Even though it looks like it's over for them, I think the Sharks have gone a long way towards answering some of their critics this post-season. Marleau in particular. Thornton to a lesser extent, and Heatley not so much.

stat just overheard: only one team has garnered 100 points in four straight seasons without making the finals (islanders 76-79). sharks are well on their way to becoming the second.

100 pts a season means far less now with OT losses than it did in 76-79.

During that span they got beat a couple times by arguably what were some of the best Montreal Canadiens teams of all-time. Then they went on to win 4 in a row. But yeah, that's not a good stat.

Any anti-Detroit bias i may have, I really think its a great idea for Yzerman to take that job. It's a perfect setting to start out with, i think a job like Detroit or a Canadian team would just be too much pressure, especially Detroit, wherre he is a god.

Game 1 has been pretty entertaining so far. The Hawks haven't looked as good as I thought they would, and the Flyers have looked better. 9 goals in less than 2 periods are a lot more than I expected though. Still, the good guys are winning at the moment. The Ottawa Senators aside, is there a more repugnant team in the league than the Flyers?

there did seem to be a lot of sticks up, though i don't know about on purpose. weird that neither the high sticking of briere nor campbell was even called. the only *really* gratuitous cheap shot i remember was hartnell's elbowing penalty.
