Best thing about this episode was the return of the totally untrustworthy, creepy, morally ambiguous lying dick Ben rather than the gimpy emo Ben we've seen all series.

Still, he's probably going to get to shack up with Rousseau in the alt, so I hope he's happy.

No idea where this last episode is going at all, but I love that Desmond is at the centre. That concert is going to be fun.

chances are ben will be about as successful as sawyer, though, right?

funny that widmore assumes that ben will definitely want to destroy the island (i assume that's why he didn't want Ben to hear it - unless there's more to that secret whisper, which I doubt)

At least the producers let Mira Furlan be pretty. She was made to look facking horrible as crazy island Rousseau back in the earlier seasons.

You guys, I might just not watch the finale and work hard to never hear anything about it. There's no way it will be satisfying.

the seinfeld finale was pretty satisfying in retrospect. the malcolm in the middle finale was very 'lost'-esque.

tbf, Seinfeld was much easier to wrap up than Lost. I liked it at the time, and I like it even more now. The thing I've started to realize about Lost is that I like all the things about the show that I've cooked up on my own, and almost nothing that the creators actually explain or intend.

ok what is your satisfactory finale cookup?

Ideally, the MiB gets off the island and the parallel timeline turns out to be reality, proving that Jacob was just a manipulative goon who was killed with good reason. Or at least something partially along those lines.

As for what will actually happen, I have no idea. But every time the show actually offers a resolution, it sucks. I don't know why they would change their M.O. now.

In the season premiere, the island had been destroyed...if Smokey/Flocke/MiB is successful, the parallel timeline should become reality. The only wrench in the machine is what Smokey actually turns out to be. I'm hoping all the claims about him being pure evil are misdirection (i.e. things cooked up by Jacob to justify his own actions). Nothing Smokey has done has run counter to behavior of one person trying to escape captivity. Jacob, on the other hand, changes his story and his motivation all the damn time.

There's an interesting writing problem with what Smokey would do once he got out. Would he just bum around, or run for office or what?

i find it hard to believe that the candidates were chosen simply because they were "flawed" and not because jacob knew they would somehow travel to the past and change all this shit on the island

Now that Jack is the new Jacob, Hurley, Sawyer & Kate are no longer candidates, right? Which means MIB can kill them (or doesn't need to.)

Are Keamy and Christian the only characters of note who are dead in both timelines? I don't think it means much, but I'm just trying to keep track.

Remember that blog that was all "Hurley is the key, he's the only one who's not really flawed" or w/ev? I was kinda hoping he'd turn out to be the candidate that volunteers for the island job. Or at least that there'd be some discussion other than Jack's "yeah I'll do it" "ok".
