Okay backstory to this:

I just got home for summer vacation right. And I get a friend request from this kid. Didn't know him, but he was also friends (on facebook) with my niggas from home. So I accepted. I ask my friend who this kid is and he tells me he just moved into our town, and he's a crazy motherfucker, just says whatever doens't give a fuck. My friend and I check out his activity, and hilarity ensues.

My girl and I made a pact to joint-delete our accounts the moment we hooked up. And then promptly did it. any opinions on these guys diaspora? a winningly simple concept, I think: basically, a social network where your personal content (updates, photos, etc etc) lives on your machine instead of their server, so you keep control and ownership. scheduled to launch in the autumn. from the video featured on that site, the guys involved seem driven and nerdy enough to make it work imo altho I guess aesthetics and usability issues are always going to be a concern.

biggest problem w/ Diaspora is gonna be complexity & user adoption. no one's gonna set this shit up, imo, and it will have barely any real impact
