Rob Thomas said of all the television he has ever made, he is proudest of tomorrow's episode of VM.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Monday, 2 May 2005 16:45 (nineteen years ago) link

oh wow. i'm so excited!

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Monday, 2 May 2005 16:51 (nineteen years ago) link

He submitted it for Emmy consideration (along with the pilot and Clash of the Tritons)!

Melissa W (Melissa W), Monday, 2 May 2005 16:53 (nineteen years ago) link

wow, that's quite a big claim.

I wonder what will be the arc of the second series then, if it's all solved.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 2 May 2005 17:22 (nineteen years ago) link

oh and also, the logan kiss?!

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 2 May 2005 17:22 (nineteen years ago) link

Heh, what about it?

Other than...mmmmm. Logan.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Monday, 2 May 2005 17:25 (nineteen years ago) link

I was really shocked by it because - of course besides the obvious sizzling sexual tension between them - they are really two people who shouldn't have kissed, if truth be told, but it was completely believable.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 2 May 2005 17:29 (nineteen years ago) link

I love the way they've shaded out the veronica - logan relationship.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 2 May 2005 17:29 (nineteen years ago) link

It makes some sort of sense, as on a base level Veronica and Logan are very similar kids dealing with grief in their own caustic and defensive way.

From CTV.ca:

'Veronica Mars' Given Early Second-Season Renewal

(April 2005) - Warner Bros. International Television's critically acclaimed series "Veronica Mars" has been given an early pickup for a second season, with network heads lauding its fine cast, writing and production.

The one-hour drama was created by Rob Thomas and is executive produced by Thomas and Joel Silver.

"Veronica Mars" stars Kristen Bell ("Spartan," "Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical") in the title role as a high school student turned private investigator following the murder of her best friend. Veronica used to be one of the popular girls, but it all came crumbling down around her after Lilly was killed, and her then sheriff father, Keith (Enrico Colantoni - "Full Frontal), was removed from office for naming Lilly's rich dad as the lead suspect. During the day, Veronica negotiates high school like any average teenage girl. But at night, she helps with her father's struggling, new private investigator business--and what she finds may tear the seaside town of Neptune, California, apart at the seams.

In the first season finale, viewers learn ... well... watch CTV and see for yourself.

"Veronica Mars" is produced by Silver Pictures Television in association with and distributed by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution Inc. Production services provided by Stu Segall Productions Inc.

Aaaargh, they still haven't decided on when they're gonna broadcast the first season. It's still "Coming soon"... I'm *only* anticipating this because of this thread's existence and casual references to Buffy.

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Monday, 2 May 2005 18:55 (nineteen years ago) link

oh you should definitely be anticipating it -- it is super great!

I think he did an awesome job with the veronica/logan relationship and I'm sure it won't last, even if I want it to. I watched the extended preview for tonight's episode a couple of times, and it's gonna be intense. Don't forget to watch everyone! Even though I think only Melissa and Cozen read this thread. HEY GUYS.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 15:57 (nineteen years ago) link

this show is exactly like one of the best shows ever.

chiptshop, Tuesday, 3 May 2005 23:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Holy crap.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 01:09 (nineteen years ago) link

what show would that be?

and yes, HOLY CRAP! that was intense.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Thursday, 5 May 2005 02:41 (nineteen years ago) link

Next week's episode looks even more intense. Pins and needles.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 5 May 2005 03:01 (nineteen years ago) link

this isn't better, than lost, is it?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 5 May 2005 03:10 (nineteen years ago) link

Totally better. It's at least twice the show that Lost is. If not more.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 5 May 2005 03:13 (nineteen years ago) link

does it have polar bears?

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 5 May 2005 03:24 (nineteen years ago) link

I really liked the couple episodes of this show that I've seen, but I can't watch it just tivo can't record three things at once, and I've already got it booked for Gilmore Girls and American Idol.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:17 (nineteen years ago) link

It has better things than polar bears, like character development and well-plotted storylines and really good dialogue.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 5 May 2005 18:46 (nineteen years ago) link

who knows.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:21 (nineteen years ago) link

really now.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:27 (nineteen years ago) link

Who knows what?

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:39 (nineteen years ago) link

if lost is better or if veronica mars is better.

anyway, I can't wait to watch this new holy shit episode.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:41 (nineteen years ago) link

I know, because I watch both shows.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:42 (nineteen years ago) link

grrrrant kinda reminds me of how I used to envision j.williams being

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:48 (nineteen years ago) link

This show is far better than Lost, and I quite like Lost. Ditto Gilmore Girls (which is luckily on at immediately preceding Veronica Mars here). Veronica >>>>>>>>>>> Rory. But Lorelai > Keith. Paris v. Wallace is a dead heat.

Tonight we find out who killed Lilly Kane!

Melissa W (Melissa W), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 08:35 (nineteen years ago) link

I can't wait! And I don't know if I agree that LORELAI is better than Keith. I LOVE KEITH.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 14:41 (nineteen years ago) link

Veronica Mars is played by this girl who used to live next door to me at an NYU dorm. I used to hang out in her room all the time. She's so adorable.

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 14:56 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't know if I can stop myself from looking at spoiler sites!

predictions cast: veronica's mum or duncan's mum!

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 16:08 (nineteen years ago) link

either way, one of the mums, maybe wallace's.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 16:09 (nineteen years ago) link

*can't wait*

Phil... I think you actually mentioned that on another thread once. I've always wanted to ask you about a bunch of NYU people. But I won't on this thread because I don't want them googling!

Melissa W (Melissa W), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 20:13 (nineteen years ago) link

OMG less than 2 hours to go!

Melissa W (Melissa W), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 22:20 (nineteen years ago) link

Well, I didn't see that coming. They pulled it off quite well though, given the amount of "oh -- wait, what?" moments in the last few episodes.

also gotta love the "stay tuned for next season" cliffhangers.

man, i guess they'da had to cut those if the show had been canned.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 01:42 (nineteen years ago) link

I ♥ this show.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 03:48 (nineteen years ago) link

no spoilers please!

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:18 (nineteen years ago) link

or give spoiler warnings, so we can still discuss the show here.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 13:02 (nineteen years ago) link

this programme is OK but a bit boring.

just watched ep. 7, I think. the pregnant sarah goes missing. the bits were v. obvious.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 02:07 (nineteen years ago) link

having read some of this thread--

tep is not very good, here, and cozen is good and then bad and then, I assume, good.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 02:13 (nineteen years ago) link

The episode with the pregnant girl is widely considered to be one of the worst episodes.

Good stuff with Weevil and Logan in that one, though.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 03:47 (nineteen years ago) link

haha

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 07:40 (nineteen years ago) link

ep. 8 was pretty good.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:22 (nineteen years ago) link

veronica's cute.

logan's mum's lips are ridiculous.

I like the lawyer.

other obvious and silly stuff.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 15:42 (nineteen years ago) link

just after I posted that, ep. 12 ended and I feel bad.

: ((

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 15:43 (nineteen years ago) link

amanda is addicted to this show.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 20:03 (nineteen years ago) link

: )

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 20:11 (nineteen years ago) link

the best thing about the suge knight ep.="we used to be friends...a long time ago---"a long time ago, we used to be friends...""

maybe only the really ridiculous episodes are without obvious big bits.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 19 May 2005 10:09 (nineteen years ago) link

ep. 16-the notwist w/ veronica's mom in barstow

others-air when logan and weevil are painting over the graffiti-stereophonics at the hippy commune

other others?
