I hope that smokey makes it to the light coming out of the middle of the island, is about to go into it, and then Desmond pops out and beats the shit out of him.

What if (and this actually has some past story facts working against it, mind you) Desmond in the alt.timeline is actually Smokey? The island was destroyed, because he got off it and is now bringing everyone together at this concert to kill them once and for all?

Things you'd have to ignore for this to be true, though: Charlie is the one who convinced alt.Desmond that there's a parallel timeline and where is the real Desmond?

Still, that would be a pretty badass ending.

OK, what if alt-Desmond doesn't remember just what has already happened to Desmond that we have seen, but remembers all the shit that is yet to happen? So he somehow stops smokey by altering our Desmond's actions to keep him from succeeding.

the people in the alt timeline who found their constants definitely see all that happened in the original timeline -- like sun remembering that locke was evil, which didn't happen until 3 years after the plane crash.

I forgot about the whole constant angle. If Daniel and Desmond are constant twins, who is everyone else's? Maybe Desmond is everyone's constant?

I love how Desmond beating the crap out of Ben is what made Ben remember the Island -- I guess he's taken enough beatings there for it to jog his memory.

i'd hoped that the flash sideways would be resolved or at least explained around the halfway point of the season, but when that didn't happen it seemed obvious that they were gonna save that for the finale

xposts aggghhh the constant thing was one of the biggest piles of BS they've had and if they specifically bring that back then aagghhh

I'll allow them (just) to continue using their intense moments of wuv thing to explain how they see into the other timeline but even that is shitty enough.

fucking constants and light and magic potions and magic mirrors and magic swimming pools, how do they work? it's turning into LOTR elves and pixie crap. I wanted more sinister doctors and injections and time travel and long cons dammit!

regarding constants..... they've gone with people they love now. daniel's constant wasn't des. it probably only affects people who were on the island, too. juliet's "it worked" seems to be a red herring as original timeline peeps can't see the alt timeline.

The constant thing was just to do with keeping your head together while time travelling or something, wasn't it? Maybe Jack does have a super-love, his ex-wife. I can't figure how the person I had down as David's mum fits into the alt, though...

I'm sad that Widmore got killed, I was really starting to enjoy him.

I never really 'got' Widmore, he didn't seem to live up to the position the show put him in and up against Ben could never really come off especially ruthless or interesting

The Shadow of the Statue people, the Temple people, and Widmore's crew were all pure cannon fodder and nothing more. Kinda lame.

at least Widmore hired a few people that became memorable characters, those other groups were total flashes in the pan. it's been like 10 episodes since Dogen and I can already barely remember him.

Widmore also hired Naomi, Daniel, Miles, Lapidus, Charlotte, and Keamy...so the Widmore contingent wins on the memorable characters quotient.

probably very satisfying for ben to shoot widmore, but maybe ben was trying to stop him from telling smokey secrets, then to cover, he's all, "BTW I hate this guy's GUTS"

also, locke's "i like the feel of ground on my feet" explanation seems fishy. maybe there's a vulnerability in smoke mode he's hiding?

Best thing about this episode was the return of the totally untrustworthy, creepy, morally ambiguous lying dick Ben rather than the gimpy emo Ben we've seen all series.

Still, he's probably going to get to shack up with Rousseau in the alt, so I hope he's happy.

No idea where this last episode is going at all, but I love that Desmond is at the centre. That concert is going to be fun.

chances are ben will be about as successful as sawyer, though, right?

funny that widmore assumes that ben will definitely want to destroy the island (i assume that's why he didn't want Ben to hear it - unless there's more to that secret whisper, which I doubt)

At least the producers let Mira Furlan be pretty. She was made to look facking horrible as crazy island Rousseau back in the earlier seasons.
