fucking kitzhaber. fucking saltzman. :(
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 19 May 2010 07:43 (sixteen years ago)
so it goes.
― Don Homer, I have baked a special donut just-a for you (kingfish), Wednesday, 19 May 2010 07:48 (sixteen years ago)
at least i can comfort myself with the fact that the field against saltzman all were terrible candidates with the only thing going for them being the fact that they aren't dan saltzman, but i was really pulling for bradbury
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 19 May 2010 07:52 (sixteen years ago)
Enh, i would have been happy with either bradbury or kitzhaber. I wound up voting for the latter. Still, nice to see the measures passed.
― Don Homer, I have baked a special donut just-a for you (kingfish), Wednesday, 19 May 2010 08:09 (sixteen years ago)
Wonder how Adams taking the Police Bureau from Saltzman may have garnered some sympathy votes. Probably didn't matter though -- no one ran a strong race against him.
― righteousmaelstrom, Wednesday, 19 May 2010 13:51 (sixteen years ago)
Did anyone see the republican debate on the local news a few weeks ago? Hilarious! If I wasn't registered as a Democrat I would have voted for the nutjob who wanted to make everyone live in domes and put stop signs everywhere. He was awesome.
― Darin, Wednesday, 19 May 2010 16:42 (sixteen years ago)
ha, who was this?
kitz brings pretty much nothing to the table. obv, I'll vote for him, but I strongly doubt I'll campaign for him like I was doing for bradbury.
― The Reverend, Thursday, 20 May 2010 04:39 (sixteen years ago)
I can't remember the guy's name, but I tried googleing him the following day and he was totally "off the grid" as it were. They must have just let him out for that single event. He also had some unconventional ideas involving making everyone house in the U.S. worth exactly $5,000. What a character!
― Darin, Thursday, 20 May 2010 14:57 (sixteen years ago)
There's a tech job fair on the east side that I'll be at tomorrow. See ya then.

Hey, it doesn't look like it will rain this weekend. Now if only the city doesn't float away.
This spring has been irredeemably shitty in terms of weather. Even for longtime Oregonians.
― righteousmaelstrom, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 16:40 (sixteen years ago)
I am going into this vacation assuming it will rain the entire time, so any respite from that will be a nice surprise.
― jaymc, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 16:45 (sixteen years ago)

My schedule is quickly filling up with stuff I want to make sure I do when I'm in town, so I may not be able to make this, but it's possible. Main question: what day? Memorial Day itself?

Not cheap. Also, jukebox can be good if you're there on a night w/ no assholes.
― Don Homer, I have baked a special donut just-a for you (kingfish), Friday, 28 May 2010 22:17 (sixteen years ago)
Not expensive either, tho. Only been there once tbh. I do most of my drinking on the westside. Thought I'd pick a place in my own neighborhood.

um, is there any portlander that wants to put an ilxor up on sat. night, coming into town on sat for a couple days and just realised that all the hostels are booked out that night. here is a rec. from the last guy i stayed w/ just fyi:
"Ti4rnán was a pleasure to host. He's friendly, thoughtful, and easy-going. Very unobtrusive. I enjoyed chatting with him about art, history, social theory, and everything inbetween. (He also introduced me to Autotune the News - it's a whole new world!) I heartily recommend hosting this guy."
further references available on request.

not sure how open it is right now but when I was up in portland w/ no place to stay I found that good samaritan hospital's nursing school (it's operated by linfield college) has these huge rooms (that you can prob. get to yourself) they rent out when they're unfilled for about ten to twenty bucks a night

― The Reverend, Friday, 8 October 2010 05:30 (fifteen years ago)
If I was living in my old place, sure, but I have no crashspace in the newer joint. There are multiple hostels here, tho.
