbook these things.

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:22 (seventeen years ago)

dang i would but i have class until 6:30 and then practice

metametadata (n/a), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:23 (seventeen years ago)

I voted Green for most of my local elections unless I particularly liked or hated the other candidates (Dick Durbin and Tony Peraica, respectively).

Oooo I definitely want to see that movie. Is it going to have a regular run at the Landmark or is it one night only?

tit deep in abomination (Jenny), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:24 (seventeen years ago)

i want to do something fun tonight since i have barely left the house so far this week

metametadata (n/a), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:28 (seventeen years ago)

I think it is going to have a regular run -- this is just a preview screening.

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:30 (seventeen years ago)

lol I voted for Tony Peraica against Todd Stroger for Cook Co. Board President, the only time in my life I have voted Republican. (It had less to do with Peraica than with Stroger, who seemed like an incompetent stooge).

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:32 (seventeen years ago)

Oh okay, good. I really want to see it, but I can't go tomorrow. Don't tell me if it sucks!

John - I did the same, for the same reason. And I think we were right. Sigh.

tit deep in abomination (Jenny), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:32 (seventeen years ago)

John, I would love to go with you if no one else has taken the ticket off your hands.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:38 (seventeen years ago)

As long as we can hold each other during the scary parts.

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:40 (seventeen years ago)

Jesse will cut a hole in the bottom of the popcorn bag.

tit deep in abomination (Jenny), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:41 (seventeen years ago)

Haha. That gets me every time. I need to find the email where you first said "You can cut a hole in the popcorn bucket and put your pecker through it."

I am not reading ANY bad news if I can help it today. Tomorrow I can deal with bad stuff. For today I'm going to enjoy the good parts.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:43 (seventeen years ago)

wtf you sent me that stupid editorial saying we should be sorry for Bush, what was that?

good luck usa (dan m), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:43 (seventeen years ago)

that was for LOLs

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:45 (seventeen years ago)

Bush is on his way out.

good luck usa (dan m), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

Haha. That gets me every time. I need to find the email where you first said "You can cut a hole in the popcorn bucket and put your pecker through it."

this is from the movie "diner" and also from history

metametadata (n/a), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

I suppose dumber than shit does not equal bad, necessarily

But in this case it totally does.

Note: I never claimed originally re: pecker through the popcorn bucket.

tit deep in abomination (Jenny), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:49 (seventeen years ago)

IT IS?

JENNNNNNIFERRRRR!!!!

(to be read in the voice of Colonel Klink)

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)

good luck usa (dan m), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:53 (seventeen years ago)

not authenticity, just plain HISTORY

metametadata (n/a), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:54 (seventeen years ago)

i'm wiser and sadder

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:56 (seventeen years ago)

i'm not sure there's an inauthentic way to stick your penis through the bottom of a popcorn box

metametadata (n/a), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:58 (seventeen years ago)

i guess if you used a dildo

metametadata (n/a), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:58 (seventeen years ago)

xps lol

good luck usa (dan m), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 21:58 (seventeen years ago)

Anyway, yes, John, I would love to go with you. And you can hold the popcorn box through the scary parts.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:09 (seventeen years ago)

or, the scary parts through the popcorn box

good luck usa (dan m), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:10 (seventeen years ago)

Excellent. Shall we meet there at like 6:20-6:30? Whoever gets there first can just hold a place in line.

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:11 (seventeen years ago)

OK. I will leave work at 5:15 or so, which would put me there about 6:00-6:15.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

ah so disappointed in dupage, it's always so red.
i will move to cook one day.

primalfixations, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:18 (seventeen years ago)

just went to check on NC...Guilford County went RED? I'm very surprised.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:19 (seventeen years ago)

I was looking at the UP county by county results earlier. My home county went red (not a big surprise) but several more-rural-than-rural (i.e. "real america" Sarah Palin style) counties went blue, which was a nice thing to see. Go Ontonagon!

good luck usa (dan m), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:24 (seventeen years ago)

