Thanks, I'll take Lemieux, you can have Mr. Clutch.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 13 May 2010 21:54 (sixteen years ago)

How many game winning goals has Lemieux scored in the Stanley Cup Finals?

he takes the account of everything in the universe into consideration (dan m), Thursday, 13 May 2010 21:54 (sixteen years ago)

Good question, he's got 80 playoff goals though, and 5 Stanley Cups, so Im sure hes got at least one!

Bill Magill, Thursday, 13 May 2010 21:57 (sixteen years ago)

Claude Lemieux: "His 19 game-winning goals in the playoffs puts him in second place on the NHL's all-time list behind Wayne Gretzky, who had 24, and one ahead of Maurice Richard."

That's clutch.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 13 May 2010 22:01 (sixteen years ago)

I say we make them fight, then.

Claude L. always put me in the mind of Esa Tikkanen, another pest that had clutch playoffs

epic choke bruins

johnny crunch, Saturday, 15 May 2010 01:53 (sixteen years ago)

HAS to be considered the biggest playoff series choke ever, in any sport. I'd like to see how many home teams have ever coughed up a 3-goal lead in a Game 7, I'm betting not many.

A big Nelson Muntz laugh to the B's.

Bring on the Flyers!

Go Habs! J'y crois!

A. Begrand, Saturday, 15 May 2010 02:16 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, and Bruins fans have every right to throw a massive tantrum right now. That was absolutely inexcusable. It looked over with five minutes left in the first, and should have been.

haha Mike Babcock just last week fantasizing about his Wings winning a series after losing the first three games: "It happens once every 34 years or so - maybe this is our year."

Game 3 in the west is into OT. They're just trading chances right now. Marleau and Kane look especially dangerous. I love this Chicago team.

GOAL! Byfuglien just made it 3-0.

i think this might be the year san jose breaks through

possibly i was mistaken

mookieproof, Saturday, 22 May 2010 03:14 (sixteen years ago)

joe thornton: -9 in 13 playoff games

mookieproof, Saturday, 22 May 2010 03:16 (sixteen years ago)

Even though it looks like it's over for them, I think the Sharks have gone a long way towards answering some of their critics this post-season. Marleau in particular. Thornton to a lesser extent, and Heatley not so much.

Transfer at Yonge for Union station (j-rock), Saturday, 22 May 2010 03:19 (sixteen years ago)

stat just overheard: only one team has garnered 100 points in four straight seasons without making the finals (islanders 76-79). sharks are well on their way to becoming the second.

mookieproof, Saturday, 22 May 2010 03:23 (sixteen years ago)

100 pts a season means far less now with OT losses than it did in 76-79.

sofatruck, Saturday, 22 May 2010 03:34 (sixteen years ago)

During that span they got beat a couple times by arguably what were some of the best Montreal Canadiens teams of all-time. Then they went on to win 4 in a row. But yeah, that's not a good stat.

Transfer at Yonge for Union station (j-rock), Saturday, 22 May 2010 03:34 (sixteen years ago)

FUCK YEAH BABY!!! Go Hawks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill Magill, Sunday, 23 May 2010 23:11 (sixteen years ago)

Would still love to see an Original Six final, but don't think that's gonna happen...

Go Hawks, I guess.

Myonga Vön Bontee, Monday, 24 May 2010 03:28 (sixteen years ago)

would kind of like hossa to lose three straight finals, but it's not worth having the flyers win

mookieproof, Monday, 24 May 2010 03:30 (sixteen years ago)

Dan M. has been conspicuously quiet since the Claude Lemieux-Kris Draper showdown.

Bill Magill, Monday, 24 May 2010 20:49 (sixteen years ago)

yeah I couldn't possibly compare to your volume of 1 posts

dan m, Monday, 24 May 2010 20:52 (sixteen years ago)

holy shit asham's goal just now was beautiful

in which we apologize for sobering up (underrated aerosmith albums I have loved), Tuesday, 25 May 2010 00:09 (sixteen years ago)

This series scares the shit out of me, logically the hawks should be able to take out an 8 seed no sweat. But I know that it will not be easy, it never is for teams i root for. The Ramsey, NJ Bottle King will be taking a lot of my money during this series.

