Okay, I can understand 3 Muskateers not being someone's favorite, but intentionally trading them for Bit O' Honey???????????????????

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:31 (sixteen years ago)

dude seriously & there were several of us who shared this opinion in 5th grade: bit o' honey was a status halloween candy. it had its own taste, and we thought that taste was good. most of the other candies are variations on a theme, but bit o'honey, that's honey-flavored nougat. it's like the abba-zabba that the millionaire guy in monopoly would eat.

that sounds like a pretty good case against it

what to speak of its "you're going to be the kind of kid who likes to get high, aren't you?" package design:

I feel like your bit-o-honey appreciation is completely tied to your childhood class-envy

okay I had never heard of Abba-Zabba until just now, I am certain you grew up in wacky backwards land where Bit O' Honey had a flavor beyond "suspiciously waxy"

I do like the packaging. Prefer the candy variety of Mary Jane, though.

As opposed to the herbal variety, since someone just mentioned getting hi.

Back when I was a lad, Bit-O-Honeys, Mary Janes, Squirrel Nut Zippers, and Abba-Zabbas were all well-known to be "bullshit candy".

there are a lot of old-school candies that seem to have been created in an attempt to harm children

omg YES

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:49 (sixteen years ago)

Sprees are watered-down wacky wafers but I gotta come correct: I am a guy who has ordered, and eaten, an entire display-case of these & who until recently could stomach & pronounce good pretty much any swill ferrara pan cared to serve up

-coconut M&M's are bizarre because they have roughly the texture of the shredded coconut you find in Mounds bars, but the flavor is virtually the same as plain ol' chocolate M&M's. they didn't even bother to dye the filling white, so it looks like lumpy compost when you bite it open.

-peanut butter M&M's are, I guess, Mars's attempt to quash the Reese's Pieces monopoly. they live up to their name, but I prefer the crumbly texture, slightly smaller size, and fall foliage color scheme of the Reese's. weirdly, I didn't even know pb M&M's existed until about a year ago.

-the dark chocolate ones aren't dark enough to stand out from the rest. I could definitely go for 70%-80% cocoa M&M's, but I doubt there's much of a market for them in the US.

-those tubes of M&M minis are waaaaay too easy to wolf down in one sitting.

-crispy RIP. truly, u dont kno wut u got til its gone.

pretzel M&M's: never had 'em, but underrated aerosmith has me intrigued.

went to the big m&ms store in times square after work just to get these. got a big $5 pack.

gf thinks they're like a superior version of crispy - that's def the first thing that comes to mind. these are no doubt in the top tier of m&m.

iatee, Friday, 14 May 2010 01:45 (sixteen years ago)

Almond, no question.

Simon H., Friday, 14 May 2010 01:48 (sixteen years ago)

the interesting thing about these is that it really matters how you eat it - it's not nearly as great if you suck the chocolate off the candy and then eat the pretzel part. that's the way I eat peanut m&ms so I have to adopt for these. a lot of the appeal is in the salt/chocolate interplay - gotta crunch right away.

iatee, Friday, 14 May 2010 01:52 (sixteen years ago)

these are as close as I can come to getting the chocolate-and-caramel-covered pretzel rods sold by mr. kite's on state street in Chicago, which are some of the finest noshing to be had anywhere at any price

wait iatee are you saying there's an official M&M's store near where you live & you're not making moves to squat and/or live there permanently? what is wrong with you
