They just called Indiana for O. Awesome.

I felt something like patriotism last night. It felt funny and kind of good. I'm sort of feeling proud to be an American.

But when the crowd started chanting "USA" I tried and quickly realized that I wasn't quite ready for that jelly.

I've been feeling a good bit of patriotism lately. Having friends in foreign countries helps.

It's possible to be a patriot without buying into the stupid side of it imo

Local shopping: today everyone wanted to chat about the result, especially the Bangladeshi guys who run the off-license/overpriced awful food shop where I bought the full set of newspapers not owned by Rupert Murdoch.

xp The dress would have looked much better if that red fadey bit didn't go all geometric fake belt/weirdo bad seamcraft at the waistline (that kind of thing can look cheap). Better for there to be a straight red fade interrupted by an actual wide cinch belt. We know she rocked the Alaïa belt and it would look good with last night's dress. She is so cool and so toned, wrong clothes appear to wear her and this is one of them.

You know something? The absolute best choice for a cheesesteak topping is Cheez Wiz (aka "wit").

I am speechless. No. Cheesesteak requires cheese.

Maybe it's just that cheez wiz is better than you're used to, but that hardly excuses it.

You realize that it's very much authentic Philadelphia style to put Cheez Wiz on a cheesesteak, right?

As someone once said, giving the people what they want is one thing, but what about what they don't know that they want?

But I was incorrect about the "wit" which refers to onions.

Good god almighty, I never ever want an authentic cheesesteak. That makes "cheesesteak" sound on the level of "dirty sanchez."

jenny, i cried at fucking everything last night.

and then i thought i was done, and declared it so. no more crying.

i was laying in bed trying to sleep with my mind spinning at 2 am or so, and listening to city noise. some guy yelled out "YES WE CAN!" out of the relative quiet, and i cried again.

then i thought i was done. but i keep reading things today that get me misty all over again. ah well.

i've never had philly cheesesteak, but it sounds NASTY.

also, i like that all my religious facebook friends are bemoaning the results of prop 8. they're the good kind of religious. :)

I guess they've been playing a couple new songs live lately, but they haven't recorded anything, so I doubt it was them. If they do record a new album, it will be kind of weird for me, because most of the songs will probably be songs I had something to do with writing.

Philly cheesesteaks are delicious - fuck the haterz.

You can get an authentic cheesesteak with either Cheese Wiz or provolone, although Philadelphia is a town rent asunder by debate over which is better and more authentic. Personally, I like them both equally, but in different ways. However, I am from Delaware, which is not Philadelphia, as much as we sometimes might like to pretend that it is.

Ed Rendell is kind of a goober, too. The biggest obstacles that I personally have found in the way of a good Philly cheesesteak outside of Philadelphia are incorrect choice of bread (Amoroso's FTW) and an urge to expand the cheese selections beyond Wiz or provolone.

None of which is to say that a cheesesteak outside of these parameters is not good, just that it doesn't meet the definition of Philly cheesesteak. Call it something else, like "Delicious Non-regionally Affiliated Steak Sandwich."
