"Fuck meet" sounds like "track meet" = there's that dag-blasted COMPETITION vibe abain. Howevah, it also has that endurance-implication to it, which makes it totally worthy.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:31 (twenty-three years ago)

(I actually agree with Mary, though I do think there are equally problematic aspects of the whole thing where people are all "friends" and "hang out" and then magically just "sleep together." But yes, the formality of the "date" is pretty much not a good thing, and feeds into that sort of cowing professional good-at-dating thing that I fear / admire / etc.)

(Oh, but you still need a word for people in your friendship orbit who you are semi getting it on with but are not your proper "girlfriend" or "boyfriend." Personally I like "girlperson" and "boyperson" for all indeterminate situations.)

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:33 (twenty-three years ago)

how bout 'person I fuck'?

buttch (Oops), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:36 (twenty-three years ago)

'fuck partner'?
'fuck friend'?
'fucky fuck fuck fuck'?

buttch (Oops), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

fuckee

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

We should call dates "liaisons"!

Would you like to liase with me on this project?

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

But all the things bad about the word 'date' make it a pretty accurate description of, for instance, what I went on last week or have set up for next week. I don't say this as a good thing - I was much happier for most of the 23 years I was with one woman, so not really 'dating' - but it's the way it is, and it's okay with me for the moment.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I think boyfriend/girlfriend sounds silly too though I guess I use it for convenience.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:46 (twenty-three years ago)

how about "all-most girlfriend, not quite sure, don't wanna tempt fate".

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:47 (twenty-three years ago)

well I didn't cry in the meeting but I think I'm gonna now.

this is the first time in my life when girls (plural) have been interested in me, much less a girl (singular), and you all make fun.

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:48 (twenty-three years ago)

boyfriend girlfriend are damn silly terms.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:48 (twenty-three years ago)

'fuck meet' is a good thing.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:49 (twenty-three years ago)

When two people magically sleep together, do doves and scarves shoot out of their naughty bits?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:49 (twenty-three years ago)

"This is what it sounds like, when doves and scarves shoot out of their naughty bits."

*cue Prince wailing*

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey, I'd wail, too. Do you know how big doves can grow?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:58 (twenty-three years ago)

bigger than Momus's pee pee?

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 19:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I have yet to see that. If it's thick enough for doves to come out of it, I would suggest he contact a doctor (or the Guinness Book of World Records).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"If all goes well tonight, I'll be firing off a few rounds from my dove cannon, ifyouknowwhatImean..."

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

what happened to the post where i told hstencil not to pull that pity crap with us?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:14 (twenty-three years ago)

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:17 (twenty-three years ago)

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:19 (twenty-three years ago)

"If all goes well tonight, I'll be firing off a few rounds from my dove cannon, ifyouknowwhatImean..."

"this is what it sounds like..."

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:20 (twenty-three years ago)

It sounds like Stencil has discovered the wonders of the Manhattan man shortage.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:24 (twenty-three years ago)

...when sperm fly (damn you nabisco)

buttch (Oops), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Flying sperm sound like "fuck you Nabisco?" (Oh right, right, they harmonize with the gym sock...)

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:29 (twenty-three years ago)

BRONGP, I have ruined an already-poor joke with my careless quoting. :(

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

H (Heruy), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Hang on a moment: I know from ILX that NYC is packed with lovely, clever, interesting and sexy women. Now I hear there is a man shortage. When is the next flight?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

They also like a british accent, allegedly.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 21:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, I discovered that on my first visit there. I'v never been so attractive! (I notice that I could remove the 'so' from that sentence...)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 21:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, British accents...and delicious candy!

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 21:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 May 2003 10:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Martin, you could get arrested for that.

I see the ILX ph34r of the word "date" has come up again...

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 1 May 2003 11:09 (twenty-three years ago)

"Dates" are great, dates less so.

Did I mention that I haven't been anywhere except work and home (and a brief visit to the market) in 72 hours? Try and spot me, if you can!

buttch (Oops), Thursday, 1 May 2003 21:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I saw another ILXer while I was loitering outside the Met with Otis this past weekend. But I wasn't sure it was him and didn't say hello because of it so I'm not naming names in case he thinks I was being rude.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 2 May 2003 04:03 (twenty-three years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 13 June 2003 07:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought I saw Chuck Eddy out of the corner of my eye in the Hoboken PATH station the other night -- Rosemary later said she spotted him in Hoboken heading towards the train, so I was right.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 13 June 2003 07:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Not me Steve. I've only shuttled between Wilsden and Crouch End today (wearing floor length denim skirt and black vest top). Who is this imposter? Burn the witch!
