so i missed this, is the rest of the cast actually gone and not returning?

I really seriously doubt any of them aren't coming back. In fact I think I've seen some of them make public statements about going back to work on the new season recently. More likely the first handful of episodes this season will be without them just 'mix things up' or whatever.

The full cast is returning, but instead of being on House's team they'll be heading teams of their own (or so says my mom, who read that someplace).

Yeah giving his old team their own teams could be alright, but if they're just going to put a new Cameron-type girl on House's team it'll be lame. But this show has already proved itself willing and eager to throw plausibility and character development out the window for an exciting "next week on House" promo. I give it at most 2 more seasons before they do something so ridiculous it gets hard to watch anymore.

I thought the reason to watch this show was the escalating ridiculousness!

Or I should say, I only want him to be accountable to his team who loves him in their own ways, but not to hospital boss guy who makes me thinking about sharp, sharp knives.

Although that guy who played the investigator is kind of hot, he's my type all over and was also Dedaelus in The Long Kiss Goodnight with Geena Davis rowwr.

Yeah House is such a good character and HL is such a good actor that it hardly matters if there's anything else going on of interest character- or narrative-wise (and there usually isn't!).

the five or six real laughs i got from the premiere were the biggest laughs i've had from TV in 2007.

the actual patient part of the story was really sad though.

I enjoy the show, but they're going to have to win me or I won't keep watching. The overamped drama about simply giving the patient dialysis was just weird. A building falls down and everyone's in prankster oodles-of-time mode instead of crisis management. I don't expect everything to be realistic, but I don't want to be distracted from the plot by the suspension of disbelief. Some funny lines though. I was hoping they'd keep the janitor on as his assistant.

it was kind of funny how obvious even in the first scene which applicants would get fired right away and which ones would get a speaking part and stick around for an episode or two. "OK, that's Kumar, he's definitely staying, the camera just lingered on that hot girl for a little too long, she's staying." Kal Penn had even less lines in last night's episode than he did in Superman Returns, though! presumably they'll flesh his character out more next week.

I watched the show for the first time last night, but with the sound off (it was on at a restaurant). There was no plot to distract from the Hugh Laurie gazing, and it seemed like the hospital drama equivalent of the Batman show--a bit of surrealist theater.

this is really not the kind of show worth jumping into now without at least having seen a few episodes from the first 2 seasons. not that it'd be as confusing as Lost or anything, but they kinda had to ramp up to what's going on now. and last night's episode was pretty stupid, I still don't feel like they adequately explained House's self-electrocution.

Wasn't he self-electrocuting because the guy he saw do it described it as better than drugs? And we know House digs drugs. Plus, he wanted to test whether there's an afterworld.

I am not interested in any of the newbies other than Unbelievably Old Guy, and that's mostly because I like kind old dudes. But then, I was never that interested in any of the original team, apart from Foreman. But Foreman was only interesting when he was not being incredibly angry which he was incredibly angry all of season 3, so.

Season three was largely just painful to lukewarm, except the episode with that old guy patient who'd done some Tuskeegee shit on babies back in the day.
