yeah none of it seems to add up
― conrad, Monday, 24 May 2010 22:57 (sixteen years ago)
Oh, yeah, good point about the light, conrad. Although Jack didn't turn into smoke. Or did he???? That would explain how he went from the bottom of a light hole to the banks of the rocky river.
― sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Monday, 24 May 2010 22:58 (sixteen years ago)
Television Without Pity's "Burning Questions left by the Lost finale" is kinda the dumbest thing ever.
Ahahahaha. Seconded.
― Ice Man Hearts Manly Interests, Monday, 24 May 2010 22:58 (sixteen years ago)
Come on, this one is also pretty valid:
"How much money did a successful band like Drive Shaft have to get paid in order to agree to be back-up to some weird nobody on piano?"
― sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:00 (sixteen years ago)
A couple bucks more than a diaper commercial pays?
― President Keyes, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:02 (sixteen years ago)
"Why was the light so easy to turn on and off?" is a pretty valid question, though.
Wasn't it pretty clear that if you weren't Desmond trying to turn that light off would kill you instantly?
― President Keyes, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:03 (sixteen years ago)
claire seemed equally hate-able on the after show kimmel thing
― |8 l) u_u (bnw), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:04 (sixteen years ago)
Haha okay OKAY.
― sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:05 (sixteen years ago)
Then why didn't it kill Jack right away to turn it back on? xxpost
― wmlynch, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:05 (sixteen years ago)
Cause he needed to die in the bamboo. Obviously.
― President Keyes, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:06 (sixteen years ago)
confusing isn't it
― conrad, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:06 (sixteen years ago)
the entire alt-world was just heterosexual heaven
― long time listener, first time balla (history mayne), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:20 (sixteen years ago)
Well, the island did start to freak out when Desmond removed the stone wang from the vagina of light, so that is at least consistent.
― sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:22 (sixteen years ago)
I swear I saw the hieroglyphics for "no homo."

I think most of the answers to our burning questions are revealed once we realize that the deus ex machina in this narrative is a couple of mediocre writers.
― Ice Man Hearts Manly Interests, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:27 (sixteen years ago)
are they named jacob and esau?
― wmlynch, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:28 (sixteen years ago)
Michael Ausiello confirmed today that Boone (Ian Sommerhalder) isn't the gay character on Lost--if there even is a gay character. (Getting a clear answer from the show hasn't been easy.) Why would anyone be daft enough to think there was in the first place? Oh, maybe because Lost executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have twice hinted that there would be, including on their March 21 podcast where they said the upcoming "Expose" episode might reveal a gay character. That was the episode where Boone was chastised for hitting on guys while running through the airport.
remember when it was exciting when there might be a gay character on this prog no me neither
― conrad, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:28 (sixteen years ago)
Anyone else noticed how there was no 'proper' smoke monster in the finale at all? Might have well have just written an entire hour hour series wrap-up and left Ben Linus out, ffs.
― James Mitchell, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:44 (sixteen years ago)
no smoke monster and no reference whatever to the numbers
― conrad, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:46 (sixteen years ago)

nothing about the vintage WWII pins worn by the Oceanic staff
nothing about Walt
jesus christ this sucked. my wife was still pissed when she woke up this morning.
― bug holocaust (sleeve), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:50 (sixteen years ago)
i keep seeing ppl saying how did jacob get off the island to 'touch' the candidates. I though it was implied somewhere that the magic mirrors in the lighthouse were sort of portal like.
jack just said "HE'S BEEN WATCHING US OUR WHOLE LIVES!!!" during his freakout, i don't think there was any in-show suggestion that they were permeable or whatever. because if they were, goddamn! way to introduce a magical portal that will allow our characters to easily move through time and space and then smash it four minutes after introducing it!
― wtf why are there vampires in forever 21 (reddening), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:51 (sixteen years ago)
p.s. why did christian leave claire that music box.
― wtf why are there vampires in forever 21 (reddening), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:52 (sixteen years ago)
Did anyone notice the stuffed Hurley bird perched in the background during the magical vagina birth scene?
― Ice Man Hearts Manly Interests, Monday, 24 May 2010 23:54 (sixteen years ago)
The music box was a metaphor for her magical memory-restoring vagina.
hurley bird should've been with them in heaven, more important character than dogen imo.
ugh i'm still frustrated the most at the jacob storyline. he clearly has access to magic, otherworldly devices, powers, etc. but the show implies that he was given no real cosmic enlightenment, and is in fact just bumbling around, trying to figure out what to do with it and creating arbitrary rules. that's just...cognitive dissonance to me. "oh i have magic but idk what the fuck i'm doing."
― wtf why are there vampires in forever 21 (reddening), Monday, 24 May 2010 23:58 (sixteen years ago)
i'm still not sure why biblical jacob had to wrestle an angel.
― Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 00:00 (sixteen years ago)
"oh i have magic but idk what the fuck i'm doing."
That's probably how I would act if I had magic powers too tbh

At least there'll be a remake in 20 years that our kids will love and we'll get to bitch about how the remake's final episode was no way near as good as 'our' finale.
― James Mitchell, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 00:02 (sixteen years ago)
Note to self: if there is ever a remake, please don't waste six years watching it.
― James Mitchell, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 00:03 (sixteen years ago)
Noteworthy: Eloise Hawking seems to know the score, has access to this way-station/purgatory reality, maybe without being a part of it. "You're not going to take my son, are you?"

foster kamer is g dam terrible
fuck, i can't believe how much that ending/entire season sucked
don't want to think about it
it's not even that it didn't resolve arcane mysteries like the dharma food-drops. it didn't even explain what the fuck the 'alt timeline' *was*. it's some stage of the afterlife as imagined by _____________
i mean first question: when did the alt-timeline/purgatory *start*? not at the start of the season, i.e. on the plane, but just at some other time? it had nothing to do with the island sinking (which happened why?) or with the bomb (so far as i can tell)
― long time listener, first time balla (history mayne), Tuesday, 25 May 2010 00:33 (sixteen years ago)
I get the sense that the original conception for the ending (before they even shot the Pilot) was for the island to be purgatory and the flashbacks were to show how the characters had all been connected together, which would explain why they were in purgatory together. I'd say the idea of having "flashsideways" to purgatory was hatched sometime in season 5 -- Jack disappearing from the Ajira plane is a setup to have the coffin disappear, which would set off the reveal scene, which was probably part of the original planned JJ Abrams ending.
