Guinea pigs not pickled lol. Look sorta roasted. It's not really people eating them that was gross just seeing them charred and whole was kinda surprising.

umm one of the "view image results" hits if you google the coconut crab involves one climbing up a guy's bare chest

for a second that felt gross, and then it started seeming like if you can just let them hang out on your bare chest, they must be pretty cool crabs

I think parasites that prey on humans sorta belong in their own category. ordinary bedbugs and ticks scare me way more than any fancy egg-backed toads or tongue-eating crabs. at a distance, even the most monstrous animals can seem almost cute, but the moment a living thing burrows into my body, it shuts off the part of my brain that goes "awwwwwwwwww."

I am surprised at the revulsion for the coconut crab - it seems to be pretty firmly planted on the good side of the arthropod divide

I have eaten more guinea pigs than I can remember now after seven months in Peru. Better than rabbit, not as good as chicken. lots of dark meat and little bones.

coconut crabs: i like them i just shudder to think about how if given the opportunity they would surely open up a baby's skull and casually help themselves to the brains

What is the fish that looks a lot like the viperfish but has giant, almost opaque eyeballs that are a solid milky white? And kind of a more elongated head? I had a picture book as a kid with a giant full page photo of two of their faces and it was the "scare yourself by turning to it" page for sure.