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 13:23 (sixteen years ago)

steve yzerman, tampa bay lightning general manager

seems pretty wrong imo

mookieproof, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 19:52 (sixteen years ago)

Where would you rather live, on the beach in Florida with no state income tax, or Detroit? Plus its not exactly a pressure cooker hockey market, pretty good way for him to cut his teeth in management.

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 19:57 (sixteen years ago)

i would actually rather live in detroit.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 20:02 (sixteen years ago)

^^^Yeah me too.

It troubles me a little that he's leaving, but I understand he wants to move on up.

dan m, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 20:07 (sixteen years ago)

Last night at open hockey I had to explain to a guy why the Montreal Canadiens are nicknamed "Habs". Never thought I'd have to do that.

Have fun with that.

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 20:45 (sixteen years ago)

C'mon Bill you're a Hawks fan! The only acceptable response is "Detroit Sucks".

dan m, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 20:46 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, man, but there's bigger fish to fry! Philly sucks!!!

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 21:03 (sixteen years ago)

Any anti-Detroit bias i may have, I really think its a great idea for Yzerman to take that job. It's a perfect setting to start out with, i think a job like Detroit or a Canadian team would just be too much pressure, especially Detroit, wherre he is a god.

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 21:05 (sixteen years ago)

Game 1 has been pretty entertaining so far. The Hawks haven't looked as good as I thought they would, and the Flyers have looked better. 9 goals in less than 2 periods are a lot more than I expected though. Still, the good guys are winning at the moment. The Ottawa Senators aside, is there a more repugnant team in the league than the Flyers?

Transfer at Yonge for Union station (j-rock), Sunday, 30 May 2010 01:56 (sixteen years ago)

that's bill magill hockey right there -- 11 goals, no fights, no penalties on the flyers (?!) hope you enjoyed it, big guy

mookieproof, Sunday, 30 May 2010 03:23 (sixteen years ago)

lmao

dan m, Sunday, 30 May 2010 06:59 (sixteen years ago)

barnaby on sports center referred to d. briere as a 'young player' and I'm pretty sure that little cocksucker has been in the league since winnipeg moved to phoenix. AT LEAST. also fuck the media for going into philly goalie drama discussions already. I want chicago to win but give me a break...

Oh, trust me, I've enjoyed these last two games very much!!!!!!

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 13:39 (sixteen years ago)

Hossa is one game away from ending his streak.

Bill Magill, Monday, 7 June 2010 16:16 (sixteen years ago)

Commentators said he disappeared off the Hawks bench, possibly hurt? I don't know if that was ever resolved.

Dirty fuckin' game last night.

dan m, Monday, 7 June 2010 16:18 (sixteen years ago)

he played after that. almost scored, if i remember correctly.

that was the first enjoyable game of the series. The rest were too nervewracking. Didnt look too dirty to me.

Bill Magill, Monday, 7 June 2010 16:27 (sixteen years ago)

such sloppy defense -- gary bettman must be touching himself

mookieproof, Monday, 7 June 2010 16:37 (sixteen years ago)

I dunno, sticks were getting up high, lots of late hits and raised elbows on both sides. Still, playoff hockey etc etc.

I was watching with my not-really-hockey-fan roomie, and we were both mystified why Philly pulled Boucher w/ more than 2 minutes to go.

dan m, Monday, 7 June 2010 16:41 (sixteen years ago)

cause they were down two goals?

there did seem to be a lot of sticks up, though i don't know about on purpose. weird that neither the high sticking of briere nor campbell was even called. the only *really* gratuitous cheap shot i remember was hartnell's elbowing penalty.
