On "Check it Out," in the "Doctor to Doctor" segments, are those people actors, or assorted hack pseudo-doctors they've invited on?

The Terrys, by Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim
― and can i get those tips frosted, please? (Z S), Sunday, 15 May 2011 20:32 (thirteen years ago) link
They've always had an interest in uncomfortably dark stuff, flirted with it more over time. Thats nuts though! Chrimbus Special had too many of their old tricks, and while this has a bit of that too, I think they made it work.
― Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Monday, 16 May 2011 05:13 (thirteen years ago) link
It was weird watching that since the Adult Swim show seems so Rated R already.
It really isn't, but it was strange realizing that I had never heard Heidecker say the F word before.
The look on his face after he delivers the baby… and then walking out to get some food. It was sweet.
And I don't know what it is about him, but I can't stand Eric Wareheim. He's still funny.

This is my favorite Heidecker & Wood song so far:

the soundtrack disc is really good, even though I've never seen the show. reminds me of Sifl and Olly's stuff but even more out there. some of this is really legit - "Lost in the Wheel", "Dirty Socks", "Doo Dah Doo Doo", "Petite Feet", and "Rolo Tony" are all on repeat

has anybody pulled the trigger on billion dollar movie? It doesn't look so good but I'm hopeful.
― WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 01:02 (twelve years ago) link
An over-overextended T&EASGJ skit with Funny or Die's clumsy pawprints all over it. The plot-driven padding tramples T&E's manic/erratic antihumor. The gross-out gags, grotesque characters, and glut of guest stars can only do so much to keep the film from flatlining. It was about as good as Macgruber, and it really should have been a lot better.
― silent ouzo eclipse (Mr. Hal Jam), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:41 (twelve years ago) link
yeah I can't see how any T&E thing over 2-3 minutes can be good. compare those 1-minute sketches like "Rolo Tony" and "It's Not Jackie Chan" with those insanely long videos with Zack Galafinikis

― johnny crunch, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:50 (twelve years ago) link
yeah that's basically why i'm more looking forward to the comedy, it seems like a much better way to extend t&e's humor into a full length feature
― ≧^◡^≦ (diamonddave85), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:54 (twelve years ago) link
it's like "The Terrys" via UHF. not so awesome.
― silent ouzo eclipse (Mr. Hal Jam), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:57 (twelve years ago) link
I'm watching Billion Dollar Movie right now... I'd say if you really like Tim and Eric its worth watching, but its definitely got the feel of an SNL film where a 5 minute skit is extended to 90 minutes.

you know... they kind of never actually do this with their SNL movies. They always try to expand the universe of the skit which is where it gets really boring. Like the coneheads going to pta meetings and shit.

I couldn't get through the movie. Turned it off.
Check It Out, on the other hand, has been great.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 10 May 2012 17:52 (twelve years ago) link
Yeah, I've come to the conclusion that sketch performers (which is sorta kinda what T&E are) should probably just not make movies. Monty Python are a really rare exception, but I think that's because they came to movies with solid ideas beyond, "Hey, let's make a movie!"
― You Don't Throw Oranges On An Escalator (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 10 May 2012 18:25 (twelve years ago) link
Obviously, I mean sketch performers shouldn't just basically make a film adaptation of their sketch show. I have no problem with them making films in general (I mean, what would Bridesmaids have been without Heidecker?).
― You Don't Throw Oranges On An Escalator (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 10 May 2012 18:28 (twelve years ago) link
their error was they should have asked me to come and guide them. I could have saved the movie. But they don't know I exist yet.
― The Cheerfull Turtle (Latham Green), Thursday, 10 May 2012 19:28 (twelve years ago) link
The problem with the movie I think was a lot of their signature bits were kind of old by that point. Otherwise greater analysis is required for me to specifically comment on it not working. I agree though...
The one scene that practically saved the movie was the meeting they had with Will Ferrell's character in his office. Loved it.
― Evan, Thursday, 10 May 2012 21:01 (twelve years ago) link
Yeah, it's a lot like Brain Candy and Run Ronnie Run inasmuch as there are a lot of great little moments, but a lot of great little moments in a suspension of meh does not a good movie make.
― You Don't Throw Oranges On An Escalator (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 10 May 2012 21:12 (twelve years ago) link
what I liek best about the show is the parody commercial, odd editing and effects, and the extras , not really the acting of tim and eric or poo
― The Cheerfull Turtle (Latham Green), Friday, 11 May 2012 20:34 (twelve years ago) link
i thought billion $ movie was pretty good! i'm not a superfan of the tv show (i like it but haven't seen all the eps) so maybe it's because i'm not coming from that perspective? i wasn't crazy about the big gross-out moments (cock-piercing and shrim bath) but i laughed a lot.
― congratulations (n/a), Monday, 11 June 2012 21:27 (twelve years ago) link
i just knew there would be like 30 posts praising that Paul Rudd sketch. so pitch perfect in a way they usually aren't. these guys are great with surrealism but simply chopping up a bunch of scenes or repeating lines over and over isn't really it. for example the "iJammer" sketch which is brilliant for about 45 seconds and then turns boring and weird
― frogbs, Monday, 16 July 2012 14:27 (eleven years ago) link
My humor isn't scatological either, but it was funny watching a shit-smeared Eric chase after a g-string clad Tim through a rundown mall and falling into the fountain.
Also going out on the town and sawing your arm off.
But yeah. Sketch comics have a hard time making movies for some reason.
― pplains, Monday, 16 July 2012 14:36 (eleven years ago) link
my new theory is they made that movei like when Dylan made "Self-portrait" in order to make their fans go away becuase they are tired of them
― The Cheerfull Turtle (Latham Green), Monday, 16 July 2012 14:43 (eleven years ago) link
Ouch! I at least liked the meeting the mall manager (Will Ferrell) had with Tim and Eric.
― Evan, Monday, 16 July 2012 14:47 (eleven years ago) link
The problem with the movie was that none of the ideas were fresh and the pacing was off.
― Evan, Monday, 16 July 2012 14:49 (eleven years ago) link
the meeting with Will Ferreell is the best part probably - mostly for Will Ferrell's weird reactions