I'm looking forward to NC being called.
http://www.news-record.com/content/2008/11/05/article/with_all_votes_in_nc_president_race_too_close_to_call

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:27 (seventeen years ago)

Kevin said that a friend of his flew home to NC this week just to vote! Looks like the right choice.

good luck usa (dan m), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:30 (seventeen years ago)

Jesse where did you see Guilford county going red? They were like the lone spot of blue in NC in 2004!

tit deep in abomination (Jenny), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:33 (seventeen years ago)

OH WAIT I'M DUMB and I was looking at Wilkes Co. LOL

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:39 (seventeen years ago)

OH GOOD. That would have made me sad to see the librulest county in NC go red in this election of all elections.

tit deep in abomination (Jenny), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 22:40 (seventeen years ago)

Man, the cover of this week's Reader is awful. I had to rant to them about it in their comments section.

Eazy, Thursday, 6 November 2008 01:17 (seventeen years ago)

is that an 3rdman? he is the last person I want painting Obama right now

good luck usa (dan m), Thursday, 6 November 2008 01:20 (seventeen years ago)

It is. He has one of McCain as well. There's also a Studs painting, not sure if it's his, that mimics the Obama posters and says HOPE DIES LAST. Jesus.

I mean, I love the Reader, but my first reaction to the cover was: I wish Obama had said "Don't screw this up" to the Reader three years ago, when it was the best source for local news and arts coverage in Chicago.

Eazy, Thursday, 6 November 2008 01:26 (seventeen years ago)

I guess I don't have very many conservafriends. I scrolled through like two dozen "OMG YOU GUYS!!!!" before I got to one tepid "Evelyn accepts the coming changes, but is not sure how it will affect her." And I haven't even spoken to her since 8th grade.

― jaymc, Wednesday, November 5, 2008 11:00 AM (9 hours ago) Bookmark

haha this is like a pitch-perfect parody of my conservafriends

"R_____ is processing her thoughts and feelings, this could possible take all night!!! 10:06pm"

deej, Thursday, 6 November 2008 02:31 (seventeen years ago)

also yeah major thumbs down on that reader cover, wtf

and john - how on earth did u meet obama??

deej, Thursday, 6 November 2008 02:31 (seventeen years ago)

Someone with whom I was actually good friends back in the day changed his status to "JC hopes the restaurant isn't empty because his clientele thinks the savior's wealth redistribution plan started to-day."

I rolled my eyes so hard I think they are still somewhere toward the back of my skull.

tit deep in abomination (Jenny), Thursday, 6 November 2008 03:01 (seventeen years ago)

<a href="http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ViewUserProfileControllerServlet?messageid=2846&boardid=40&threadid=53739";>...</a>

I got a Wii fit. I'm pretty sure I'm almost indestructible now. 20 minutes in.

Jeff, Thursday, 6 November 2008 03:10 (seventeen years ago)

Wow. The Reader cover.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Thursday, 6 November 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

It seems to me that the problem is one of timing. Today the story is that history was made- a major historical figure was born, America woke up and spoke out after years of complacency, African-American and all American history has changed forever. Yes, it's important to hold him to his promises, and no one is asking for "cheerleading," but to play the watchdog today is at best to be posing as jaded and world-weary no-nonsense, hard news, and at worst, a slap in the face to all the peoplefor whom BHO's election was one of the most significant things of their lives.

Disappointing.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Thursday, 6 November 2008 04:15 (seventeen years ago)

I said this in an email to Jenny, but for me it boils down to the likely fact that a lot of people into local art and the Reader and whatever gave a lot of time and money to help the campaign, and that portrayal of Obama kind of shits on that effort. Then again, what do I know about art.

xpost!

good luck usa (dan m), Thursday, 6 November 2008 04:17 (seventeen years ago)

So I opened this thread to see if there was any good Obamarally stuff (k@tie has been in hiding all day) and now find myself thinking that a popcorn bag handjob would be really unpleasant what with the grains of salt and all.
